Poll - How Many People Got Their Coin Rejected At A Vending Machine?

another waste of a bandwith poll.

At work today, I was trying to get myself a coke and put in a R2 coin. For some reason it would not accept the coin. So I put in 50c, and it got accepted. Pissed me off, but not as bad as those machine that only accept a brand new crispy bills.

I've had coins rejected; usually dimes. I've had many, many dollar bills rejected.

Coin rejects

All the time...I am especially unthankful for the dollar-bill only machines...
What is an R2?

It is not soda, it is coke, pure and simple.

I hate when that happens. For me it tends to be dimes. If I happen to have a proble with a dollar bill I will stand there all day trying to unwrinkle it. LOL

Heeeere we go again.

I call it soda. However, I understand it when people call it pop. Anyone who calls it Coke regardless of Sprite/7UP, Pepsi, the Diets/RC Cola whatever is way off.

South African money. Rand is a banknote, like a dollar. And the coins are Cents. Is that correct Moe.ron?

A few times, mostly from Dollar Bills.

absolutuscchick 12-18-2003 10:59 PM

when I lived in university housing and I got food out of the vending machines every day, this happened ALL THE TIME!!!! It was sooo annoying. But I havent bought anything out of a vending machine since early this semester when I bought a pack of starburst... YES I AM RANDOM!!

Just a tip.. if a machine rejects your coin (and it's a valid US coin!), try rubbing the edge of the coin on the little rough metal part right under where the coins go in and try again. 95% of the time, it works.. I have no clue why.

Yeah one time the maching wouldn't kept my dollar in a hotel...so i walked downstairs to the front desk & they gave me another dollar & I got my coke from the machine in the lobby...I got back on the elevator & in walks Jason Mraz...he was alone & walking toward the elevator...I didn't know what to so...I let the elevator door close in his face...I'm a dumbass, I know--I didn't even try to catch the door.

Almost correct. :)

The banknotes starts at R10. The banknotes are R10, R20, R20, R100, and R200. R1, R2, and R5 are coins. THen you have cents which are 10C, 20C, and 50C.

Ditto that. :)

I hate it when that happens, too. The worst of it is when you left your dorm with only fifty cents to get a coke, the machine won't take one of your coins, and in the time it takes you to run back to your dorm the remainder (which the machine wouldn't refund) is gone.

Optimist Prime 12-19-2003 02:58 AM

yeah, that sucks when it happens...I need coffee

Lady Pi Phi 12-19-2003 10:55 AM

This happens to me all the time.
The Coke machine in our kitchenette in my office doesn't take quarters that are newer than 2000.
Everyone is always walking around the office to find a loonie or older quarters or nickles and dimes.

AOX81 12-19-2003 06:27 PM

It used to happen a lot when I lived in Michigan...I always had Canadian change in my pocket.
