The Apprentice
I was just wondering if anyone watches this show. For the most part I only like reality shows on MTV and of course ANTM, but this is actually a good show. The women are a little, ummm shall I say b!tchy, but it's still a good show. If you watch it, what do you think of the participants?
|
some1 fill me in on 2nite's episode! i was in barnes & noble until 11pm.
omarosa's introduction on the show was so fake to me! "i gre up in the projects, but now im a phd from harvard!" but more power to powerful black folk. i think both teams were horrible in teh lemonadde selling, for obvious reasons. and erika wasnt handling her job. when that happens, u have 2 choices: let the team fall behind b/c of teh leaders' faults, or take charge and lead to victory. im glad omarosa chose the latter. please, fill me in! im mad i missed it. |
I was wondering if y'all hard started a thread for this. The show is good! Mr. Trump does NOT play.
The African American chick is OFF THE CHAIN! She thinks she's cute, but she's far from it. I hate how she threw the race card into the debate that she had with the Caucassian chick. Then she went on to say that they (the Caucassian women) were intimidated by "black women." I was thinking, girly, there's nothing that would intimidate me. I was little shook by their presentation with the airplane. But their persistance got them the victory. The African American male is a Kappa I hear. One of my close male friends (which is a Kappa) gave me the information. He is nice in his spot too! I think Sam should have gotten voted off last night. He has serious issues, and it's obvious that he's use to lying his way out of situations. Great episode--can't wait to see it again next week. What are y'all thoughts? |

I normally don't watch reality shows, but...
...I caught the premiere of this show by accident and something about it caught my attention.
I really don't care for the usual mean-spirited cutthroat elimination formats of these types of shows. I guess the reason why I watched this show is because I am an MBA and I like to see the creativity and strategies of business in action within the coexistence of a team environment (My MBA program indoctrinated, branded, and drilled this concept into my head like no one's business). The losing teams meetings with Mr. Trump, while nerve wracking, do allow him to show the team where they messed up, and how a team member(s) can contribute to the team's failure. Very insightful and interesting. Now for the teams and the members thereof. Frankly I think that all the complaints/commentaries by various team members during the projects is nothing but a bunch of bulljive that NBC puts into the show to boost ratings and by and large do not contribute to the show as a whole. Save those moments for when it counts--in the boardroom. Those moments are primarily fodder for the office "Monday morning quarterbacks", which are why they are there in the first place, IMHO. The thing that irritated me about 1/15's show was when the women went on a plane trip to Boston for dinner and the emphasis was on them b[elc]hing, moaning, and complaining. OMG, moments like those I only dreamed of as a child and these folx are actually living my dream, and they couldn't even enjoy it w/o getting catty. If I was one of them, I would've been darned if I let any of them mammajammas blow my lifelong fantasy with a bunch of silly bulljive, and I would've let them know that in no uncertain terms. The only team member I particularly care about at this juncture is Sam, and that is b/c while he is the least popular, he in his own ways exudes himself as a maverick, and he does have potential, but he hasn't really had a chance to really let it shine, and I think that is the only reason why Mr. Trump is keeping him in the game so far. The winner will be determined by true leadership potential, not merely a popular vote by his peers, which is why I like this show over other reality shows. |
I like this show. However I'm not feelin' the sister, the brothah yes, but not the sistER.
The pot calling the kettle black phrase has nothing to do with black folk and I don't know if her splitting headache was splitting braincells, but it's folk like her that encourages white women to see all black women as angry-emotional women. She has a CHIP on her shoulder and it just may get knocked off by Trumps no lip havin' "YOUR FIRED." And I understand this is a chance of a lifetime for them, but I don't believe in kissin' azz and that what that little white dude is doing. Come on MAn-UP and impress Trump with your businness skills, not the kissin & wipin of the buttocks skills. I want the brothah to shine, but he needs to be more vocal. |

