Everyone needs to take a good look at these categories and take a mental note -- since these categories are not going to be televised . . . you need to know who the winners were up against since you are not going to be able to get a chance to see it.

lovelyivy84 12-04-2003 03:09 PM

Wow, it was a truly unspectacular year for r&b.

abaici 12-04-2003 03:46 PM

I have a million comments...but I'll only state a few

1. Yay for Anthony Hamilton, Floetry, Outkast, Ruben, Roy Hargrove and Pharrell

2. Um, arent the LL and Em songs like so 2 years ago??

3. Ok, why does it feel like they sneaked in Kelis and Musiq (love Milkshake though)

4. Again, maybe it's me, but I didn't know MC Lyte had a song out this year

5. The Grammy's never fail to disappoint me. Every year, Queen Latifah or Will Smith will be nominated in the rap category

AKA2D '91 12-04-2003 03:48 PM

Eligibility: For recordings released during the Eligibility Year October 1, 2002 through September 30, 2003
Note: More or less than five nominations in a category is the result of a tie.

MeezDiscreet 12-05-2003 12:58 AM

i'm very happy for anthony hamilton, but uh...WHERE IS NAPPY ROOTS??? "wooden leather" is probably the best hip hop album by a group or duo released this year!

AKA2D '91 01-13-2004 10:22 AM

According to TJMS (from Blackamericaweb.com) Luther is scheduled to appear at the awards show. Supposedly, he is shopping for tuxedos.

Super Bowl Episode Prompts CBS to Heighten Safeguards for Grammys
17 minutes ago Add Top Stories - Los Angeles Times to My Yahoo!

By Randy Lewis and Elizabeth Jensen Times Staff Writers

Stung by outrage over Janet Jackson's breast-flashing episode during Sunday's Super Bowl, CBS said Tuesday that it would use an "enhanced delay" during its Sunday telecast of the Grammy Awards so that any "inappropriate" audio or video could be cut before reaching viewers.

SEE...ttbs*(that's that bullsh*t). I can't believe that the NARAS is going to allow themselves to be censored in any way. Talk about your generalizations and stereotypes...

9dstpm 02-04-2004 11:19 AM

I was watching ET (Entertainment Tonight) last night and the host said that Luther will not be attending Sunday's ceremony. :(

It was also said that NARAS or the FCC (I forgot who) will be looking to have Janet and Justin banned from the ceremony.

*shaking my head* This has become nothing but a witchhunt. (sigh)

AKA2D '91 02-08-2004 11:56 AM

ttt: Tonight
watch? boycott? what?

RedefinedDiva 02-08-2004 02:40 PM

I don't plan to watch. I am boycotting the entire show.

lovelyivy84 02-08-2004 03:06 PM

I would say boycott, but I wasn't planning on watching anyway, so it's more like proceed with my normal schedule of events.

All I know is Justin T. = PUNK

lostnfound117 02-08-2004 11:47 PM

HC i was sad when 50 went up on the stage with those best new artists of the year (why black folk always gotta show out?)

HC Farnsworth Bentley was off the chain with that umbrella?

HC I was kind of happy Christina got a grammy though she looked a hot a$$ mess and I didn't like the Janet Jackson comment?

HC Beyonce looked so pretty on her Dangerously In Love song?

Did you see her trip during her performance? lol, but she did look nice in her dress.

Gina1201 02-09-2004 01:20 AM

My take. . .

50 was DEAD wrong for doing that. He reminded me of ODB from the Grammys like 5 or 6 years ago.

Mary, WTH were you thinking with that ugly yellow coat?!?!?:o You're my girl and all but COME ON!!!

Beyonce tore up Dangerously in Love!!! Did anyone else notice that Jay-Z was sitting with her, with Mama Knowles in the middle like a chaperone.

I LOVED the fact that Outkast won album of the year!!!! :D I am rocking The Love Below right now.

The "House of Funk" we could have done without. BOO HISS!!!

Justin there is no need to apologize again for the Superbowl. Are you feeling GUILTY?!?!?!?! And why are you trying to look like a fake Chris Martin from Coldplay.

Gina1201 02-09-2004 01:25 AM

Alicia Keys and Ashanti both wore Roberto Cavalli (sp?).

GRITS 02-09-2004 01:33 AM

Yall know I'm a HUGE beyonce fan- she tore up that song, they could've just ended it with that.
I did see mama tina sitting in between them, did anyone see the red carpet? Were they together?

50 cent made me so mad! That was rude, walking up there will not make them change their minds!

Bulletin: CHRISTINA aGULIERA HAD CLOTHES ON DURING HER PERFORMANCE!

I enjoyed the performance, but I would have liked to have seen some more awards, IMO.

feu_declipse 02-09-2004 09:08 AM

I didn't see the whole 50 fiasco thank goodness. I love Outkast, I was loving Beyonce and I definitely noticed Mama Knowles chaperoning. LOL.
HC All of ATL went on stage w/Outkast when then won??
HC I refused to watch any of the parts involving Justin.
HC I was switching back and forth from other shows
HC It was decent but I wasn't overjoyed
HC Maybe I'm getting too old
HC I like Alicia Keys
HC Lil' Kim was covered up?? (a bit)
HC SHe and Xtina might have had the same designer
HC I didn't like the Janet comment either
HC TOTALLY IRRELEVANT
HC Boo Hiss!!!

AKA2D '91 02-09-2004 09:11 AM

Ummmmmmmm ya'll....Luther. :( I'm glad he wasn' there. :(

lovelyivy84 02-09-2004 10:17 AM

Wow, the world is upside down!

