Can someone save this from Ebay

Can someone save this from Ebay...it might be something memorable for EO to have if they don't already!!

LOL - that's my bid that you see there! The reserve price must be higher than $35, because I bid up to that.

It may take a day or two, but if Beth Hamilton doesn't bid, I'll email her about it.

ASUADPi 12-16-2003 12:52 AM

I just checked out the site and I'm glad to know that it looks like only ADPi's are bidding. Makes me feel very happy.

That Lambda Chi Alpha pin chained to the Alpha Delta Pi pin is pretty sweet - but I don't know any LXAs.

Do ya think Tom Earp would go halfsies with me? :D

I don't see why not...he's a pretty reasonable guy :)

Isn't there also a member of GC whose son just joined LXA last semester? I remember seeing it in the rush forum, but can't remember who it was at the moment....maybe she'd be interested in it for her son?

Thanks girls! I feel better now!

ADPI/LXA Pin

Hi,
I am a new member to this website and I really think that it is nice. Anyway, I saw someone post something about an ADPi and LXA pin that was posted in E-bay. I was wondering if you knew when that was posted and if it still is. I am an ADPi alum and I am getting married to a LXA next September. I think that would be a neat wedding gift for my husband to be.
Thanks!

ADPiAkron 12-16-2003 04:07 PM

I saw it last night!! I believe it is still there! Go to Ebay and do a search for Alpha Delta Pi. Look through the results and it should be there!

kennedy_ja 12-16-2003 04:14 PM

Do you think that there is anything offensive or "wrong" about these two pins being joined together or do you think that it would make a really nice and special wedding gift?

ADPiAkron 12-16-2003 04:16 PM

I wouldn't think so...I do not understand why they are joined together, but I think it would be a fine gift being you are both members of the fraternity and sorority.

sweetie adpi 12-16-2003 04:29 PM

i'm betting that the adpi was pinned by her lxa boyfriend and used it as her guard. while at districts a couple years ago, we met an alumna (proudly wearing her fifty year pin and other recognition pins and working the giftmart table) who had a sig ep pin as her guard, which was actually her "engagement ring" -- her boyfriend couldn't afford a ring while they were in college and gave her his pin instead. how adorable is that?

I would think it would be absolutely lovely! Let us know what your ebay name is, so we encourage people not to bid against you!

What chapter are you from, sister?

kennedy_ja 12-17-2003 01:01 AM

I graduated from Mercer University in Macon, GA, in 2000.

Thank you for all the great comments and feedback.

My ebay name in kennedy_ja.

So did any of you get the ADPi/Lambda Chi pin? Just wondering!

I see "beigroup" won the auction for $122.50. Does anyone know who that is?

adpishan 01-03-2004 11:16 PM

It looks like "beigroup" is someone who buys up old pins. Their history shows that in the last month the have bought pins from all different sororities & fraternities. :(

Grrr.....

It might be worth our while to let the other GLOs know about beigroup, then. They've been kind enough to let us know when ADPi pins are up for auction!

Blue Violets 01-11-2004 08:32 PM

I have a question.

When should we have learned about the rules of what we can and can't do with our pins? I know that we should only wear them when in "pin attire" for example, but beyond that, is this in ritual or something? (obviously if it is, don't respond!! & I'll ask my MEVP or something or look at Pride Online).

I only thought of this because last month my mom (who is a KAT) gasped when she opened a "Hallmark" magazine and saw a Theta pin off its backing and soldered onto a charm bracelet. Apparently this is against Theta rules (to do anything with a pin other than wear it).

WLFEO 01-11-2004 08:52 PM

I think it's in the handbook you get when you're an Alpha, but I may be wrong.

polarpi 01-11-2004 10:52 PM

Here's another pin up on ebay where the bidding ends tomorrow at 2:48 Pacific Time:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145

I don't know if the current high bidder is an ADPi or not, but just thought I would let you all know!

honeychile 01-12-2004 12:41 AM

I do have a question about pin attire, and wearing the pin: if you have a necklace or ring made out of the pin, are you not permitted to wear it with anything but pin attire?

This was unclear to us when I was a new member - we often wore the pin with jeans.

WLFEO 01-12-2004 02:47 PM

I THINK it's OK to wear your badge as a necklace or ring with any attire as long as you look halfway decent and not like a teen singing sensation (ha ha).

I don't have this in writing anywhere that I know of but I'll look through some of my ADPi notebooks.....

So much for having my pin made into a naval ring!!

