JaimeNicole 01-13-2004 03:20 AM

beta phi from the university of maryland has bid day on feb. 4th! im so excited to be on the "other side" for the first time!

FirstAndFinest 01-13-2004 01:19 PM

Gamma Pi (Wagner College) has Bid Day on Feb 13. Unfortunatley, last semester we started out at 35 and only CORed three new members, so we fell below campus total of 45. With 11 Seniors graduating, we're looking to pledge quota (hopefully putting us ovver total). Wish us luck!!

HBADPi 01-17-2004 03:18 AM

I heard from a collegiate sister back at Eta Beta and she said they had 50% return rate for 3rd night (which is awesome for us) and 20 girls show up for 4th night pref ceremony. Apparently there is only like 54 girls or so going through formal recruitment right now so quota will be small. Bid day is TOMORROW!! I'll update y'all as soon as I know.

HBADPi 01-17-2004 08:21 PM

ETA BETA MADE QUOTA WITH 12 NEW ALPHAS!!!

This is the beginning of a new era for eta beta at allegheny I can feel it. Of the 4 chapters on campus, only two were able to make the quota of 12 girls without snapbidding - Kappas and Adpis. This is the first year that we have made quota in a couple of years without snapbidding and we are now tied for the largest chapter with Kappa!! :D We've come so far from when I pledged 4 years ago and we only had 20 or so girls and now we're 71 strong. I'm so proud of my girls :D

ADPiSAI 01-17-2004 08:32 PM

congratulations! that's great news!!

honeychile 01-17-2004 08:50 PM

Congratulations, Eta Beta!!!!

This is really interesting- I've never seen recruitment rounds named this before. Is it formal recruitment? What do you do on these days? Fortunes???? Games???? My curiosity is running wild.

polarpi 01-18-2004 01:50 AM

Congratulations Eta Beta on making quota! :)

Not to be a *downer*, but please keep the Eta Psi women in your thoughts....formal recruitment ended last Sunday, and they didn't receive any Alphas (long story here, if you want details, please PM me)....I know they're rallying themselves up for COR, but it was a pretty tough blow to them after going through a wonderful recruitment week.

PhiMuLady150 01-18-2004 01:54 AM

not an Alpha Delta Pi but I believe Furman University has it's Bid Day, today (January 18th)

Hey, thanks for the info...I'll add them to the list, and if you hear anything about how the chapter does, could you please let us know? Thanks!

it's informal recruitment! our formal one is in the fall, but we still have a recruitment week in the spring, just full of COR events.
as for these... the first day, we'll have all kinds of tea, one of the girls will be reading tarot cards and stuff like that. the second night, we'll have lots of board games and split up into groups so we can get to know the girls better individually. the last night is a spa night!

Amazing 1st time on "the other side"!

This week has been my first time "on the other side" of Recruitment, and also our 25th Anniversary year to boot, so this amazing week has been an excellent way to celebrate both. Our chapter is competing with Theta and Chi-O, the top houses on campus, for girls-which is usually not the case! Our 2nd round return rate was 75%, 3rd round was 81%, and Pref return rate was 63%(around 60's). We had 170 girls coming through for Pref, and Panhel quota is somewhere around 50!! Our chapter is really getting the results it deserves this year-we'd be happy not to have to COB or snap bid for the first time in awhile! Only three more hours until we get the bid day list-I'm so excited!!!!!

texas*princess 01-18-2004 12:11 PM

oh yay!!!!!! Please keep us updated vandy_violet!!!

honeychile 01-18-2004 12:50 PM

Omigosh!! Recruitment results from TWO schools on the same date!! Be still, my heart!!

Thank you, PhiMuLady, for letting us know about Furman! I hope we get the results!!

honeychile 01-18-2004 12:54 PM

Deserving of its own post!

I think we should rally around Eta Psi, and try to let them feel the Sisterhood!! Polarpi, is there an address (email or snail mail) where we can send messages of encouragement to them? I can remember one abyssmal rush, and the ladies of Montevallo somehow heard about it, and really encouraged us - reminding us that our sisterhood is the BEST, no matter how the rush went! I would certainly love the chance to return the favor!

Sure! I just PMed you back with the info, and I'll put it here:

Alpha Delta Pi
130 Scheele Hall
Valparaiso, IN 46383

I remember how last semester there were a few of us who sent notes of encouragement to Brianna's chapter, and I remember from the note I received back from them that they were very appreciative and loved the notes of encouragement, and I'm sure the Eta Psi girls will feel the same way!

Blue Violets 01-19-2004 01:34 AM

Bid Day was today for Omicron.

We made quota (we always do) with 36 fabulous new Alphas!!

We had a fantastic recruitment here at Duke, with 86% return rate for pref night alone.

I am so excited with our new Alpha class. They are absolutely wonderful young women and I can truly honestly say that we are the "Finest!"

vandy_violet 01-19-2004 03:45 AM

Zeta Rho made above Panhel quota with the largest pledge class on campus-48 Alphas!!! We are so excited! We were so successful this year that let's just say there will be many twin diamond sisters for my pledge class (and I definitely wrote "I WANT TWINS" on the top of my diamond sis matching survey).

honeychile 01-19-2004 09:37 AM

Woo Hoo!! Bunches of Violets to both Omicron & Zeta Rho!!!

honeychile 01-19-2004 02:32 PM

CathyXO was kind enough to post the Furman results - ADPi took the quota of 33!

Congratulations, Eta Phi!!!

ADqtPiMel 01-19-2004 04:51 PM

Eta Epsilon took quota of 44 new alphas today! :D

polarpi 01-19-2004 08:01 PM

I have updated the first post with the results as of now....congratulations to our newest sisters!!! :)

Sorry it took me a while to update....I was helping out with the middle school lock-in at my church last night :D

honeychile 01-19-2004 08:19 PM

Wow!! Everything's coming up Violets !!!!!

Jen, let's hear about the lock-in, too. Maybe we need an "extracurricular" thread...?

Congrats to Zeta Rho and all the other chapters that have had successful recruitment!!! :D Honey you're right everything is coming up alphas and violets :). Just curious though...how are you allowed to take more than the quota set by panhel? Did you still have room after quota to fill up to total?

vandy_violet 01-19-2004 11:48 PM

We're a smaller house so Panhel made an allowance-even with the new girls we are not up to total necessarily.

honeychile 01-20-2004 01:42 AM

Very simplistic explanation!

During Bid Matching, each PNM who can be matched with her first choice is done on the first round, then a second round is conducted for the second choices. Sometimes, this overlaps. Once a chapter reaches Quota, the very excited alumnae are permitted to announce, "Quota!" and then they keep tabs on the others on their list (actually, you keep tabs on where everyone is going).

So, every PNM who can be matched is matched until each chapter reaches Quota (in theory). But, Jane, Jenny, Jill, and Jessica have suicided ADPi and you've reached Quota. TECHNICALLY, the chapter can extend up to 10% over Quota in such a case - but as this rule is made for the good of the greek system as a whole, sometimes a chapter will take a higher percentage rather than have Jill & Jessica realize that they were second stringers. Does that make sense?

Of course, then you have the snap bids up to Total, too - so say Total is 100, Quota is 20, but your chapter has only 50 members. Then, you can take Quota (20), Quota Plus (2 more), then Snap Bid 28 more!

And it's amazing how poorly I did in math, but I can do Quota/Total in my sleep...!

Yeah, but listening to your explanations, I wish I had more experience with the Total/Bid Matching/Quota machinations!!! :)
