Britney's "Toxic" Video
 

Did anyone see "Making the Video" of Toxic? What a weird video. Seems to me like she's trying to be like Christina with the dancing and outfits she was wearing on the plane. Not to mention the black hair.....

So, what did you think?

I though it was great video. The special effects were cool. I liked the airplane scenes and the ones where she poisons the boyfriend. Oh and the diamond "outfit" was cool too. I wasn't feeling the red hair. And she did reminded me of Christina with the black wig. But I don't think she's trying to be like her. Did you read the smack she talked about her in Blender?

I saw the video. It's different. I don't know if I like it or not. I'll have to see it again.

I admit that Toxic is one of her better songs. It's one of her only songs that I can listen to without begging someone to change the station or change the CD. Yes, Britney-lovers, that was my attempt at complimenting her although it was backhanded. ;)

I agree that this is a song of hers I like. I couldn't stand "Me Against the Music".

Did you catch the part when Britney said the last version of her in the video was "the bitchy black-haired girl"? Then she kind of laughed after she said it. Hmmm.....

Oh, I didn't even think about Christina when she said that. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence that she looked like her in those scenes. Ha, that's funny.

I liked her video. I think its definitly one of the better videos Ive seen in quite awhile I mean with the special effects and all. I don't know if she was reffering to Christina about the bitchy black haired girl but who knows. I wasnt feeling the red hair on her but the makeup was cool. and all those gems on her WOW that was awesome! sure she was naked and all but it looked really good on her! Im not a big Britney fan at all but I really like this song and the video.

I haven't seen the video, but I heard "Toxic" for the first time yesterday (they're not playing it on the Canadian radio stations yet so I tuned into an L.A station on my computer at work). I'm sorry, but it was an awful song. I couldn't listen the whole thing. I know there are some Britney fans out here in GC land, but she reall is a talentless bimbo. I also heard her song outrageous for the first time too...another crap song.
I hope I don't see the video for Toxic.

Whats so good and different about it is that its not typical dancing britney i look forward to more of her videos

For those who haven't seen the video, msn.com let you download it. I found the video entertaining, whether or not I like the song. The first time I heard it, I didn't like it, but it kinda grows on ya. Though I know this will get overplayed and then I will hate it. The only thing I dont get with Britney is how all of her newer songs seem digitalized--as in, she doesnt really seem to be singing anymore. That being the case, it pains me to see someone with not so much talent doing well. I would rather see bands and artists with true talent be successful.

I finally saw the video last night on TRL! Weird. It's a totally different Brittany (that's for sure)! The motorcycle part and where she breaks the glass reminded me of Shania Twain's video to Gonna Get You Good. I was shocked with the bright red hair and make-up: not my favorite Brittany look. She looked like an S&M Vixen. Oh well.

Overall though, I love the song!

I'm still really impressed with this video. Just b/c its so different. Like I doubt Britney will ever want that red or pink hair again....but it really made it different. Glad so many of you liked it.

now i love that song and i love britney, but that video is screwed up. i just saw it for the first time and i personally thought it sucked. the only good part was when she was covered in jewels. i say that because it looked good compared to the rest of the video. i didnt quite understand the concept. now when i first heard the song, i had a few concepts for a video. for songs that i really like, i think of video concepts just for fun. anyway, my concept was a hell of lot better that the actual video. oh well.

okay i've never seen the video..but i've heard the song. all i can say is this: i've never done acid, but i would imagine that the way people (voices) sound when you are tripping would be similar to her vocals in this song.

Basically Britney was responding to what Christina had said in the December Blender. She said that Christina is really the "lost little girl". And that she is "dark and scary".

Britney doesn't normally respond too much to celebrity criticism, but Christina has said some things out in the open and then played nice to Brit. I don't understand how someone can kiss Madonna too and then say she shouldn't have kissed her and it was all for publicity. Okay, so maybe it was....but you kissed her too. It doesn't really make sense.

Christina says a lot of things that don't make sense. I like the girl , but she can be so riddiculous. When she compared herself to Van Gogh in the article, I just rolled my eyes. A friend of mine was like, "does that mean Dirrty is her Starry Night".

I admit it, I love Britney and Christina :) I've seen them both in concert; Christina I've seen twice.

Me Against the Music I really like, and Toxic I like even better. I think all women can relate to having an experience like that!! I haven't seen the video because I rarely watch MTV or the like.

Okay so this has nothing to do with TOXIC....but this is an article on Britney's cousin and friend at LSU. It just reminds me of why I love Britney when they point out the good things, and you know they aren't lying b/c they are never interviewed!!! I posted the link, but I copied the BRitney part below. No "Team Britney"

Laura Lynne Covington, a mass communication senior, and Jansen Fitzgerald, a kinesiology senior, were hesitant to talk to The Reveille.