I HATE what everyone except ALICIA KEYES and ASHANTI are wearing!!!!!

Black is white and white is black!!!!!

And Beyonce done gone back to Popeye's I see. Woo!

nikki1920 02-09-2004 11:07 AM

I thought the show was waaay too long.

Highlights: the intro (Prince), EWF (WOW!!), P-Funk, Celine's performance (after the technical difficulties), OUTKAST (:D), and Beyonce.

Lows: Christina's outfit for "Beautiful", 50 cent crashing Evanescense's moment (that was tacky AND ghetto) and the fact that they "uninvited" Janet, and Amy Lee's dress.

ETA: Justin had to apologize or else the Grammys would not let him perform. And anyone who tried to address The Controversy was quickly shushed.. see the article in today's Washington Post..(www.washingtonpost.com).

Monique 02-10-2004 06:01 PM

well

All i have to say is that Beyonce toreeeeeeeee it up....She looked so pretty and sounded so good. I was not surprised that she decided to do something classical and smooth after all the fuss over Janet:rolleyes:. This was her big nite and she didn't want anything to get in the way.:D

AKAnka 02-10-2004 06:45 PM

Okay maybe it is just me, but I am highly upset that Justin was able to perform but Janet's services were no longer needed. Her B***B didn't come out on its own. I don't care if he apologized or not, (Janet has several times!), he still shouldn't have gotten to be on the show. I think it is a bunch of mess!

Nevertheless, I waited through that horrible drawn out show just to see Outkast. Well worth the wait! I was really happ they one the award. Beyonce did sing the mess out of that song.......BUT, I was like is she done..wait no..okay...wait...no.. ok for real this time. LOL!

I'm sure it had to do with the censorship of the show. She looked like she was suffocating between that outfit and the dead animal on her head.

I was LOL at Beyonce's mom sitting in between Jay Z and B. She was just scowling.

Felt really bad for Alicia Keys and Celion Dion because of the audio problems.

Justin, Justin, go away.

What in the hayle is he wearing?? He did not age very well either. Anna Mae Bullock, on the other hand, looks absolutely marvelous.

CrimsonTide4 02-11-2004 10:25 AM

Ike Turner looks like a belated Christmas present wrapped up still under my wreath neighbor's tree. In other words, a fugging mess.

Is it just me or does his woman look like a much younger Anna Mae Bullock!?!!!??

Ike looks like hell. Bobby, this is your future!!

Conskeeted7 02-11-2004 12:29 PM

I too was disappointed with Mary J's tribute to Big Bird outfit.

Beyonce was gorgeous and sounded great. I'm glad that she and JayZ sat kinda near each other. I mean, we know they're together...what are you hiding now?

Booooo...to Alicia Keys singing 'house is not a home.' Why didn't anyone think to let Ruben sing during the Luther tribute  He remade the man's song for goodness sake...

Also, I was having a hard time liking Queen Latifah's outfit. It just didn't do anything for her. I think she's trying to look more feminine, but that just didn't work.

i'm too through with solange's weave!!!! mama tina is looking like jay-z better not even be thinking about what beyonce looks like with out her clothes on!! lolololololol!!!

prayerfull 02-12-2004 04:05 PM

The crazy school that I teach at has craked down on the girls' internet use and accessing "chat rooms", so they've blocked a whole bunch of IP addresses....including GreekChat. Boo-Hiss on them.

So, I've been waiting to comment on the Grammys all week. Here are my notes:

1. Beyonce: SING TO YOUR MAN GIRL!!! I ain't mad at 'ya one bit. You can just tell that she completely tuned out everything around her and centered focus completely on her man. I really do hope that Jay Z is serious about B, 'cause she's in love for real.

2. Patti Labelle: What is the phone number of your plastic surgeon, 'cause miss thang is lookin' about 38 years old.

3. Christina Agui...WTF...: Lose the black hair. It's horribly unattracticve.

4. Justin: You must be Bill Clinton's love child, 'cause I think you got a little brotha in you...stop trying to fight it.

5. Alicia Keys: Why oh why can't she wear a dress for once. She tried to fool me this time. At the piano, it looked like a beautiful ball gown....then boom...she get's up and she's got jeans on in the front.

6. Faith: Girl, you're lookin' alright now, but you better head on over to Curves and start that 30 minute program...'cause the truth is out on your white powder diet.

RBL 02-12-2004 10:22 PM

My take

1. I think Prince should have performed by himself
2. I thought Beyonce sung the hell out of Dangerously In Love but I thought the ending was a little much it seemed like a 10 minute performance..but she looked GREAT
3. Christina gave the best performance of the night
4. I'm glad 50 Cent was shut out
5. Andre 3000 was ok to

BirthaBlue4 02-13-2004 10:53 PM

I was mad at Christina for trying to put some soul in her song.:D

Alicia, I love her, but she did not do that song right at all, sorry.

Celine was excellent as usual.

Samuel L. had toooooooooooooo much fun doing his intros.

I'm surprised George Clinton got out (he was caught with some crack not too long ago)

The girl singing with the Black Eyed Peas, I don't mean no harm, but she needs a biscuit, she can put her feet together and you can still walk through LOL, I'm sorry, that just bothered me.

All Beyonce haters need to just go ahead and sit down, because she ended it, she KILT Dangerously in Love, I mean she KILT it (yes kilt, you gottta spell it like that when its that crucial).

Outkast brought the house DOWN, 2 TIMES!

I can even tolerate Ursher and Alicia, as long as Fiddy, Lil' STD and ems get shut out.
