Congrats on your new position. Good Luck. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Kevin 12-04-2003 09:53 PM

Yeah, congratulations! It's a good job. Some folks will do lots with it. Others will do nothing.

thank you

thank you for the support. its nice having people from other glo's be happy for you and take the time to congratulate you. its funny on this site people who would normally be rivals or even enemies are friends. people who you may never talk to because of the letters they wear, people who could possibly be one of your best friends get avoided and overlooked, and possibly hated. its sad. but sadly i am guilty of the same quick judgement. i look at a rival fraternity member reguardless whether or not i know him and pass judgement automatically. this website has opened my eyes though and i think it could definitly benefit all. i like the quote that one of you had, no matter the letter we are all greek together. its true, by going greek you get into a whole other ball game. other people stereotype you as greek party drunk, or haizer the same way we look at other greeks and say some mean things. i hope everyone hear has thought about that and maybe stopped some of the greek on greek hatred, cause we are all greek together.

Kevin 12-08-2003 09:19 PM

Dude, when you get right down to it, we all value many of the same things no matter what the letters. That's what GC is about. Besides, you should be praying for every single fraternity on your campus to succeed. The bigger and better they get, the bigger and better you'll get.

Chapters don't exist in a vacuum. They exist on a campus. Greeks are perceived a certain way on that campus. You'll attract the right or the wrong people based on the campuswide perception of Greeks. As PR VP you can make a huge difference here.

exactly

a lot of greeks dont realize what you just said is true. they want to crush out everyone who is anywhere close to their size, which isnt good because then the competition isnt there and then you slack off. plus like you said with the greek life thriving, the more greeks the more involvement and the bigger the rush, because you can pretty much say your either an athlete or your greek, cause if you are not your nothing.

What made me see this was when your PKA boys came to UCO. We hesitantly supported them. Since then, rush numbers have gone up for everyone. We've been adding about one new fraternity every 2 years since us (then PKA, then TKE was rerecognized).

Congrats on EVP. That's exciting stuff.

mattpike 12-09-2003 08:42 PM

it is an awsome thing. i am trying to bring the pikes to durant. i would love to start a chapter there. you should look into it as well. they are a smaller school like ada but with a thriving greek system. oh and ksnake my boss is a sigma nu from colorado. he is a cool guy. and thank you Sig Kap.

That1LoudChick 12-09-2003 09:39 PM

If they go, prepare for your HQ to call on ya'll:D

It wasn't long ago that the PKA's colonized at Central Oklahoma. Those folks brought the thunder... Affiliates from other chapters and as many as five advisors. Yup.. only took 'em a year to charter (took us 3).

Cool about your boss. I hear the Sigma Nu house at Colorado is a sight to see.

mattpike 12-10-2003 05:16 PM

yes

we did colonize quickly but it was much easier having you guys support. you guys always seemed to have our back so we didnt feel so alone in the process. but who has a house and who doesnt. we are still looking and you guys have a nice one established. much nicer than acacias might i add. hope you guys continue setting the standard.

It's an interesting place right now. As I understand, IFC is almost a situation where you have the older chapters usually voting as a block and the newer chapters doing the same. PKA always had some of the best damned parties on campus:D

mattpike 12-13-2003 11:26 AM

it is interesting

it truly is an interesting place. and we enjoy you guys coming to our parties. but the first party i went to in college was a sig nu party at clarks house, me and one of my friends going through rush. you guys were cool as hell. you took us right in and made us feel at home. it was between you guys and the pikes, i had too many friends in acacia and didnt want to end up like them. i dont like the way they do things. its not a brotherhood. my roomate went pike so i did as well. i didnt want the rivalry in the small dorm room. but im glad i did because i have garnet and old gold in my blood. i dont think i would have felt as complete anywhere else. i love this fraternity.
