What are you doing tonight?

It's New Year's Eve, so what's everyone doing tonight? I'm going to be attending a party downtown with friends. It should be fun!! :)

honeychile 12-31-2003 01:47 PM

We're having an EARLY dinner, then staying in for a cozy night.

An alcoholic I used to know referred to New Year's Eve as "Amateur Night", and that's enough to keep me in! :)

librasoul22 12-31-2003 01:53 PM

My roomie is giving me some highlights and then we begin partying, lol. I am going to the club for midnight though.

I have to work at 5am tomorrow morning but I already informed my supervisor that if I do make it, I won't be good for much.

mu_agd 12-31-2003 02:01 PM

i'm going to Bell In Hand, a bar in Fanueil Hall, with some friends. it's going to be so much fun!

ADPiAkron 12-31-2003 02:06 PM

I am going to a bar in North Canton...about 30 min South of where I live. It is going to have the whole nine yards- dinner, champagne toast, party favors, open bar, etc. Then my boyfriend, my sister, her boyfriend, and I are going to stay at the other couple that is going with us house in North Canton (we will get there by cab!!).

Hahah. My mom tells me the same thing about all the drivers during the holiday season. Before FI and I go out, she says "be careful, all the amateurs are out"

FI and I will probably stay at my house and count down with the GameCube and a bottle of champagne.

I've got to work ALL DAY so I'm not going to be in the mood for much. We could maybe meet up with some old friends from college/HS, but its kind of depressing - we're getting married, have jobs, i'm in law school; they sit around and get stoned and work at dead end jobs. No thanks.

AGDee 12-31-2003 02:35 PM

Two days ago, I told the kids they each invite 1 or 2 friends to sleep over for tonight. Today, I woke up with a cold. My daughter already has one friend lined up and the friend my son invited hasn't decided whether to come here or go to a birthday party he's invited to for tonight. I have a feeling I'm going to regret the whole thing since, by the time this kid decides he isn't coming, my son won't be able to get another friend to come. My son is going to be very upset, I'm not feeling well.. ugh!

We're going to teh Delt Sig house for the annual New Year's Eve party.

How dumb am I? I thought the sign for champagne said 2/$6..... So i bought 4.

It came out to $57.

Kevin 12-31-2003 02:41 PM

Going out to BFE to party.

Never been an alcoholic, but I've said for years that I'm staying home on New Years Eve because all of the amateurs are out.

Middle daughter, though, is going to be a "beer tub" girl -- selling beer -- at a club called B-52 in downtown Denver. Fortunately, she has a friend who lives just a couple of blocks away and will spend the night with her.

Hope the other two kids use their heads! Hope all of you do, too.

Happy New Year.

winnieb 12-31-2003 03:04 PM

We are going with a couple of other people to a Japanese Steakhouse for dinner, then to Westport (KC bar district), and probably to breakfast on our way home.

For those of you from KC--the plans are GoJo's, Westport (kelly's), and probably Chubby's.

Be careful everyone!

ZTAMich 12-31-2003 03:14 PM

Helping out with a middle school girls sleepover, hosted my my little sister. And no James, you cannot come. ;) My ZTA man is heading to some crazy party in NYC. Boo hiss.

I'll be making a call or two at midnight for some happy new year kisses, even if they can't be real.

Peaches-n-Cream 12-31-2003 03:20 PM

I have a date with Dick Clark. In other words, I am staying in. I never go out on New Year's Eve. Maybe we'll go out for dinner. New Year's Eve is ridiculously expensive in New York. The one thing that I wanted to do costs almost $550 per couple. I'll pass on that.

valkyrie 12-31-2003 03:42 PM

I'm not sure what we're doing. I sort of want to go to a big huge expensive thing in Denver, but I also sort of want to keep it low key and hang in Boulder. I'd like to hear some good music, though, and have some delicious beverages.

Munchkin03 12-31-2003 03:42 PM

Don't know. I only have one friend in Florida now (all the cool ones moved away). I don't like going out to the beach 'cause all the stupid drunks are out. Picking up Boy in an hour. :)

G8Ralphaxi 12-31-2003 03:51 PM

I'm going to a party at the house of my best friend's husband's dad. I've gone to their party every year for the past 4 years. Always a good time.

The Ex-BF will be there, so I have the perfect See-You-In-Hell outfit (anyone who's familiar with the Ettiquette Grrls knows what I mean!). Should be fun - we haven't seen each other since I went to his house to pick up my stuff last August.

Thank God for alcohol...

...and the possibility that my Publix Boy will come (see what I wrote in the Dating thread) - I actually invited my random grocery store hottie to the party! :D

The etiquettegrrls. Gotta love 'em! :)

jharb 12-31-2003 04:11 PM

I have to go to this family thing and play card games with my 10 year old cousins because my car is in the shop and my mom refuses to let me take hers to Indy. My boyfriend is mad at me over it and I really would rather stay home and do nothing. I HATE being home! For some reason my parents think that a 20 year old college student would think that New Years Eve with family would be fun! :(

ADPiSAI 12-31-2003 04:53 PM

I'm delivering Chinese food until 10 or 11.
After that, my boyfriend and I are going to his sister's place to hang out and watch the ball drop.

TriSigma4Life 12-31-2003 04:54 PM

I'll be at the bar....

