American Idol ....yea Or Nay?

Well the time has come for another season of America's favorite Reality TV show...... American Idol. How does everyone feel about this season so far and how many are die hard fans? Personally, I am addicted to the terrible singing and embarrasing moments. :D

rho4life 01-26-2004 07:43 PM

I LUVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV the really bad people. It's the best part! The girl who drove people out of the restaurant/bar has been my favorite so far. The person who threw water was a little out of touch. I hope they pressed charges.

I think I like the early stages so much b/c I know I'm not a good singer [my ears work ;) ], and it's hard to believe that some of these people don't realize how bad they sound.

Conskeeted7 01-27-2004 12:02 PM

Some of the people they selected were just awful to me. There was a girl in Atlanta who sang Summertime...horrible...she did nothing for me at all.

The girl who sang Tina Turner's song was just alright too. I'm interested to see how they sound after they work with some professionals.

Impressed SF 01-27-2004 12:07 PM

Horrible

The girl from atlanta who did Tina Turn was alright but I really liked that African American guy who said he was going to sing to Paula but since she wasn't there she sang to Randy. He was good to me.:)

Believe it or not, I have never watched AI.

AKA2D '91 01-28-2004 10:02 AM

There is a long thread about AI in the DST forum. :D

WTH

I thought I would jump in for a sec.. that Asian kid that was last on Tuesday's show...I haven't laughed that hard in a while.. then I felt sorry for him... all auditions were hilarious..

Steeltrap 01-28-2004 01:08 PM

Have probably seen it less than 5 times

I'm a straightahead jazz fan, none of this smooth jazz stuff for me. Jazz simply isn't a mass music. So I would have to say nay on AI, although I think Big "Uuben" would be the linear descendant of Ronzoni Luffa Vandross if he had the right producers, etc.

He wasn't the one that had me rolling...It was the guy who sang Blue Moon. ba ba ba dipdidipdip...

madmax 01-28-2004 03:58 PM

The best thing about AI is the rejects. I don't watch finalists. I think it is just a karaoke competition but the rejects are funny as hell.

my all-time favorites

"I think being the next American Idol will help me find a girlfriend."

"She Bang, She Bang"

ROLFMBAO :D

serenity_24 01-29-2004 06:20 PM

The rejects are great but I want to hear some real singing. I am a musician and while it's hillarious to see these people make fools of themselves I really tune in to see who's going yoHollywood and how good they are.

Last season they showed a nice mix of good, bad, and dreadful, but this season it's all about the rejects.

Attitude

Did anyone see that girl last night with the big time attitude. she was calling simon gay and then when Randy was trying to help her she insulted him and Paula had to let her have it. What are these people doing??

Kira is her name, I think. Hopefully she learned a lesson --->humility. As bad as she talked about Simon, she was all up in his grille when she found out she hadn't been dismissed (as I thought she would be).

I have to give the judges some credit. They rose above their anger at her petulance, recognized her talent and kept her around. ...and she can sing.

Week 3

Does anyone else dislike that Frank Sinatra wannabee?

Convinced 03-30-2004 03:08 PM

Sinatra Wannabe

He sucks so terribly! I love George and Fantasia (the one that sounds like Macy Gray.)

By the way, did you all know that Simon's ex-girlfriend is black? Not mixed, not could possibly pass if she wanted to, but dark skinned, ethnic haired black? I saw a picture of her in a magazine last week. I believe (not sure) that his current girlfriend is mixed, if not, she is very dark for a white girl.

WenD08 03-30-2004 04:40 PM

i really don't care for the redhead, he shoulda gone before Matt Rogers, to me.
i also saw Simon's ex, a singer in the UK. i think he has a thing for the darker-hued woman:p

evaclear04 03-30-2004 04:47 PM

Hence his reason for liking Fantasia ( other that her vocal skills)

I thought the same thing! He definitely has an attraction for her. But, she CAN sing!

Taykimson 03-30-2004 07:27 PM

I am addicted to the show. I started watching it with the second season.

I agree that the redhead guy should have left before Matt. The redhead guy forgot the lyrics! I liked Matt's personality - I hated to see him leave.

I like Fantasia's personality as well. She has a good voice, but my favorite to win is Latoya.

