ARE YOU AVAILABLE? DO YOU HAVE ANY KIDS? IS THERE ANYONE THAT HAS KIDS AND CLAIMS THERE YOURS? HOW'S YOUR CREDIT? CAN YOU PROVE IT? EVER BEEN TO JAIL? WHY? CAN YOU FURNISH A CRIMINAL RECORD? WHAT KIND OF CAR DO YOU DRIVE? DO YOU HAVE ALL YOUR TEETH? WHAT'S YOUR WORST HABIT? DO YOU SNORE? WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON MARRIAGE? std's past and present? do you have a history of mental illness? do you have any jealous and/or crazy ex-girlfriends? any "special" tendencies? (if you read any of e. lynn harris' books, you will learn that this is an IMPORTANT question) are you, in any way, affiliated with suge knight? (that biggun is supposed to be getting out next month. i don't know him but i'm scared tadef) what is the relationship between you and your mother and father? (has the movie, "the brothers" taught any of us anything?) ------------------ I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? What did you get your mother for her birthday (indicative of his thoughtfulness)? Have you ever gotten into a disagreement with your mother & how did you handle it (indicative of his respect)? hmmm...my list would be... 1. are you an intellectual? *this doesn't mean have you gone to college because there are some idiots in higher ed* 2. can we have a conversation about other things besides entertainment, sports, and sex? 3. have you slept with the opposite sex recently? because i'm not into bi women...i only want to be with a woman who is out and proud! oh yeah and include in this if you have a baby daddy...i'm not interested. (oh i'm sure someone will make a derogatory statement about this one) 4. are you spiritual? do you believe in a higher power *not necessarily religious* 5. do you have goals? and have you acheived any of them? 6. do you watch movies that aren't just blaxpoitation? *yes folx most black movies today are just that!* 7. do you vote? 8. do you have a desire to uplift people of color and stop ignorance through educating people on a positive level? 9. do you like music other than hip-hop? i love my hip-hop but you have to have a larger collection than da souths booty hits. 10. can you cook? i mean can you at least make a decent vermacelli with sauce? 11. do you like to express your emotions? can you laugh, cry, be angry, be happy...in a healthy way? and don't give me that "i've been hurt b.s. everyone has been hurt...move on! 12. is your library larger than black formula books? i love my eric jerome dickey and bebe moore campbell too...but dayum i would hope that there is something else that stimulates your mind like...maybe..."being black: zen and the art of living with fearlessness and grace" or how about "The Century" 13. do you love your mtv, bet, AND CNN? 14. can i take you to parties held by my profs and not worry about what you are going to say? 15. can you change to fit the situation? *kind of a follow up to #14* can you chill with my friends or listen to a seminar at a wine and cheese social? 16. are you cool with doing activities that don't always cost an arm and a leg? *i'm a college student...so go figure* 17. is your reputation untouchable? i don't want to hear about how many folx you have been with when i introduce you to my friends. 18. do you love yourself? 19. are you proud of who you are? and what you have acheived? 20. are you open to other ways of thinking, other cultures and beliefs? 21. last but not least...can you be trusted? |

Keep in mind that it is imperative to ask these questions (at least the most important ones)when you first meet. Unlike Chris Rock ("when you meet someone you don't meet them, you meet their representative!"), I believe you probably get the most honest answer from someone in that initial conversation. Simply because they have no idea what you like or dislike, yet? Just a thought, now with that said here we go: 1. Do you have a career? If not, then do you have a job? How long have you been working there? (stability, yall) 2. In what salary range are you ? 30,000 - 40,000...41,000 - 50,000...etc. (for financial compatibility, who wants to take care of someone) 3. Do you live alone/roommate/with parents/siblings? 4. Do you/have you ever used drugs? any type 5. What is your belief on religion? Are you an active member of any church/temple/synague (sp?)? 6. What are your goals? Long and short term? ( really important) 7. Where were you educated? Did you graduate/what kind of student were you? 8. Are you homosexual/bisexual/homophobic?' 9. What are your prejudices? (come on now we all have some) 10. Any children/suspected children/expecting a child? If so, do you support them financially/emotionally? Do they live with you/how often do you see them? 11. Are you in a relationshop now? or sleeping with anyone? How do feel about your previous relationship? Are you bitter? How long have you been single? ( don't want no hostile, angry, scorn bag handlers,ya know!) 12. Tell me about your parents, siblings? Where is your family from? Were you born here/are you a US citizen? 13. What was the last gift you bought/and for whom? 14. What books/newspapers/magazines do you read? What programs do you watch? 15. How often do you socialize? Where do you go? Do you travel? 16. Any STD's, past & present? Any former lovers with STD's/any illnesses? 17. Ever been to jail/accused of a crime/or committed a crime and not been caught? 18. How is your credit? Proof? 19. What kind of car do you drive? Where do you live? (shows priorities, if he lives in the PJ's and drives a Lexus, Benz, Beamer, then his priorites are not in order) Or if he drives a great car, lives in a great neighborhood, but is sitting on crates in his living room, his priorities are not in order!!! 20. Ever sought/recieved psych treatment? do friends and family suggest you do? 21. Ever hit a woman? 22. How do you feel about voting/death penalty/the president/abortion/marriage & family/legalization of marijuana/stealing/criminal activity? 23. What are your views on morality/ethics,etc? Sorry for the long post but "the list" goes on and on. It's interesting that I'm reading this. I have a date tonight. This will help get things started a bit.
Here are some of my questions...we'll call them Nikki's Las Preguntas. 1) Where'd you go to undergrad at? 2) What was your major? 3) Why did you select that major? 4) What would most of your friends say about you? 5) What would your mother and father say about you? 6) "Are you saved?", "Do you have a church home?" (this is from the invitational portion of most pastors sermons) 7) What is your favorite book? 8) What would your pastor say about you? 9) Are you involved in any ministries at your church? 10) What led you to Christ? 11) What do you love most about your current job? 12) Where do you see yourself in 5 years? (this is an open ended question which may be an opener for the marriage, career, financial questions that may follow this up) 12a. I've heard that everyone has a "list", you know, those things that you are looking for in your ideal mate. What is on your "list"? 13) What is your favorite movie? 14) What is your favorite play? 15) Which artistic period best describes you? (this question as well as question 14 will help find out about the cultural literacy of the man) 16) Have you traveled outside the country?
