Its that time again...

Time for RECRUITMENT!!!!!!!!!

This will be Stockton's first time with Formal Recruitment!! AHHHH!!!!!! Personally, I'm nervous. I wanted to be a rho chi (or whatever we call them now a days), but was basically nicely begged not be because I know the most about formal...which is scary, cause I know almost nothing. Even though we will have a field consultant (which, btw we are picking up from the lovely ladies of Alpha Alpha chapter...I still don't know how that is working) I'm still kinda stressing about it- and I'm not even an officer anymore!!!!

Anyway, when is your spring recruitment? is is formal or cob?

discuss, discuss

and be prepared for me to be asking A LOT of questions on this bored in the comming weeks!!!

DL,

CARA

Formal starts on 1/27 and we have an FC too. Laura Hamilton. She'll be with us for Rounds 1 & 2 but not Pref.

Oh DolphinChica - we were thinking of sending her down to you via Amtrack. We did that with Princeton a few years back. We can get her into Penn on the LIRR, but then we'll have to figure out what trains go down to where you are. Unless you guys have any other ideas. Thanks!

TriDeltaGal 01-13-2004 12:10 AM

Good Luck to both of your chapters!

sugar and spice 01-13-2004 08:13 AM

Good luck, you guys!

We have informal rush in late January/early February. Usually about half the chapters on campus participate, but this year quota during formal rush was much lower than usual and so a lot of chapters aren't at total -- we could have as many as 10 out of 11 chapters doing informal rush, though it will probably end up being lower than that.

I'm excited and nervous, but we're usually pretty good at informal rush.

goldendelta 01-13-2004 10:51 PM

Thanks for the support!

Right now Alpha Alpha is at 26, total is 45 so we can take 21 new members (keep your fingers crossed!). As of the end of last semester 42 PNMs had signed up for formal making quota 10+ (as long as they all show up)! The new rule at Adelphi is that freshmen can only go through formal, they can't COB. So we our goal is to pick up at least 5 sophomores/juniors in COB.

Our formal schedule is:

1/26 - meeting with PNMs, Rho Gammas & Panhel Eboard to go over rules and split into groups

1/27 - Round 1 - informal "getting to know you" round

1/28 - Round 2 - Philanthropy night

1/30 - Pref

1/31 - Bid Night!

DolphinChicaDDD 01-15-2004 08:26 PM

Hey guys-

I PM'd the people who have been active on our board.

Since we don't have a tradition for Pref Night, a few people asked me to write something. But I'm one of those people who HATE showing their work.

So can you guys read it and give me some input? I'm not even ready to put it on the board yet, hence the PMs.

Give me honest feedback...I have to present this to my chapter on Tuesday...AHHHH!!

TriDeltaGal 01-15-2004 10:17 PM

DolphinChica, all I can say is Bravo!

I PMed you!

goldendelta 01-28-2004 11:57 PM

Ahhhh! Stupid snow! Only 13 PNMs showed up yesterday, so many had to miss Round 1 because of the snow. Round 2 was postponed till tomorrow. The girls that didn't show yesterday were waived the "must go to all parites" rule because of the weather, so they should be there tomorrow. I hope so, cause freshmen aren't allowed to COB. The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow, but I heard more snow for Friday.

Keep your fingers crossed that more potentials come tomorrow!

TriDeltaGal 01-29-2004 02:22 AM

Good Luck GoldenDelta and to our Alpha Alpha chapter!

Sending good delta vibes across country!

DolphinChicaDDD 01-29-2004 08:18 PM

Tonight is registration night!!!
AHHH!!
I get to go and find out what quota is, becuase I'm Panhel, but tonight all the PNM just hear the rules and such. I'm excited to find out what quota is...last year it was 10. But since we came on campus, we're hoping more girls come out for formal.
And on monday- ALL THE FUN STARTS!!!!

TriDeltaGal 01-30-2004 01:20 AM

Good Luck DolphinChica and the rest of our Stockton Tridelts!

I hope that some of my info. helped and keep us updated!

goldendelta 01-31-2004 05:42 PM

Bid Day!

I just got back from bid matching and Alpha Alpha has 3 wonderful new members! We got quota! :D

COB starts on Tuesday and we hope to pick up some more girls.

TriDeltaGal 02-01-2004 03:12 PM

Congrats Goldendelta!

DolphinChicaDDD 02-01-2004 06:43 PM

thanks to everyone who gave me info to help us with formal!!

we had a disappointing show on thur night for registration. we decided it was due to the snow and the fact that we had a 3 day week last week, so really only had 2 days to publicize. so panhellenic decided to have a table on monday where anyone who didn't know/couldn't decide about recruitment a chance to sign up. we're hoping to get at least 15 more girls. last year, 60 girls went through formal, not counting the 35-40 who came to our COB event. Everyone was hoping for 75 girls this year, and only 45 showed up.

eta: I WILL MISS ALL OF FORMAL RECRUITMENT!!! AAHH!!! after planning this week since october. health services told me to go home...how sad is that??!!

congrats to adelphi!!!!!