I personally like Omarossa-yeah she took it to far with the pot calling the kettle black however....when the other girls were sniping about Tammy taking a lunch break behind her back she took her to the side and said something. Tammy repays her 'heads up' by going to the girls and asking - do you have a problem?? And they all punked out. I wonder how stupid she feels watching the show now! Yet Tammy has had mad attitude with O since then....last night Om questioned her trifling phallic idea and she just cut her off. I can totally see why Om was exasperated...those girls are used to batting their eyes to get their ways and not actually use a brain cell. So far the girls are acting like they are in elementary school house..Ereka is the popular one and has her yes men all around her backing her up. I can't wait until they lose and the clique shows their true colors in the boardroom. I don't think O would have been eliminated because I too saw in watchers eyes (the woman that works for Donald - can't remember her name) how disgusted she was with the idea.
As for the guys - while Sam is over the top last night the cut went to the right person. He didn't think it was important to meet with the client. If he worked at an ad agency before he should have absolutely known better. How can you create a campaign without meeting with the client first!!! And he was the liar - if you don't give some one work to do what was Sam suppossed to do but take a freakin nap  !! he tried to make it sound like Sam dropped the ball but he admittedly said he didn't give him anything to do. Not good management - you may not like him but you have to work with him, respect that and keep your personal feelings to yourself. So far, I like Sam...like Donald's man said he may not fit in at Trump Enterprises- but Sam will either end up in jail for fraud or he'll be a multi millionaire...but he'll be fun to watch! I'll reserve furthur comment on Kwame however he earned a pimp slap for his location at the Seaport - there are other corners in that area that have a LOT more pedestrian traffic especially at lunchtime...the guys could have cleaned up easily if they had just walked around the corner instead of right off the highway. It amazes me how many people live in NYC and don't even know this city. edited because I can't spell ;) |
I'm happy that the women have been winning, but you know what.......sex appeal will only get you so far. It worries me that sex appeal has throughly infused both of their wins. I wish that they had picked some women who were not so pretty, and carried a little more weight, b/c those women would probably be more used to using assets outside their bras to get ahead.
for the gents - please don't let my future babby daddy, the big K man leave!!!!!:p |

Amarosa (( is that her name)) She seems very sensitive... she thinks that the whole group is out to get her. (( which is understandable since she is the token black girl)) Everytime she has her confessional she is whining about something. She was upset they didn't take her pulling the name out of the bowl idea... she was upset she didn't get to meet the president of the company... I just wanted to shake her and yell GET A GRIP. I was so surprised that she threw that race card out there too. When she brought that up I was like OMG is she serious. Intimidated by her?? Not in the least but I am intimidated by her weave though, do you guys ever notice that by the end of the day you can see her tracks?? I think that the women are going to get rid of her first if ever they lose a competition. All in all another reality show I am hooked on! |

and for the girls to use sex to sell was cheap, but thats how it works in business--gotta make that $ and why did the girls (who werent even from the city) split up? you were bound to get lost. hell, i get lost, and im from here. dumb move. |
TTT
I posted some additional comments in the Chit Chat - Entertainment Forum under a thread of the same name.
Lemme know what you think, and I'll see you on Thursday w/more of the lowdown. |
Stardusttwin, you are in Brooklyn as well. Did you already see the 2nd episode? How could I have missed that. I hope they are showing it again tomorrow @ 8pm.
Now let's not hate on the ladies for using sex to sell the lemonaide. The men certainly had the option of doing the same. They can easily sell juice @ $5 a cup in NY (if they were in their underpants). This is equally as pathetic as Sam spending 20 minutes trying to sell a cup of juice for $1,000 (what a loser). Let's not forget the CowBoy guy that played his guitar on 42nd in the freezing cold. He's quite wealthy these days with his underwear modeling career. Well, I'm in the hunt for a power job these days myself so I am very interested in the Apprentice. Can't wait 'till Wednesday. |

