Did the chicken sandwich shrink?
I went to McDonalds last night for a quick drive through and ordered the McChicken sandwich combo meal. Now, I have not been to McDonalds in a long time, but when I got home the damn sandwich was about the size of my thumb.
|
ok.. you know what else really pissed me off.. well their supposed new and improved all white meat chicken nuggets taste exactly the same, except they shrunk in size! I was like WTF... they get all hyped up to introduce their shrunken chicken nuggets.. that was the only real change. so yeah, their chicken sandwich probably shrunk too
|
AznSAE, I'm pretty sure they feature a chicken sandwich on their new "Dollar Menu". Do you think maybe they gave one of those instead of the regular chicken sandwich? Because, yes, those things are tiny.
DZGirl, I have to say that I LOVE the new white meat McNuggets! I think they taste a lot better than the old ones. But after reading your post, I'm starting to wonder if my new enjoyment is psychological (ie: I feel I can freely enjoy my McNuggets because they no longer feature chicken lips, feet and whatever sundry chicken parts) in nature and they really don't taste different at all. But then, I put on so much barbeque sauce I could be eating styrofoam and not know it. |
i have to agree - the new chicken mcnuggets don't taste any different. when you want nuggets, wendy's is the only way to go.
|
I wonder if their change to all white meet had anything to do with them having to meet certain FDA regulations? Pure speculation here, but it sounds about right.

Dollar Menu
I just discovered that the items on the Dollar Menu seem to have changed. The sizes that are a $1 appear to have gone down (say from a M to a S)... Anyone else notice that?

Have you all tried those Select Strips from McDonald's? I absolutely love those things! They're back now, but I don't know for how long...they had them before, about a year ago, and they offered them long enough for me to get hooked and then they took them off the menu! How dare they! I didn't eat at McDonald's for ages after that...partly because I don't really like anything else they have other than fries, but mostly because I was ticked. That's just mean. :p

I like the new McNuggets better...they do taste basically the same, but the texture isn't icky like it was...if that makes any sense.
Personally I'm waiting for the Chicken Parmesan sandwich to return! ...actually when I was in NYC, the McDonalds on 42nd Street (near Times Square) had little tiny donuts that you could buy, called Mini McDonuts. This is similar to the Diddy Donuts you can get at Burger King in England. I'm waiting for those to come out this way! |
Now I haven't paid too much attention, but do they advertise ALL white meat? Because I feel like every commercial I've heard has just said "now with white meat" which led me to believe they just mixed white meat in with the chicken sundry parts.

I haven't been to McDonald's for food in a long time. I like their ice cream flurries. Is that the name? Anyway it is good with M&M's. |

They taste teh same to me too..... The only thing I eat from there are the chicken strips and SOMETIMES fries. I don't eat them anymore, but they have mozzerella sticks too now. |
I like the McRib.
And I hope it comes back one day. There; I've just admitted that in front of everyone! :) |
I love mcdonalds regional food even though i dont eat it. The chinese food, the yogurt drinks in the middle east, the brats in the midwest, and i hear hawaiian box lunch type deals now too.

They have Lobster Rolls in New England and the thought of Mcdonald's lobster makes me uncomfortable. They just introduced a "Philly" cheesesteak here (in the DC area), I don't know if that's supposed to be regional or not. We'd probably need the McCrab Cakes, but I'm pretty sure they know that would be blasphemy.
|
yeah, i was driving past mcdonalds today (in NJ) and i saw a sign for cheesesteaks. i think i'll pass.
|
McDonald's Philly Cheesesteak = Yuck!
|
Has anyone here had McDonalds outside of the US, like in other countries? I heard that they have their own special sauce and meat (I don't even want to know about their meat). But, some say its yummy.
|
I've been to McDonald's in Japan and Israel. The menu items are completely different. In Israel, they make veggie burgers to avoid the whole kosher meat thing. They're actually really good.