Oh, yeah - like I'd be caught dead with that, LOL!!

thank you sooooooo much for asking this because I was wondering the same thing!!!

I told my parents that instead of a college graduation ring, I really really wanted a new jeweled badge mounted as a ring, so needless to say, I was pretty curious about this.

honeychile 01-12-2004 03:12 PM

texas*princess, I said the same thing! :)

I did rescue a pin/ring from ebay - but silly me, I didn't ask the size first! The previous owner must have had the skinniest fingers in the history of mankind! I need to see how much it's going to cost me to have it resized. If it's over $50, I may be offering for sale here!

Just to let you know, my mom DID win the sale, so another ADPi pin is safe! :)

Yeah! Chalk one up for the sisterhood! :)

just out of curiousity (or for my lack of ADPi jewelry knowledge) do you think that maybe back in the day, whenever that pin is from, that it is from the alpha pi (george washington univ) chapter? it seems like a really cool pin alternative. (not that anything could ever replace the diamond :D )

I wonder if (back inthe day) this was the necklace alternative for the badges, unlike what Gift Mart has for us today? It is really gorgeous...I'm gonna keep an eye on it, but I noticed the current high bidder is the same person my mom won the badge from yesterday, so I don't know, maybe I'll have to convince my mom again to put in a bid on the last day of the auction

And it arrived in the mail today...hooray! :D

It's so gorgeous....so my mom said "Happy early Birthday!" :)

I don't know if I could wear it out in public, though....it's weird to think that it was another sister's pin who lost it or something else happened.

honeychile 01-24-2004 09:09 PM

Polarpi, wear it with pride! You are an initiated sister of Alpha Delta Pi, and I'm sure that the original owner would rather you wear it than a non-sister!

For the sake of arguement, let's just say that it was lost (like my bracelet), and you happen to be wearing it when someone gasps, "That looks just like the pin I lost last year!" I'm sure you & the original owner (assuming that she can prove that it was hers) can come to an agreement. If she truly lost it, and wants it back, she'll do whatever she has to do for it!

Thanks for putting it that way....I'm proud that I've been able to save such an important symbol of our sisterhood, yet am sad that for whatever reason, it was out there needing to be saved.

Maybe when I get involved with a chapter I'll suggest doing a TME about our badge and what should happen to it when you do eventually pass on :)

Pin rescued

(JAD and other Eta Psi GreekChat members- you girls finally convinced me to join after reading all your hundreds of posts!)

This is my first post.... and it is in regard to pin etiquette. Last summer I rescued a pin from E-Bay. It's a gorgeous pearl and saphire badge, but unfortunately a few of the pearls are missing and the clasp is broken. Should I just write this off as memorabilia rescued from non-ADPi members and buy another one off E-Bay that is in working order, or can I get it fixed? Since it's not my badge, I'm assuming the company that normally fixes our pins for us won't fix it, or will they? If they don't, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get the pearls replaced and the clasp fixed? I'd like to wear it someday if possible. I think it's from the 30's? The hands are not raised off the black enamel. Unfortunately, there is no date, chapter or initials on the back to identify it.
Thanks so much!

Has anybody seen this ring on ebay? It seems nice, and I was wondering if anyone had one.

skerbow 01-26-2004 10:57 AM

It is a neet looking ring. But keep in mind it is aluminum. So it will bend, unlike what the ad reads. My guess is that it is similar to those metal etched rings that can be found as a low price toy at arcades or in dime machines. Do you know what I'm talking about?

If you get one, I would be curious how much like the ad it is.

honeychile 01-26-2004 11:10 AM

You're probably right. I was thinking that, at $4.99, it would make a nice New Members class item - a little different from the Bid Day T-shirt, or an addition to one.

ETA: if you go to his site (listed on the ebay ad), it says that you can get the rings as low as $2.50 each, and there's a variety of styles.

JaimeNicole 01-31-2004 01:19 AM

just wanted all you ladies to see this.....(sorry if this is a repeated post) but i saw this badge on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11013

i was sad, because it seemed like it was a sister selling it because it says "i paid $190....."

maybe someone can convince her to make sure it gets sold to another sister!

skerbow 01-31-2004 04:08 PM

I spoke with her about the badge. I don't think there is any convincing to ensure it lands in a sisters hand. She seems a little bitter. Here is what she said.

"The initials are BMK, initiation date is 03/2001, EO chapter. I was an ADPi but am not any longer so I am selling. I can't wear it anymore so I have no use for it."

sad
