Yay, Herbie rules!!! :D

When my parents worked in Germany in the early 70s (on an army base near Stuttgart), they had a Herbie car (just without the racing stripes and #53).

I have always loved beetles and finally got one of my own a couple months ago...

How cute is THAT?!

It is fast and peppy (thanks to the Turbo engine vrooom vrooom) just like Herbie.

There is definitely something special about a car that enjoys being somewhat silly looking. I like that beetles don't look like every other car on the road.

I don't know what on earth that thing is, but I never want to see again. It's worse than Brett Michaels.

Herbie the car ONLY from now.

Herbie the Cornhusker, idolized mascot of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

My roommate was from Lincoln, so I got educated in the ways of the Big Red.

Is it just me, or does the Big XII have some weird mascots? I have no room to talk, ours is a giant bird that has nothing to do whatsoever with our actual team name, which itself is an awe-inspiring whirling vortex of destruction.

Cy the Cyclone is a Red Cardinal...I don't get it either. My friend is an alum of ISU, and he wears something from there EVERYDAY.

He is an entomologist though, and I think anyone who gets a graduate degree in bugs & insects, and has dressed up as the Orkin man is "special".

YES YES! We would sit in the back of the car and scream out "Punch Buggy Red!" (or whatever color it was) and punch each other. My poor mother would be driving and yell, ""If you girls don't stop, I'm going to turn this car around!" We'd tell her we were sorry and be quiet...until we saw another punch buggy! :p

Yup, I'm a Cyclone! :D Supposedly, when it was decided we needed a mascot, they used a Cardinal because cardinal and gold are the school colors. In 1940somethingorother they held a contest to name the mascot and 14 entries turned in Cy. The first entrant won a whopping $10!

Oh and we did slugbug :insert color: which was often followed by "no slugs back". Hubby and I have also incorporated the PT Cruiser Flick on our long car rides.

We did the P'diddle too. Supposedly the last one to do P'diddle had to buy the beer (which really meant a lot considering we were freshmen in high school  )
