Swimsuits!!!

It's official....its time to start shopping for swimsuits!!!!

So, in the name of swimsuit shopping, I thought I would ask where everyone's favorite swimsuits come from!!!

SmartBlondeGPhB 01-15-2004 02:32 PM

"Everything but Water" (I think that's the name) in the Scottsdale Fashion Plaza........It's huge.

They sell in pieces so my "bigger on the top' body can get what it needs. I got a great one there the day after Christmas....And got one a few years ago there too.

<rant>

My swimsuit cost more than the two pairs of pants, and two mock turtlenecks I bought at Robinson's May (in total)!

The new Victoria's Secret Swim 2004 Brazil line has a great selection of suits! I love the one by Calvin Kline, which is a full peice and has a wrap that's so classic. Check it out if you get a chance!

ZTAngel 01-15-2004 02:41 PM

Burdines

It's a department store in Florida. ("The Florida Store")

They sell all different types of cute bathing suits. My favorite type are Esprit bathing suits and Burdines has a HUGE selection from them. Their bathing suits are slightly expensive there (can run you $70 for something that can be completely ruined in chlorinated water) but Burdines often has great sales; they're infamous for their sales.

I don't like to catalog order my swimsuits. Swimsuits are one of those things that have to fit just right since they're not much covering you. :) You don't want to accidently get a suit that too baggy, too tight, doesn't have enough material in places that there should be more material, or too see-through.

ETA:
If you like designer swim wear (Esprit, Nautica, Calvin Klein) but don't want to spend a lot, go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I've found some awesome CK, Nautica, and Esprit swimsuits there for $20!

Sister Havana 01-15-2004 03:06 PM

I got my current suit at Syms. (kind of like a Marshall's or TJ Maxx but with more "upscale" names) It's a Miraclesuit and I got it for $29! (it sells for something like $85 normally)

mullet81 01-15-2004 03:14 PM

i usually get my swimsuits from JCrew - theyre really cute in a preppy sort of way and they hold up really well with a lot of wear!

Peaches-n-Cream 01-15-2004 04:02 PM

Last summer I bought four bikinis on sale for about $70. That was a great sale. I bought them the day before NY brought back the tax on clothes.

SmartBlondeGPhB 01-15-2004 07:47 PM

VERY cute!

However, after spending a while looking for a suit recently, I know it would definitely not look good on MY body.........

GeekyPenguin 01-15-2004 08:13 PM

I looove that J.Crew one too, but I'd like some more substantial bottoms for it. ;)

texas*princess 01-15-2004 09:17 PM

time to shop for swimsuits already??

i don't even think winter has hit texas yet

James 01-15-2004 11:12 PM

do they let you try them on ?

SmartBlondeGPhB 01-15-2004 11:24 PM

Yes, and yes.............

James 01-15-2004 11:35 PM

Thats like trying on underwear . . and putting it back.

Peaches-n-Cream 01-15-2004 11:46 PM

I wear underwear when I try on bathing suits. I wash the new bathing suits when I get home.

MeLikey 01-16-2004 02:24 AM

Victoria's Secret!!! I'm ordering the bandeau and hot short swimsuit (the black and white one) in the new catalogue. I also may get the black faux suede one too.

Unregistered- 01-16-2004 02:40 AM

I go to a store called Loco Boutique.

I got this

http://www.locoboutique.com/images/P0136/MJF00412_r.jpg

two weeks ago, but instead of the bottoms I wear the matching hotpants (not pictured). I like the hotpants better while surfing because it doesn't ride up my butt. You don't want wedgies when you're trying to impress hottie surfer boys.

FiReKraCkEr 01-16-2004 02:54 AM

I just ordered these....

I'm in love with SanSali!

Swimsuits are my weakness bigtime. I am what one would call a "swimsuit whore!" :D I think last season I bought 10. I have so many swimsuits, but I practically live in them as soon as the weather turns warm. VS definitely is a fav, I like a few of the Venus swimsuits, but my fav brands are probably Salina and Vix, which I always have the hardest time finding anywhere but the internet. FYI, Newport News actually has some cute and rediculously inexpensive suits--I got a couple from there for playing around. Ahh, I can't wait for warm weather!

Jadey28 01-17-2004 01:29 PM

I bought two from Victoria's Secret. I ordered the white faux leather in November and the top is still on backorder! :( Hopefully it will arrive before I go to Florida in March. But, just to be on the safe side, I just ordered the Beach Sexy String Bikini with the open heart shape detail (the pink and black one). I love picking out bathing suits....I only wish they looked as good on me as they did on the models. Oh well! :p

Are those the G-String ones?

Ugh, James, what is up with you today? :)

String bikins are not G-strings. They are the types that have the triangle shaped tops that are held on a thick piece of fabric (string) that goes across the bottom of the bathing suit. The top is able to move across the string.

absolutuscchick 01-19-2004 03:07 AM

I just bought a really cute suit from JCrew....I think it might be the one in the picture earlier, but since J. Crew's website is down I can't show y'all....anyhow it's a black halter top and a black low rise bikini bottom with a little tie at the side. Very cute!!!
But it cost me 70 bucks!!! Oh well, it's a classic suit that I can wear for a long time!!! Now just to work on my abs.....all my friends say I look good in it but I'd like to do a few more crunches!!!

G8Ralphaxi 01-19-2004 06:21 PM

Target, baby, Target. Some of the stuff is U-G-L-Y, but I found two really cute suits there last year - $12.99 a piece. And that's before any sales. My favorite one has held up really well. Now that Target has all those designers selling out for them, they are really getting cuter stuff.

But this isn't really the best swimsuit shopping time - I like to go at the end of the season - then you can go to the department stores (ditto on the vote for Burdines - love their stuff) and pay Target prices. I'm pretty lucky that I've been virtually the same size for the past couple years, so a suit I buy in October will still fit next summer.

Heck, in Florida, I will wear that suit in October - I wore a short sleeved shirt on Christmas day this year. Woo-hoo, Sunshine State!

Yup, thats my main problem. I admit it. I pay $75 for a Roxy bikini. But they do not ride up while surfing (hey, all their models are professional surfers, and wear them in competetion, and would not stand for wedgies while riding) and fit me nice on top.

wreckingcrew 01-20-2004 12:44 AM

Seirously,

can we get some pics of swimsuits on models? Y'all are really disappointing me. :D

Kitso
KS 361 more hotties in swimsuits i wanna see on this thread

HotDamnImAPhiMu 01-21-2004 02:37 PM

361 times where have I been all your life, Kitso?

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/imag...ri/V235022.jpg
halter tops always seem to look the best on me. Tell you what's rough, though, is the type that tie on the back of your neck -- I have long hair and I'm always tying my hair INTO the knot, it's coming undone while I'm in the water, it's digging into my neck..... etc.

http://s.a.cnn.net/si/features/2003_...age_may_03.jpg
tell me this isn't cute. Victoria's Secret has some suits this year with prints on them, too -- like a white one with hearts.

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/imag...ri/V235042.jpg
This is the only Calvin Klein suit pictured with a cover up, so I think this is the one that was discussed earlier....

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/imag...ri/V235613.jpg
.... and this might be the black & white bandeau....

HotDamn,
