Saturday Night Live

Is anyone watching? Can anyone else obviously tell that Al Sharpton is just totally reading the cue cards?

Peaches-n-Cream 12-07-2003 01:10 AM

Al Sharpton can really dance and sing. :)

lionlove 12-07-2003 01:34 AM

Huh? My NBC station is showing best of Steve Martin...I thought that was odd. Does everyone else have Al Sharpton?

Kevin 12-07-2003 01:37 AM

Theodoric of York = my favorite SNL sketch..

kdonline 12-07-2003 01:40 AM

Al Sharpton is on here.

BTW, that really WAS Paris Hilton, right?

Peaches-n-Cream 12-07-2003 01:50 AM

Some NBC affiliates aren't showing Al Sharpton because he is a Presidential candidate, and they are concerned about equal time provisions.

yeah, bf was complaining about that last night...

Al Sharpton came to my campus last spring. He was a great speaker. He had a great sense of humor and a good rapport with college students. He seemed like he'd be a really great guy to just chill with.

I"m sure he's a great guy to chill with too, but that doesn't mean he'd be a great president.
He is really funny though!

that may be true,

but at least the Dakotans have enough balls to not censor SNL for fear of Democratic backlash. ;)

It's OK bro, i know you're just a bit upset over the game. Double the points that K-State hung on you guys and you'll get a feeling of where i was at a couple weeks ago :D

i've noticed lots of guests do this.

GeoffZ 12-08-2003 03:38 PM

They tell the hosts to read the cue cards and not memorize their lines. It's just that some people do a better job of making it look like that their not reading the cards. But, that wasn't the case with Al.

Honeykiss1974 12-08-2003 04:13 PM

I saw SNL Saturday and I'm in Kansas! :D

Al is a great speaker, but I too thought you could tell he was trying to read cue cards. :o Other than that, I thought he was ok.

aabby757 12-08-2003 04:18 PM

It's not necessarily a matter of being "concerned" about equal time provisions, in some states they had no choice but to not air Al Sharpton's SNL on Saturday night.

Just like in California, they couldn't air Diff'rent Strokes reruns or Terminator because it gave those two canidates more tv time than the other candidates.

Though, technically, a NBC affiliate can choose to air the network program or not or to rerun a program or not. It's not a given that whatever the network has that the affiliate will automatically run it.

Just wanted to bump this thread because I thought a lot of the season finale is funny as hell.

Does anyone still watch this? It makes me laughs out loud every week!

Taualumna 05-21-2006 01:13 AM

Yes, I watched it tonight. Is Tina really leaving? They made it look like she is.

I just read last night in Entertainment Weekly that she and Tracy Morgan will be in a new show. So most likely, yes.
