pin on ebay
This AOII Pin is pretty with rubies in the Pi....I hope an AOII gets this one!
|
 Whoa, wouldn't I love to get that for ASLFRose!
|
That's my all-time favorite style of badge!!!! Sigh!!! It's so gorgeous.
Bad thing is the auction still has 5 days to go. It'll be interesting to see just how much this one finally goes for. PS--Carnation, if you decide to bid on it, let us know your screen name so we don't all outbid you. ASLFRose would adore that badge! |
I think a collector got it, s/he has won other badges in recent days as well. :(
|
|
whoaaa.... that badge on the ebay link olemissglitter posted looks very, very, VERY old!!! how old do you think it might be?? dannnggg... talk about history!
|
Beryana's our resident historian, so I bet she can tell us!
From checking my handy dandy AOII history book, Phi chapter (Kansas) was chartered in 1918. I'll guess that establishes that most likely this badge is no older than that. |
However...
There is no record of a member with that name....unless the member requested that her married name be used in the data base. Right now, there is no way to accurate data that badge...

However....
Sorry...I tried to find out about the badge....
The badge was checked using every possible combination of first andt last names as well as using only string letters of both....no matches... What do you mean "the record"? Is there another source for info? :) Many roses and happy thoughts... Silver |
Silver, are you using the database on the website, or another we are not all allowed to access???
If it is the Sister's side of the site, they must actually have logged on to the internet site at some point to be listed. I know because there are many sisters that I know that do not appear when you do a search on either them, their chapter of initiation, or their city of residence. If there is another source I'm not aware of please let me know. Thanks! |

You can email headquarters. Email the receptionists and she can look it up for you, depending upon her work schedule. She has access to a big database up there that we do not have access to on our secret side. You can email her and she is pretty prompt at replying back. She has helped me in the past verify our legacies going through recruitment.

Anyway, I have to run, get home, some last minute shopping, pack, and be to work at 5pm. Keep your fingers crossed as I have an interview in Indianapolis Wednesday morning for a flight attendant position! Roses! Sarah P.S. Silver, I'm going to have to hold on the visiting - though the airline I'm interviewing with next week has a base in Knoxville so I might just MOVE down to TN. . . . |
thank ya much
thanks OleMiss- I think that I just might look into that. I wonder what other information that lady holds....

Exactly
Thanks, OleMissGlitter! Bingo! You are correct!
As for the age of this badge, I was concerned because of the badge's shape, color (as my dear Beryana so elegantly stated), and position of the clasp (you can see it distinctly above the A) that it might be a pre-1920 badge. Silver |
There are two AOII badges on Ebay.
This one is gorgeous! I hope an AOII gets it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145 |
Here's a Pledge Pin if anyone needs one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145 I lost my badge on campus last week. I'm sooooo sad. I came home and cried. I had just ordered it. I probably only got to wear it like 5 times. I keep looking on ebay hoping that someone will put it up! |
Ladies of Gamma Sigma, one of your chapter badges is on ebay....and another is being sold by an AOII!(I sent her an email saying that Stella would not appreciate our badge being worn by a non member.)
Man...what is wrong with people! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11011 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11011 |
Here's another one...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145 you've got til sunday ladies! |
Proud of our Advisors!!!!
Sisters may be happy to know that one of our FABULOUS advisors won the bidding on the Gamma Sigma badge that was on eBay!!!!! What would we do without our AAC!?!?!?!?!
|
That's great that the Gamma Sigma badge is safe!
I have a question for all... what do you think of non-Greek or non-AOII's buying our badges on Ebay? I don't think it is right - to me, our badge symbolizes the beauty and inspiration of our ritual and is a reminder of the vows that we made. Does everyone else feel like this? |
Unfortunately, in a free-enterprise system combined with the wonders of the World Wide Web, badges and pins will be available to the person with the most $$$. I used to get a lot more upset about it, but these days the only ones who get under my skin are the nasty ones, ya'll know what I mean? :)
There actually are people who collect them for the beauty and symbolism to them (member or not). Many of the collectors are GLO members themselves, and do have respect for the badges (but want a full collection!) There are also those who collect whatever, and decided for whatever reason to collect GLO pins/badges. WE know what our badge stands for, they don't, and they're never going to know. To most of them, it's a pretty bit of gold and stones that you can't buy in stores. Exclusivity and all that. To us, it's everything. It means more to us because we know and we care. And trust me, we do! I collect a lot of things, including a baby collection of sorority history books (one AOII and two non-AOII.) I love reading the other ones even though I'm not in that sorority. Maybe one day I'll have a shelf filled with sorority history books, and I promise you all will be read and loved. I'll also have a provision in writing to ensure these items are sent to our HQ when I die. I have a much bigger problem with a member or former member selling her badge instead of turning it over to the appropriate party. It's so infuriating to see something like "like new, for sale by former member" or whatever...or have an alumna in good standing sell her badge on ebay. Both have happened in recent years, and that truly bugs me, because THEY know and WE know. Make sense? Roses, Christin |
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...910214413&rd=1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...910213955&rd=1 Two gorgeous badges. My badge, my great-grandmother's, is exactly like these two, only from Omicron and 1924 was her initiation year. |
Those are gorgeous... I will have to keep an eye on them. If the price doesn't get completely outrageous, I will put in a bid to save one of the pins.
I don't bid until the end of an auction.. don't want to run it up any more than necessary. :) |
OH MY GOSH
i cant believe it, those badges are both going for under 10.00 (one at .99 cents and the other at 9.50) this almost makes me want to bid on them so an AOII would have them. E-Bay may just finally get that credit card number after all (i hate giving it over the internet). I guess we will just all have to see what those badges go for.

Jonnelle
Jonnelle,
Good to see you my sister. I have been thinking about you and praying for you. Hope you and your sibling are well. So sorry to have heard about your loss. Roses, Silver |
Ohhh pretty badges. I will have to watch them...a certain lil sis of mine is missing a badge. =P
|
Those are really pretty badges. I might watch them also for a little present for myself. LOL
|
I'll be watching them as well - actually I set my calendar to remind me on WED. I need a new badge since mine got stolen, and I really love the vintage ones.
|
By the way, we should all probably let each other know our ebay names so we don't compete with one another.
mine is suzwhite with a bunch of numbers after that I can never remember. =) Though I think it's my birthday so you would hope that I would. =) |
Suz, I can't believe you didn't tell me about these!!! OMG, I am soooooo bidding on one of these! I'll see you in a few minutes to pick you up for Roseball!
|
Yay! Both badges were not sold to a collector! Yes, I know, international frowns upon us buying badges from ebay, but I'm still glad.
:D |
