Your Coffee Mug

Describe your coffee mug:

Mine is navy blue, with a gold embossed rim, and a gold illustration of a subway token on the front; the type with a hollow "y" in the middle, and that reads "New York City Transit Authority" on the border.

EagleChick19 01-17-2004 04:21 PM

Mine is a white coffee mug with blue writing that says:

Pennsylvania Political Science Association
Annual Meeting
State Capitol, Harrisburg
April 5-6, 2002

It has a pix of the PA state capitol, and other sponsors for the events (all in blue)

So it can't go in the microwave, huh?!? :D

I guess so. I've never put a coffee mug in a microwave oven. If the coffee gets cold, I pour it out and get fresh coffee.

NutBrnHair 01-17-2004 04:32 PM

Interesting...I'm a microwave-reheater, myself.

Oh, and by the way, one of my favorite mugs is my white one with 2 pictures of the young Elvis and the words: Graceland...Elvis Presley 1995, 60th Birthday Celebration, January 6-8

carnation 01-17-2004 04:48 PM

OMG, I think they all say something that includes mom, professor, or teacher -- and they're all gift mugs.

Peaches-n-Cream 01-17-2004 04:52 PM

I want a NY Transit Authority mug. I have a token keyholder.

I use two mugs: plain white or white with colorful hearts.

GeekyPenguin 01-17-2004 05:14 PM

Hehehe...my coffee mugs are Kahlua ones that my parents got with some gift set. I also have a few Gamma Phi Beta ones, but I use those for decoration. My parents have a set that says "IrishLastNames's Irish Tavern" that they got for Christmas a few years ago.

DolphinChicaDDD 01-17-2004 06:15 PM

My coffee mug is a travel mug, cause I'm a tea girl (we get no respect) so I bring my tea into work/class.
I have 2 favs, one is from the All Star Movie hotel from Disney World, and the other is a green one with Grumpy on it; it says "Hasn't smiled since 1924" or something like that on it.

Carnation- we have about a hundred mugs about teaching on it; my mom is a teacher. why do all kids think its a good idea to get teachers mugs??

My fav real mug says "Damn I'm Good" on it.:p

aephi alum 01-17-2004 06:23 PM

I must have a zillion mugs :)

I have a red travel mug that goes with me to work every day.

The non-travel mugs I use most often are a set of 4 with different pictures of cats on them. I also have a bunch of mugs that were giveaways.

xok85xo 01-17-2004 06:37 PM

its cardboard and says "7-11 big brew" because i like to kill the environment and create more trash with my disposable coffee cup every morning :)

i am also a microwave reheater because its never hot by the time i get to work 5 minutes later (i like my coffee really hot tho)

mu_agd 01-17-2004 06:39 PM

i have two. one is a yellow dun&bradstreet one that i stole from my dad. the other is stainless steel with the miami university seal on it.

Darned if I know! My husband teaches too and he has gotten literally dozens of mugs over the years. I want to call his principal and ask her to tell the kids that the penalty for giving a teacher a mug is suspension.

G8Ralphaxi 01-17-2004 07:31 PM

My parents are both teachers and the coffee mugs are taking over their kitchen. Mom sent 2 boxes (i.e. ream of paper size boxes) to goodwill a couple years ago, and they still have lots. She kept all the Christmas ones, even the ugly ones. We could have about 78 people over for coffee in December, I think!

I have 3 coffee cups with disney characters (living in Orlando - they best has mickey and yoda from the epcot star wars exhibit), 2 matching ones with famous German buildings (gift), 2 with general U. Florida stuff, a couple pretty pottery ones (gift from mom), 2 law school ones, and several from different law firms around town...the firms give you lots of crap during their recruiting - I have pens, notepads, CD cases, cups, coffee mugs, t shirts, etc. I have coffee mugs from all over town, except the one firm where I'm actually going to work! Hmmm, maybe I should ask for one?

kappaloo 01-17-2004 07:40 PM

Mind is a latte mug... three sections - the top is blue&blue striping, the middle is... ugh...yellowish with blue&blue fleur de lys. the last section is blue with white keys and kappa kappa gamma text in black.

My other mugs are boring plain blue and white (the white one came with my plates) :)

CatStarESP4 01-17-2004 08:29 PM

Mine is a medium plain white mug. We also have small cups with a gold trim, but we use those for ice cream or pudding.

I would like to get one with my letters though!

For Tea Actually

White one with a big blue Moravain Alumni thing on it with a greyhound!

And a white tall one with green top & bottom trim. Has a girl in a black dress holding a cosmo and says "cosmo girl"

UGAGal 01-17-2004 11:20 PM

My white ceramic mug has Odd Todd's coff-ay dude on it. My travel mug that I picked up at a trade show is tall and blue with CNN in silver.

Sistermadly 01-18-2004 12:11 AM

Mine is white, and it has the logo of the Hungry Bear Cafe in Needles, CA, and a Route 66 road sign on the back. The restaurant was kind of forgettable, but the Hungry Bear has become a sort of in-joke between MisterMadly and myself.