Vincent Vega: Allright, well you can walk into a movie theatre in Amsterdam and buy a beer, and I don't mean in no paper cup. And in Paris, you can buy a beer in McDonalds. Now you know what they call a quarter-pounder with cheese, er, in Paris?
Jules: What do they call it? Vincent Vega: They call it Royale with Cheese. Jules: Royale with Cheese? What do they call a Big Mac? Vincent: A Big Mac's a Big Mac. But they call it Le Big Mac. |
We've had the McPhilly Cheesesteaks here in the Chicago area. I haven't ordered them though.
I had McDonalds in London this summer. Most of the items were the same...although they still use the styrofoam package and the small, medium, and large drink sizes there are what the kiddie, small, and medium sizes here are. (which is what the small, medium and large sizes were in the US many years ago) They did have some different things...they had a pasta salad which was pretty good. And of course, McDonalds in Canada has poutine, which I think is disgusting. (apologies to any Canadians who like it!) |
When I got shipped to Germany courtesy of Uncle Sam, I did what most Americans do... have a Big Mäc und ein Bier at the SuckDonalds in the Trier Marktplatz. The German Mickey D's call the Big Mac the 'Big Mäc' (with umlaut) and the Filet-O-Fish is called the 'Fisch Mäc'. Fries are 'pommes frites'. And the beer was cold and on tap (vom Faß). :)
You want Booger King, you gotta go on base, though. |
:p The McDonald's food I can stomach are the breakfasts and the yogurt parfait.
Eating lunch or dinner at Le McDonald's is only asking for Le Massive Puke later! |

In Israel, some of the resteraunts, mainly the ones in Jerusalem, are labeled "Kosher" - There will be no dairy at those resteraunts, no cheeseburgers, etc. The others, like in Tel Aviv, the modern Jewish city, it's a regular McDonald's. The prices are extremely high compared to the United States, due to the price of beef in the region, because of the Mad Cow scare in Europe, etc. A kids meal cost me about 20NIS in 1999, which would be about US$5. |

...but I DID see it in Montreal. :D |
i believe they did a turn with tacos out here...
and then there's the embarassment of their breakfast burrito. |
They had pizza here in the Chicago area for a little while. Not all Mickey Ds, just certain ones. I never tried it but I heard it wasn't very good.

What is...
What is poutine?

Cheese CURDS??? Like cottage cheese or something? Oh well, I'll usually try most any new food :)
I have a McDonald's story about my mother-in-law. Most of the longtime GreekChatters know how I feel about that, ahem, dear woman. Anyhow, she will not eat fast food. She likes to *pretend* she's Miss Healthy Eater, but by the looks of it she's making up the absence of fast food elsewhere. Once she and my father in law and some other relatives were over and everyone else wanted McDonalds so she was overruled. My husband offered to run out and pick up the food and when she was hemming and hawing about what she wanted, he suggested a fish sandwish. Her response? "What kind of fish is it?" Stupid biotch; it's the Rare Rectangular McBottomfeeder http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/splat.gif |

Mind you, Winnipeg, Manitoba has a hood called St. Boniface, and they have the largest French speaking community in Canada outside of the province of Quebec. But that is another story... And KillarneyRose, as for the Monster in Law, we used to have pizza in Canadian McDonalds a while ago (like 10 years ago) but they are no more. Also, we do have veggie burgers (the patties are from this place and you know what, they are not half bad...). There is also the "Lighter Choices" menu that has salads that are really quite tasty, light wraps, that kind of thing. http://www.mcdonalds.ca/en/food/lighter.aspx Those links oughta keep you busy for a while?? ;) |

You can get poutine at A & W (that other fine fast food dining establishment) out West, but not at McD's.
Oh and the Cheese Curds is Curds of Cheddar Cheese, without the orange dye (i.e. they are white). You can buy bags of cheddar cheese at the grocey store. Source: My roommate.... |