DolphinChicaDDD 02-12-2004 06:44 PM

UPDATE!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know how recruitment went...

We only got 6 girls during formal. Quota was 9, we were a little disappointed that 3 girls declined. (Which is another thing that annoys me...if you know you are not going to accept a bid from tri delta or anyone else, why bother writing the sorority down? thats 3 other spots other girls may have wanted)

But....

In the grand tradition of our chapter we just COB'd 3 girls today, and are possibly looking into more. One girl who dropped out of formal, and possibly another scholarship risk. We already took on one, but everyone loves this other girl, so they want to bend the rules. And these are the same rules we voted on last week. The membership selection committee is trying to get into contact with our CDO...I have a feeling our 'short' chapter meeting after formal pledging tonight isn't going to be so short....

Hope everyone else's recruitment went well!!

goldendelta 02-25-2004 06:16 PM

Alpha Alpha's final Spring Rush results - 7 awesome new members. One of our formal girls had to drop though because her grandmother really wanted her to be a Delta Sigma Theta even though they are not at Adelphi. But our 7 new pearls are great and we love them.

3DeltaSupernova 02-26-2004 06:25 PM

I hope to be able to report some new members soon for the Gamma Nu chapter here...though it means I'll have to learn a ritual I've only been through once as a new member myself!

We've been trying to COB all year (we're the only sorority on my campus who usually needs to COB, and definitely the most public about the option...side effect of being the youngest sorority on campus), and tonight is our first major event of the new semester. We're having a catered dinner in our lounge, with at least 11 PNMs attending.

If any of you have any ideas about ways to help our COBs or other recruitment ideas, I would greatly appreciate it...we're a chapter that's somewhat in trouble. Right now we have 30 members (smallest sorority on campus as is) and 10 are graduating seniors. Thanks!

Delta Love and Mine,
Ashley

I realized I never updated you guys after spring rush . . . our chapter did fabulously. We pulled in seven new members (which is, I think, the second-most on campus after Gamma Phi, out of seven sororities doing spring rush) and they are all amazing women. I haven't been around too much, but I went out with them right after rush ended and talked to most of them and they are all girls I would love to call sisters.

TriDeltaGal 03-01-2004 12:11 AM

Congrats to all!

DolphinChicaDDD 02-11-2005 01:17 AM

**BIG FAT BUMP**

How did everyone's chapter do last semester and this semester?

Fall 2004- Stockton (Gamma Omega) welcomed 16 new members, bringing them to total again! There was alot of us who graduated in May, sniff sniff

Spring 2005- I just found out the girls got 13! Quota+3, which brings them above total. Don't ask me how, CPH decided to do the partially structured formal recruitment. Things got all sorts of confusing, and something about they could take up to total (55) and then up to quota (10) for the entire semester. Which makes no sense, because it actually means total is now 65 for all the sororites. Eh, its not my panhellenic mess to clean up anymore.

In sadder news, Gamma Omicron at Princeton is closing. :(

HelloKitty22 02-11-2005 12:19 PM

Congrats to you Stockton!

But can I just say I am so sad to hear Princeton is closing. :(

goldendelta 02-11-2005 12:30 PM

Congrats Stockton!

In the Fall Alpha Alpha had 6 amazing new members. Bid day is today and they better let me know how it went. We extended 28 bids last night at pref, I hope at least 10 accept.

It is sad about Princeton, I didn't know that they were struggling.

JupiterTC 02-11-2005 01:24 PM

Epsilon Delta met quota with 40 new girls, and this is our very first formal recruitment! We are currently COBing up to total, so the new member class will be about 50 or so.

goldendelta 02-12-2005 05:06 PM

Ok, I just got back from Adelphi and Alpha Alpha has 11 new members! They are such a great group. We have another COB on Tuesday and we might be able to get some more! This brings our total to 36 right now and I've never seen our chapter this big.

HelloKitty22 02-12-2005 06:23 PM

That's so great!!! Congrats to Alpha Alpha!!
Goldendelta, are you a chapter advisor for Adelphi??

Yes I am!! And I love every minute of it.

TriDeltaGal 02-13-2005 12:20 AM

Wow! I'm off of GC for a couple of days and all of this Tridelta news!
Congrats to all on their successful recruitment!

I'm really sad to hear about the Princeton chapter closing. Hopefully we will be hearing about a recolonization in several years...

sugar and spice 03-01-2005 01:41 AM

Mu chapter at Wisconsin got 10 girls through spring rush, I think -- the biggest spring pledge class! I believe 30 girls were placed altogether. I'm not sure how many sororities were doing informal rush this semester, but it was at least four, probably more.