GPhiLlama 01-18-2004 12:19 AM

I have two. I use a white mug with a blue exterior and pictures of Tweety on it, and the other is black with the Loyola University logo on it. I also have a Gamma Phi mug that I got when I accepted my bid, but I don't use it because it was hand decorated.

KillarneyRose 01-18-2004 12:37 AM

My current favorite is a big old 15 ounce mug with Happy Bunny on it and underneath him it says, "Cute But Psycho. Things Even Out." My bio sister got it for me; she knows I have a warped sense of humor.

Anyone else like Happy Bunny? Hmmm, maybe this needs a thread of its own...

mu_agd, I have the same one :D

Hootie 01-18-2004 12:47 AM

Um, my mugs were all left in a move. :( My favorite was one I got down in New Orleans that was (what else) Cafe DuMonde!

I don't drink coffee...I drink hot tea and in a plain, boring, white mug!

ThetaPrincess24 01-18-2004 01:23 PM

I dont drink coffee, so I have no mugs.

Lil' Hannah 01-18-2004 02:02 PM

I have many many mugs but I will describe the 3 I use the most...

-An oversized one with watercolorish type paint it with an anchor and some sailboats, in 4 different panels, from a Christmas Tree Shop on Cape Cod.

- An off-white one from South of the Border with a 3-D Pedro on the front, so it looks like he's breaking out of the mug, and on the back he's taking a siesta on a cactus.

- A stainless steel travel mug from REI with a carabiner clip for a handle.

cutiepatootie 01-19-2004 03:01 AM

I have two favorite mugs:

1. latte cup of mickey mouse in cartoon strips all over it

2. Tinkerbelle on it and it says with a pic of her: 'it is all about me"

mmcat 01-19-2004 08:50 AM

a navy blue princess mug...won on the cruise this december. the type is silver and it's raised and it's real havy.

LeslieAGD 01-19-2004 11:20 AM

My travel coffee mug is dark green with a black rim and lid, and the letters EMU horizontally in white on both sides.

My in-home coffee mug is a bowl-shaped latte mug that is white with a thick band of randomly decorated hearts in red, pink, purple, and black.

ISUKappa 01-19-2004 11:37 AM

My mug at work (which is usually used for tea or instant coffee) is white with a blue rim and three blue stripes in the middle. The one I usually use at home is yellow with a blue/purple iris on it, Mr. ISUKappa uses a big mustard-colored cappucino mug for his hot chocolate.

DeltAlum 01-19-2004 01:10 PM

I've got a gazillion of the damned things -- most have been gifts from vendors, etc.

I don't drink coffee.

Dionysus 01-19-2004 01:31 PM

I'm j/k about grandma's GA, but she sure love those casinos

Two white mugs that say Alton Belle Casino :D

Obviously my gambling addicted grandmother brought them.

AlphaFrog 01-19-2004 01:38 PM

I have 4 I use:

A set of 4 white ones with ladybugs on them

A ceramic mug with 3-D frog and ladybug

A soupbowl/mug with the ASA crest

A soupbowl/mug with roses that the frog that I buried with my grandpa came sitting in

dekeguy 01-19-2004 01:49 PM

The one I use most is Army Green with crossed sabres bearing the numerals 5 on top and 3 on bottom (for Third Squadron, Fifth Cavalry). Under this is "Commanding Officer, C Troop.

exlurker 01-20-2004 01:21 AM

Home: black mug with gold Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton on it, from the American Museum of Natural History.

Lab: gray mug with red and gray Triceratops on it, from same museum.

aurora_borealis 01-20-2004 04:30 AM

I have more than I can ever use, as my grandmother was a school teacher, and I inherited all her funky 70's ones. I used to use them for fondue night.

However I have a LARGE pink one that is blue on the inside, a black and gold one with my school's fight song on one side, and an emblem on the other, and two art mugs. One is Toulouse Lautrec's can can girls of the Moulin Rogue, and the other is Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss". My sister bought me a Viking Kitten mug, and allegedly there is a Bill the Goat mug coming.

My friend has a great one of the back sides of cowboys sitting on a fence. It says "Cowboy Butts Drive Me Nuts", and her mother got it for her.

just be glad that recruitment was done over two weeks this year and not the three weeks it took my senior year!

My favorite mug (the one that goes to school with me every day) is a travel mug that I got from The Disney Store about 10 years ago. One of the reasons I love it so much is that the base is wider than the top and it has a grippy bottom so I can set it on my desk or overhead cart without fear of a student knocking it over.

I also love the lid on it, it goes into the lip and twists in. I'm not crazy enough to take any open drinking container into a fifth grade classroom.

My mug also has pooh on it, which goes over big with my female students. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to this mug since The Disney Store no longer makes the mugs with the large base.

sigtau305 01-20-2004 05:47 PM

Grey all around. top is green.
words on it: Kokopelli Coffee and Tea