I'm not hating on those ladies, but lets be real...either this is a contest reflecting the best and brightest of America or this is an upgrade from Trumps usual beauty pagaent activities...there are plenty of beautiful women who are intelligent who are always questioned whether they acheived their position based on brain or bedroom antics...So far, the majority of these women so far support that...inappropriate work clothes, catty behavior, inability to meet and discuss topics without emotions running wild (and feelings getting hurt)...all the bs that men use to say why women can't be in big business. You can't tell me the best and brightest women are all 5"7" or taller and don't know the difference between business wear, weekend wear and club wear ;). |
Update: SAM IS FIRED!!!!!
OMG, that was one of THE funniest eps of Apprentice I have seen thus far.
HOT OFF THE PRESSES: THE HIGHLIGHTS Tonight's task involved the art of negotiation: To purchase a predetermined list of items/services at a price lower than what the merchant is asking for. Well, needless to say, the women won with a 22% savings, the men only 9% Notable moments: more catty drama b/t Omarosa and ?? (I wasn't paying attention), but during the task the women split up in sub-groups of two to get more done. Omarosa claims that the women she was with got some new-found respect for her, but since I really didn't see a significant amount of emphasis on that area, that truly remains to be seen. Now the big question: How did Sam go as project manager? Well, I give him an A for enthusiam, an A for effort, but a HUGE F for execution and technique *Whoopi Goldburg bursts out, "NOT F!! F MINUS!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"* My bad, Whoopi. F minus indeed. Sam's problem was that he was too busy being a megalomaniac (power hungry), he actually prevented the group from negotiating the purchase of more items in order to buy some gold by 11:30, thereby wasting a LOT of precious time in the process. Funny moment #1: Donald Trump stopping by to visit Sam during the project and gave him a handshake and a brief chat. Well, Sam had his head so far up in the clouds that the teammates had to take 5-10? minutes to bring him back to earth (RM's note: I think that visit was only to allow Mr. Trump to give Sam enough rope to hang himself with). Premonition perhaps? Indeed it was!! Funny moment #2: Sam blaming Kwame in part for the team's failure. Now I must say that Kwame has been slowly blossoming into a very assertive, observant, and astute businessman. I knew that Kwame had nothing to worry about and when I heard Sam say Kwame's name, I shouted, "BULLJIVE!!" Furthermore, IMHO if Kwame doesn't win the apprenticeship, he will probably be among the last to go, that's for sure. Funny moment #3: Sam's look on his face when Mr. Trump said those famous words, three times to be exact. It was SOOOOO FUNNY (HOW FUNNY WAS IT???!!!), that I am going to try my darndest to get a screengrab of that expression off the Internet somewhere. If no one gets anything else out of this episode, the moral to tonight's show is this: The only thing that Sam knows how to run is HIS MOUTH!!! That fact has been made perfectly clear as of 8:54 pm EST. And on that note: LET THE RANTINGS, LAUGHING, AND REJOICING BEGIN!!!!! ;) :D |
Ah man, I missed the first 45 minutes. What happened with Omarosa? I will say that with the last 15 minutes that I did see, I just grew to love Kwame even more. I wonder if he has a younger brother ;) . But when I saw the previews for next week's episode I was a little upset. If you are willing to lie to win this competition, then what is to be said about how you will run your own business. I know with the whole Enron scandal people are putting a lot more emphasis on ethics, so I wonder what the boss will have to say about that. I can't wait for the women to get told something about their, "sex sells strategy."

You mean more emphasis on not getting caught, right? |

Catrina was the girl that grabbed Omarosa. Yes, she was crazy to do that - and did it more than once! Omarosa was right. This is a competition. Things may seem "cool" NOW that the women are winning, but let them lose one assignment and have to send someone home. All the "sisterhood and bonding" will fly out the window. |

I missed the first 30 mins of the show, so I didn't see the women battle. But Sam won an Oscar yesterday!! That dude is dramatic--off the chain!
I want the women to lose so they can eliminate somebody. They may be getting a little relaxed winning everything. Good episode. |