John Stevens

Red butchered one of the all time great songs. I never thought it was possible to sing a whole song flat but he did.

I really, really like Fantasia, George,Latoya, and Jasmine. I have a feeling that those talented people are going to be duking it out.:D

Who does everyone think is going to win the whole Shabang?;)

I've seen and heard drunk people sing "MY GIRL" on karaoke better than he did.

George, Latoya, and Jasmine did wonderful tonight, and it'll be no surprise if those three end up being the final three. "You're All I Need To Get By" isn't the easiest of songs to sing, and it was GREAT to see Simon eat his words after George sang.

TonyB06 03-31-2004 11:28 AM

I'm a fan of Valerie Simpson from back in the day, but WTF was that red stuff she had in her hair last night?

...it's a sad day in Mayberry when your husband's hair looks betta than yourn' do.

littlelady93 03-31-2004 12:49 PM

All I want to know is, who in this day and age still does braids like that? It's probably the same person that still gives curls and fades. And how in the world is that man not, well, gay:confused:He's always looked like a lion to me

*hijack*

hol up, littlelady93,

did the fade go out of style? did I miss a meeting or something? Last memo I saw, the "jheri curl," the "shag" and "the mullet" were on the do-not-wear-under-penalty-of-ridicule list, but the fade?

...and you're right N. Ashford did have a bit of a lion's mane in effect last night.

*end of tonsorial hijack*

Y'all know good and well Nick is the lady of the house. I don't know why but Valerie reminds me of Sweet Polly Purebred from Underdog.

Hey I call them as I see them lol. Mascara, foundation, and eyeliner with a full head of flowing locks? You don't need no further proof;)

Taykimson 03-31-2004 08:16 PM

LOL! - Both of them looked the same as they did years ago. They need to update their looks.

As much as I dislike the redhead guy, I don't think he is going home tonight. I believe Camille will be the one to go.

As for who will win it all...I really like LaToya's voice...but I'm not sure if her voice is enough to beat Fantasia's voice and personality. I also like Jennifer, but sometimes she has trouble controlling her huge voice.

Boy was I off. LaToya in the bottom 3?!?!

vanda 04-01-2004 04:29 PM

Even Red was shocked he stayed. I heard that the hairstylist for Latoya had to be consoled backstage after Randy and Simon dissed her new 'do.

She didn't need consolation, she needs a big burn on her neck and forehead for sending that chile on television looking so tacky!!! How you go from 2 inches to 24 in one week with shiny hair that don't even match????

American Idol 4/6

I am not quite sure how I feel about Idol last night. Some were good and others were like Simon would say, "gastly" but one in particular was amazing... Miss Jennifer Hudson. She blew me away with her rendition of Elton John "Circle of LIfe" .
Her performance showed why she deserves to be in the competition because if she did not do well this week I think this would have been the end of the road for her.

Again it is time for John Stevens to be dismissed. He was terrible!! If he is not gone tonight something is seriously wrong:mad:

I agree, that was a good song choice for her. I am a little worried though, I voted for her and LaToya several times (between 9 and 9:30) - and each time I was able get through (their lines were not busy)...

I didn't check the other constestants lines (that were horrible) for comparison...I didn't want to "get through" and cast a vote for them!

RBL 04-07-2004 09:44 PM

NOOOOOOOO not my Camile... oh well what is the world coming too...it wasn't her time:(

SouthrnBelle 04-15-2004 01:56 PM

Fantastic Fantasia!!!!!!!!!

Did anybody watch last night? I still have chills from Fantasia's performance. That girl can "SANG." Jennifer and Latoya did well also. I missed George. It's time for John to GOOOOOOO.

Impressed SF 04-15-2004 02:12 PM

Fantasia ....Summertime

Fantasia was wonderful!!!:D I was blown away by her rendition of "Summertime" . I think Diana Degarmo is going home because she was no Celine Dion. She was more like Saline Don't from down the street.

Rain Man 04-15-2004 02:37 PM

NAY!

American Idol I liked for a minute (the auditions eps), but beyond that it got real old and boring real quickly.

We need another talent reality show like we need another hole in the head.

Besides, it is nothing more than an overhyped "Gong Show meets Star Search".
