Al Gore's Son Arrested for Pot Possession

Quote:

WASHINGTON - The son of former vice president and 2000 Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore (news - web sites) has been charged with marijuana possession.

Albert A. Gore III, 21, was arrested Friday night after he was stopped for driving a vehicle without its headlights on.

Two passengers were also arrested and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession. They were identified as Yann V. Kumin, 21, and Marc G. Hordon, 22, both of Cambridge, Mass.

A Montgomery County, Md., police officer stopped the car, a dark-colored Cadillac, in Bethesda, a Washington suburb, around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The officer noticed the car's windows and sunroof were open, despite cold temperatures Friday night. There was also a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to a news release from the police department.

A search of the vehicle turned up a partial marijuana cigarette, a cigarette box containing suspected marijuana, and a soft drink can that also smelled of marijuana.

All three were released pending trial.

In September 2002, the younger Gore was ticketed for driving under the influence. He was pulled over and ticketed by military police just outside Fort Myer in suburban Virginia, but was not taken into custody.

In the summer of 2000, Gore was cited by the North Carolina Highway Patrol for driving 97 mph in a 55-mph zone. Under an agreement with prosecutors, a reckless driving charge was dropped in the North Carolina case, but he was fined $125 for speeding and his driving privileges in the state were suspended.
At least they didn't mention fraternity affiliation.

The1calledTKE 12-21-2003 02:14 PM

Hey Al has something in common with Jeb now. lol

madmax 12-21-2003 04:42 PM

Al Gore had something in common with Jeb the first time his son was busted and the first time his daughter Corin was busted.

Al Gore #2 was not in a fraternity. His son, #3, is in the Pike colony at Harvard.

Like none of us have ever had friends who have been in the same position. Or perhaps, deserved to be busted ourselves.

So true. If Al 3 says "he didn't inhale" then I'll think the situation's unfortunate.

So Al 3 got busted for weed. Alert the national freaking guard.

Not I.

Damn, I erased the rest of my response. I must be sick today.

krazy 12-22-2003 05:10 PM

I agree, who cares? It just affirms my opinion that Al Gore deserves no respect. He cannot even control his damn kid, good thing he wasn't elected. What a wet fish. Get his sorry ass out of the media, he is a loser, and deserves no press.

I don't think it has anything to do with not being able to control his.

George W. kids were busted drinking under age. Does that mean he can't control his kids? And if it does, why was he elected?

So, his kid got busted with pot. Who cares. It must have been a slow news day.

And I'm sure GW was keeping a close eye on his daughters when they got busted for MIP.

Not really an Al fan, but please let's not make any assumptions that his political actions are reflective of his parenting skills.

Ashton Kutcher said the Bush twins smoked up at a party at his house. They just didn't get caught. ;)

So, does that mean than any parent who has had a child who has smoked some weed is a bad parent?

I think I would take offense to that. Personally. Because I know that at least one of mine has.

Not only that, there wouldn't be many parents to respect in this day and age.

Come on, give Al some credit. He's a loser all on his own without even bringing his kids into it. :p :D

(note: this is a joke. please keep your thongs/boxers/genetalia untwisted. thank you, drive through.)

'Cause you can't steal something that's been given away. ;)

I made no promises about popular votes or Florida.

krazy 12-23-2003 10:10 AM

AL Gore is a joke.

Bush's daughters committed a crime, and drank underage. He should be repremanded for not raising daughters who would respect his authority. I feel bad for him.

But that is nothing compared to Gore who has an son who has an obvious drug problem/addiction. Drugs are a serious issue. I hope your sons and daughters don't smoke the cheeba. Al Gore the 3rd is a drug pusher/user/junkie.

For whoever mentioned that Ashton Kutcher thing, you are kidding I am sure.

Whaaaaaaaa? Has he ever been in trouble with the law before for drug use? The instance cited in the Post hardly sounds like a serious drug issue to me. If he killed someone to buy his ganje, then maybe, but smoking some pot hardly sounds like a JUNKIE to me. Get a grip.

krazy 12-23-2003 11:46 AM

Sounds like a junkie. Next thing we know he will be using Smack with his dad. That is why it is called a gateway drug.

bethany1982 12-23-2003 11:53 AM

Perhaps Al invented the bong and not the internet.

Pot is not a gateway drug. The whole gateway drug theory is ridiculous.

That is what ALL the smackheads say...

Personally, most of the potheads I know do coke now. Adds some irony to your statement doesn't it?

It is quite funny how they consider coke a normal "social" thing now, not much worse than pot.

See, this is how it happens. No one just "decides" to be a junkie, but they go from "experimental" to "junkie" pretty damn quick.

Keep thinking drugs are okay, that will get you far in life!!

33girl 12-23-2003 12:05 PM

If I was around you for any length of time, I would do coke too.

And incidentally...I know several regular pot smokers, and NONE of them do anything but pot, nor have they ever.

krazy 12-23-2003 12:09 PM

That's what you think, good friend. Why do you hang out with Drug Abusers?

krazy 12-23-2003 12:11 PM

C'mon, I am just eggin' you on, but I truely do not think drugs are good. I really do think they should be avoided.

Why does everyone get so angry?

33girl 12-23-2003 12:18 PM

Because even saying crap like "gateway drugs" in jest (if you are in jest) gives it more credence which it does not deserve.

krazy 12-23-2003 12:23 PM

Do you realy think it is a bunk term? I am interested... I feel that it is pretty legitimate. Seriously.

Please tell me why you think it is a farse, I would like to know. Maybe you are right. I am not being cynical by the way...:)

33girl 12-23-2003 12:36 PM

Very simply, because the people I know who smoke pot don't do and have never done anything else.

The only gateway theory I'll agree w/ is OxyContin to heroin.

Okay, but when did Oxy become okay? Do you think someone who didn't do drugs would go straight to Oxy? I don't. You see my point? Once one is okay, the next step is okay. No one would just assume that Oxy was okay.

(outside of the poor folks who were percribed oxy by their doctor's)

actually that is how most people got hooked on it. through their doctor, or dumb kids trying their parents'/grandparents' meds.

Yeah, but the frat scene holds a lot of users as well, unforunately. Anyway, gotta go. We should start a thread on this.:)

Lady Pi Phi 12-23-2003 12:53 PM

people start smoking pot because they want to experiment and it's the easit drug to get a hold of. If crack was easy to get a hold of, kids would have started on that.