POSTAL!
Mr. R4L and I were sitting there and both said that Sammy looked like he was about to go postal. I hope there were some metal detectors in the Trump towers!
The biggest downside to this show is that b/c it's not on MTV it doesnt get replayed a million times during the week, so I end up missing some of the drama while we're talking sh*t about people |
I ain't mad at Omarosa...not one bit.
My thang has her own website.......http://www.omarosa.com Check out the site. It's is exceptionally well done. I don't know if the other contestants have moved on to this "level", but she has represented herself VERY well. Be sure to check out her Photo Album gallery. BTW Sam looked POSESSED when we got fired. I thought he was about to blow the place up! |
Diggin Omarosa's website
I really do hope she make through on the Apprentice. Girlfriend seem to have her stuff together and that really makes me proud!!

Omarosa's a sho' 'nuff OHIOAN!!

I also read that she is a Central State University grad (which was a truely 'hood-like school). I wonder is she was there when I was there ('94). Being that she is 29 and I'm 30, that was possible. CSU IN THE HOUSE! But I'm starting to have new found respect for her as far as the competition goes. I hope she doesn't let me down. |

Oh yes, that was so crazy. Then Sam the Koook (did I spell that right: kook for crazy) get's in the Limo and says, "I realize now that Trump was saying now or never. You must win or I'll have to let you go." I'm paraphrasing but what a weirdo. What a spazz. What the .. hail. How did that crazy white man get an interview with Trump. If he can do it ... I know I can.
Osmarosa's page is excellent. I'm learning. I'm taking notes. |
I like her as well, I think she is a good competitor, and has the poise to pull it off.
By the way, did anyone notice she was married? I had no idea! |
That picture is off the chain! That dude is crazy, aight?
RAINMAN, clean out your mailbox...I've been PMin' you since Friday! |

That's the look! Sammy just doesn't have an accurate perception of the world. He kept focusing on the wrong things. He kept using the football analogy when they really just needed the info on a place to go to buy golf clubs.  I wish Sam the best, but I hope I never have to deal w/ him. he's toooooo much of a loose canon [or potentially derranged postal worker - no offense to any postal workers out there, but you get the point ;)] |

Watch your back Donald!! |
I had to rewind the Sam "look." I was crackin' up over that one. He was pleading. I can't stand when people kiss azz. Yea, Trump is one of the most powerful men-financially and all, but I refuse to go where Sam went.
I really liked what the brothah, Kwame I think (forgot name) said; if respecting Sam is a requirement then he needs to go home. I just said something similiar to that at my last temp job where they felt that I wasn't shuckin and jivin enough for them. I digress. I'm beginning to understand Omorsara a little more and see her in another light. We as black women should stick together regardless of class, organization affilitation, religion, etc. And I'll be the first to say that my initial assement of her was premature. |
Well I wonder what excuses the guys are telling themselves, Nick was SO on it...Sam was out of there and they still lost..bunch of weak links.
I'm glad Donald saw through the bs and didn't get rid of Nick...I've been in a similar situation (others doing things I just did not want to be a part of)...the boss refused to see things my way (I was viewed as Omarosa...the mad black woman who didn't want to be part of the group)..so I bounced...a few months later it all imploded and who they tried to call??[Ghostbusters!! ha ha couldn't resist ;)].. I'm glad they called the women out on their behavior but it seems that some of them still don't get it...you can be sexy and close a deal with out shaking your behind...they can be great when they used their minds (figuring out that the bar was where the most revenue would come in)...drinking while selling shots was not. |
This episode was good. I'm sick of the men losing. I didn't have a problem with Kwame signing autographs. They didn't say he was a star or anything like that. Did you all see how they're going to switch groups next week? That's gonna really be good.
|
I missed it again. All I saw was the board meeting. From what I could tell Nick didn't agree with the basketball signing so he wasn't as enthusiastic about it. I don't blame him. I don't know what I would have done, but they would have known I didn't approve of that. Regardless as to whether or not he said he was a star, that's what he was implying, and like Nick said, it was misleading, but again, I didn't see the actual competition so I don't know exactly how it went down.