That is, WORKING at the bar! Arrgh! I got stuck closing tonight. Some new years this is gonna be. :(

Hope everyone has a fun and SAFE new years!

sigtau305 12-31-2003 05:06 PM

Got a room reserved at the downtown Raddison Gateway Hotel for tonight, So I will go all out and do some Major Bar Hopping. Along the way, I might stop by at the Fraternity House and see who's there.:)

On the bright side, you'll be making some bling bling. ;)

I'm going out with one of my high school friends who's fighting with her boyfriend and one of her friends from school. We're going to another friend's party and then seeing where the night takes us. I'm kind of hoping my friend and her boyfriend break up and decide they need to be together at midnight so that I can go kiss the boy I'm lusting after, who's partying with her boyfriend. :p

I got a great NYE present today when my manager called me at 10 and told me not to come in because the store was dead. :D

breathesgelatin 12-31-2003 06:11 PM

Going to dinner at Cracker Barrel with my parents and grandparents, and probably going to bed early. January 1 is kind of a drag b/c it's my mother's birthday. We always do family stuff on the 31st and 1st.

DolphinChicaDDD 12-31-2003 06:21 PM

I'm going to a bar in Philly.

Go fig, I leave the NYC metro area, and everyone else runs in. But I could NEVER do the ball drop thing- you can't leave to pee:eek: you are stuck there all night long!!!

Unregistered- 12-31-2003 06:23 PM

Having dinner with the crazy family at my house and will wait for my best friend to get off work at 10:30. Normally we'd be rounding up the girls, but one's a mother now and another's on lockdown. So it'll just be us and our favorite gay friend Alu. We're going to this place called "The Beach House" at Aloha Tower for cheap drinks and a 12 minute fireworks display.

Best wishes for a great 2004 for everyone!

Buttonz 12-31-2003 06:24 PM

I'll be at home, sick while all my friends are off partying :( :( :( :( :( :( :( Happy and a healthy new years everyone!

Peaches-n-Cream 12-31-2003 07:13 PM

UPDATE:

We are going out! I am so excited! I never do anything on New Year's Eve.

astroAPhi 12-31-2003 07:21 PM

Heading to a friend's party who has decided to be lame is like: you can have a few drinks but you can't get drunk (or rather, she said that you have to be able to walk out the door. In my experience, there's a big difference there!). She told us last night all of a sudden that we can't stay over because her uncle is staying over. Complete and udder BS. We've decided to be obtuse and show her she can't ruin our New Years.

Tom Earp 12-31-2003 07:27 PM

Nope, Home Boy!

Since I am working tomarrow for at least Half day, I will do the Norm, Fall asleep and do it all over again! :(

Think I will put some wood in Fire Place getting ready for tommarow, Have Pork Roast tonight and Lobster and Boiled Shrimp New Years Day!:)

Please, Everyone Have a Safe and Semi-Sane New Years Eve!

Better Keep Us Posted if you made it or not!:D

Friggen Hang overs are not an excuse!:D

God Bless To All!:)

AOPIHottie 12-31-2003 07:33 PM

My GirlRoomie and I are staying home and drinking!! Our GuyRoomie left to go play some poker in Memphis (I think there) with the guys. So we get to have single girls nite!!! Even though we made him regret going by telling him we were throwing a "Midnight Lingerie/Champagne Bath Party" for the girls......He is SO disappointed he left!!!! He He He, that was fun to tell him too.;)
Especially since we are just chilling at home watching movies and drinking champagne and White Russians.

ThetaGirl1997 12-31-2003 09:36 PM

My fiance works until 9:00 - I rented a bunch of movies and we have a great bottle of wine we've been saving for a "special occasion" - so we'll be staying in!

PhiPsiRuss 12-31-2003 09:48 PM

I'm doing nothing :(

WCUgirl 12-31-2003 10:08 PM

:(

I was supposed to leave for Charleston for the weekend after I got off work today. BUT since I have been sick with stomach pains for the last week and even went to the hospital last night (it's not appendicitis, thank goodness!), we are NOT going to Charleston and will be staying in tonight because I still feel nauseated and crampy. This sucks! Although, I have lost 4 pounds in the last week because I have been unable to eat. :D

Dionysus 12-31-2003 10:31 PM

Going out to dinner w/ a few peeps. As for the rest of the night I don't know. I want to party like a heathen, but 90% of my friends are christian...and half of the other 10% are out of town and the other half I have not kept in touch with lately. So, I really don't know yet.

Peaches-n-Cream 12-31-2003 11:26 PM

Another Update:

We decided to stay in and eat, drink, and be merry by ourselves. Translation: I am on GC and watching Law & Order while my boyfriend is napping. I am waking him up in an hour to go out and toast the New Year at a bar across the street.

Happy 2004!

LOL, thats what I am doing too!! but I periodically stop on GC to finish laundry and re-arranging my room. I am SUCH a party animal!!!!!

WCUgirl 12-31-2003 11:54 PM

I'm watching the SVU marathon...I LOVE Law & Order! My husband gets so irritated 'cause I could watch it 24-7 if I could!

PiEp299 01-01-2004 12:27 AM

I'm gettin lit up while watchin the Arkansas v. Mizzou game then I'm gonna go raise hell on our wannabe strip.

Tippiechick 01-01-2004 12:29 AM

I am staying at home tonight. Hubby has to be up at 4 a.m. And, I can't really party like I used to (pregnant and all), so we're acting our age and staying in this year.

Cluey 01-01-2004 12:52 AM

I am watching the SATC marathon on HBO. Thrilling, I know ;)

I'm not really one of those NYE people. I don't like large crowds of drunk people spewing everywhere. Call me crazy! But, I do hope everyone else has a fun and safe night :)
