Classes You Hated
What was the worst class you've ever had (high school or college)? For me, it was definitely Media Awareness, which was offered as an alternative to traditional English lit classes in Grade 11 (we still had to read Shakespeare and other novels) The teacher was a somewhat radical feminist-hippie type who really didn't like it when girls wanted to "look nice". I also had a tough time in first year Women's Studies. It was something that I definitely shouldn't have picked up, but did because almost all of the girls on my floor were taking it.

Statistics 1 & 2, Macro, Micro, Intermediate Micro, and Logic.
barf. I fart in their general direction. |
More than two decades ago
One class I really hated was Math 107x at USC, fall 1982.
It was math for non-math people. The day I took the test, I looked at the stall I was taking it in and it said: "F*** Math 107x! Hell yeah! S**t." Exactly how I felt.:p |
The Quantum World Around Us (Quantum Physics for "Dummies"....clearly I wasn't smart enough OR dumb enough)
Intro to Biblical Literature (Second of two Theology requirements....I didn't HAVE to take it, but it was suggested if one wanted to minor in Theology, which I did) FRENCH! BARF! |
Worst class in high school: Honors Economics. I took it as a sophomore, and the first day the teacher comes in and says he hates having sophomores in his class, they shouldn't be allowed to take it, blah blah...it was a living hell. I got a D in it...although years later I took economics the summer after freshman year of college and not only did I get an A in it, I had 100% average. How do you like that, Mr. Legan? :D
Worst class in college: Finite Mathematics. It had the lowest number, so I thought it would be the easier class. WRONG. I still couldn't tell you what it involved. All I know is it was pure hell on earth. I got a C- and worked my butt off for that! |
Worst class in HS: AP British Lit. It made Senior year a living hell.
In college: I was actually one of the few that loved Statistics! I hated Political Philosophy & Theory though...and wouldn't you know it? It was one of the required courses for my major. Politics and Film comes in a close second. It was an interesting class, but the courseload for it was so damn heavy that it controlled my entire final semester of college. |
Worst Class in HS: Physics.
Worst Class in College: Physics. Notice a pattern? |

LOL. Those were probably some of my best classes. ;) |

HS: Everything. I hated high school in general.
College: Calculus. The professor was mean, and he didn't bathe. He liked to lean in close to explain a problem. Yuck yuck yuck. |
HS: Chemistry solely because the teacher was a #%^@%^.
College: I want to say Calc 2 because of my evil prof, but I can't. Why is this? Because of Political Theory, Politics of the Internet, and Managerial Accounting. BLEAH. |
So many to count....
HS: Calc. I and Chem 1 College: Botany, Poltical Theory ( and i was a poli sci major) and any math class! |
French Lit and Financial Accounting in college can both kiss my arse.
|
Natural Science... (excuse me while I ralph)
|
High School: Introductions to Occupations, Economics, Sequential Math 2 and English 11 and 12
College: American Presidency (a PoliSci course) http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/dvv/pissed.gif |
Game Theory

I'm a super genius and loved all my classes. You guys suck. They let you into college?
-Rudey --I'm saying I'm better than you by a lot. |

But you did hate one. :p |
high school - sophmore english- we had to write two pages in our jounral everyday. 1 page on a topic he gave us and the second on what ever. So I know I scared him and I got bored and wrote things like "will I ever have a reason to live" or " black sunshine in my eyes, black sunshine never dies"
I ended up in the councils office who was shocked becuase I was her favorite in Art and was in every stupid club she was head over!... Plus my teacher look like Tom Green, really creepy. Plus math. College- Math |
High School - Chemistry. I couldn't get higher than a C+, plus that was the only class where I failed the Regents exam (by a measly 4 points, ARGH!!!!).
College: Calculus - All my academic life I got nothing but A's in math. Then came calculus and it made me feel like such a dummy. Took about 2 times to get it right with a C. Finance Law of Business Organizations Law of Business Contracts Accounting Finance Pretty much most of my courses during the first two years of college. :o |
Econ, Stat, Comp Sci -- basically the areas of study I never understood in high school which led me to be a journalism major.
|
In high school the worst class was anatomy and physiology. In college it is definitely financial accounting. I am back for round 2 in that one.
|
High School: Geometry and Chemistry . . . Mrs. Tarver quickly made me rethink the whole premed major. Damn her and that beehive she wore for 6 months.
College: STATS, Psych Testing, and Intro to Ethics (philosophy class). Bad part about that class was I worked for the History and Philosophy department. I would skip class and go to work. The prof was the chair of the department. I should have known the class would be garbage because that man was boring just picking up his mail. |
High School: Chemistry *gag* I still hate that subject due to that stupid teacher.
College: Math for Educators I, this class was all about -how- you got to the answer and why that answer is really the answer, he didn't even care if you got the answer correct! Drove me nuts!! Plus, do 6th graders really need to add 1+1 in cuneiform?????  |
1) Linear Systems Analysis - I got a 29%. Lowest passing grade was a 20%. WTF?!? (BTW, this class was the reason I switched out of EE).
2) Modern Physics (i.e., special rel, etc) - I'm not a physicist. I never will be a physicist. In fact, 6 years after I took the class, even though I got a B, I can't remember any of the material enough to be competent at it. A complete waste of my time. Other than that, the rest of my classes were OK at worst. |
:( Why did everyone hate chemistry? :( Just kidding!
I hated Physical Chemistry in college, but managed to push my way through it to graduate. And let me tell you, I NEVER use that information in any of the work I do daily. Infact, I don't know any chemists that do! I also hated my history class. Or actually the professor. Shame we got him fired after teaching for only one semester! :p |
Least favorite class? Without a doubt-- Math 101.. after taking Trig and PreCal in HS, I thought this class would be a cakewalk. WRONG! This was the 'General' Math class and required for nursing majors. I would have preferred taking Calculus-- this class made nooooooo sense.
Second least favorite class: Microbiology. Now that I've been in practice for a few years, I'd love to go back and take a real good Micro class because this wasn't it. I still remember one of the profs (it was team taught, and was over at the medical school but their faculty) saying to us "As you learned in your undergraduate microbiology studies..." At least one brave soul had the guts to raise her hand and say "this IS our undergraduate course, so could you please explain that again. This time in English." |
Highschool: Every single math class. That's why I dropped math after grade 11 (we still had OAC at the time...thank god I could drop math)
University: Macroeconomics...the prof was pure evil. She was the devil herself, Stats...it made me drop out of psychology, but the prof was cool. |
All-time worst: grad seminar on 19th Century American Poetry. What should have been an interesting class on Whitman and Dickinson turned into hell on Earth because of an evil old professor.
College: Didn't really have any that I absolutely hated. High School: Trig/Analytic Geometry, followed closely by Honors Chem. |