They said they have been misquoted and misrepresented many times by national media about their relationships with pop icon Britney Spears, who they have known well since the three were in daycare together.

Covington and Spears are cousins, and Fitzgerald is a close friend of both.

"Everything we say is directed toward Britney," Covington said.

Covington and her family have pulled their contact information from public directories.

Fitzgerald said life usually is calm, but reporters knock at her door "when something big happens."

Photographers also have shown up trying to snap pictures, without giving any consideration to their personal lives or even their health, Covington said.

"Paparazzi would show up at the house," she said. "I had a cold, and my mom has cancer."

But Covington added she was comfortable talking to "credible" publications that can help clarify what she called "plagiarism" on the part of other media.

"In the Zone," Spears' latest album, just re-entered the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart and has sold 1.8 million copies since its November release, but commercial success has not been the focus of her latest media attention.

Since Spears' Jan. 3 Las Vegas wedding with Southeastern Louisiana University student Jason Alexander, she has been the point of media scrutiny -- and her friends and family also have been hounded by media.

Alexander and Spears' marriage ended two days later.

The Jan. 19 issue of People magazine quoted Fitzgerald as saying she, Covington and another close friend had "talked it over and decided we won't say anything" about the short-lived marriage.

However, Fitzgerald said she never talked to anyone from People magazine. Reporters talked to other people from their hometown, Kentwood, La., and cited her as the source.

Covington said law suits could be in order because of the false information, but she said they would not be worth it.

"Because it was [related to] her, it would cause such a media spectacle," she said.

People magazine also reported Fitzgerald and Covington are part of a "core group" that has been called "Team Britney" -- which they said is also untrue.

"We've never been called that," Fitzgerald said.

Aside from media hounding, college life with a friend or cousin who is world famous is peaceful -- with a surprise now and then -- for these two.

As Covington sits in her living room, where TV channel E! had filmed a special about Spears the night before, her favorite "surprise" from Spears bounds toward her.

Spears gave Covington a Yorkshire Terrier three years ago. Gabbi, wearing a 1-inch-wide hair bow to keep the shaggy hair out of its eyes, is a playful dog about the size and weight of a large TV remote control.

Other presents Spears has given to Covington and Fitzgerald have included holidays in the Caribbean and trips to New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The gifts are more expressive of Spears' personality than what the media often portrays about her, Covington said.

"People think she's this big-diva-bossy-pop star, but she's not," she said. "She's just a normal person."

Both enjoy occasionally traveling with their continent-hopping pal, but said the "strenuous" life and the "Hollywood scene" is not for them.

"It takes a special person to do what she does," Fitzgerald said. "We'll go off for a week with her, and when we come back we have to sleep."

To Covington, Spears is still her cousin -- the girl she used to ride with on wooden "sleds" pulled by four-wheelers in the Kentwood countryside. It's difficult for Covington to think of Spears as anything other than a "normal, self-conscious college-aged girl."

"I'll say, 'You looked good on that [magazine] cover,' and she's just like, 'Thanks -- What are you doing?'" Covington said.

But Covington and Fitzgerald still get "star struck" by other celebrities -- including TV star Kelly Ripa of "Live with Regis and Kelly," movie star Vin Diesel from "The Fast and the Furious," and Spears' former boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

"My favorite person was Kelly Ripa," Covington said. "He [Justin] is a really nice guy."

Fitzgerald, who usually talks to Spears a few times a week, said Spears rarely talks about her career.

"You have to get stuff out of her," she said.

Knowing that, Covington said if Spears has any regrets about her career, she has not mentioned any.

"She is an entertainer -- she's always known she's wanted to do that," Covington said about Spears. "She's said, 'I wish I could just go to the mall.'"

Spears would like to have a "normal" lifestyle and still be an entertainer Covington said, but she can not have a high-profile career without the fame following her home.

Although Fitzgerald and Covington are often interviewed to talk about Spears, they said they do not just sit around and listen to her music a lot.

"We like the music, but it's not like we just pop it in and [say], 'Let's jam to Britney!'" Fitzgerald said.

Covington and Fitzgerald want to just be "normal" like Spears does. They want to go to school and work without worrying about how their words -- or words "put in their mouths" -- could have public repercussions.

"We are not cool people," Fitzgerald laughed and said. "None of us are."

I've seen the music video and it was great. This is the best music video that I have seen from her. It's just a shame that she's not coming to Memphis. She hasn't been in Memphis since March 2000.

I swear, I thought that video was just a bunch of video-cliches all stuck together. Since everyone else seems to like it, maybe I was wrong. :p

i actually think 'toxic' is one of her worst. i used to love the song. but now that i have seen the video, i hate it
