Favorite Christmas Catalogues

I don't get too many of these, but one I like is Norm Thompson.

Any good ones out there with unique gift ideas?

Greekgrrl 12-04-2003 11:04 AM

I don't remember the name of it, but I found one a while ago that was sort of pottery barn knicknacky and very nice looking that was *packed* with really nice (non-cheesy) angel stuff. If I didn't pitch it in the holiday cleaning spree, I'll post the name for all the Pi Phis.

My current fave, however, is Sur la Table. They have a pink espresso machine. It's just the most fabulous thing ever. Unfortunately it's $700 :p But that, and the rest of the catalog, is good for drooling over.

Neiman Marcus's 2003 Christmas Book

You know you want the 44 carat fancy yellow diamond ring...or the made to order mermaid suit.

LOL!!! I've just gotta get that mermaid suit! Think it might drive Hubby crazy and lead to some "hot monkey love"!!!:D

I've always been a fan of the Victoria's Secret catalogue. Whether it was Christmas season or not :D

I like candy catalogs. Best one ever: Susie's South Forty Confectioners...sweets to die for! I get my DH's favorite stocking stuffer from there--

Hand made Pecan Toffee covered with Belgian Chocolate.

I can never decide what to order, though. Lots of Texas themed stuff.... check it out! Yummmm...I may have to have my brother in Midland pick some up for me this weekend!

Totally forgot about James Avery Craftsman

Men-you cannot go wrong if you buy something for your Sig. Other from this catalog. Its handcrafted jewelry--made in the Texas Hill Country. They are famous for their religious items & sterling silver...but there are only retail outlets in TX, OK and GA, so the rest of the world misses out (unless you get on the catalog mailing list).

Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, and Victoria's Secret :D

breathesgelatin 12-04-2003 02:23 PM

One of my sisters just got the Cartier one. I don't think any of us will be purchasing anything, but it's nice to  at it!

ToBeSororityGrl 12-04-2003 08:58 PM

GeekyPenguin 12-05-2003 04:03 PM

tiffany's...
one must dream big

aephi alum 12-06-2003 10:47 AM

Co-sign on the Tiffany. When ours arrives, it always ends up prominently placed on my husband's desk with a few pages dog-eared ;)

Also, Swiss Colony. Most of our friends and business associates get something from them - petits fours, or cheese and sausage for those on the Atkins diet.

Funny thing with SC, though - One year, we decided not to place an order with them. The next year, we got a catalog from them with a special offer because we were "one of [their] most valued customers." I guess their business has really dropped off with the recession and all.......

With the mermaid suit, it says "creating an extremely realistic blend of female and fish", but what if a man wanted to buy it for himself???
These days you just never know... :p

Or because their plant is located in a place to create a stupid intersection in Platteville and they attack people at job fairs saying "Want to work at our headquarters in MONROE?" No, we def. don't. ;)

I'm a big fan of Tiffany's for pleasure and J.Crew for stuff I'll actually get.

For the kids--the Young Explorers catalog!

All you older GCers--remember the thrill when the Sears Christmas toy catalog would come?

I don't have a favorite in particular, but I saw one from the National Wildlife Federation organization when I was waiting to get my hair cut and colored. They had some really gorgeous items that featured wolves, squirrels, bears, birds and rabbits. The website for the organization is: www.nwf.org

AND it's for a good cause, yay! Just like www.theanimalrescuesite.com -- they have some cute, cute stuff on there and part of the proceeds goes to animal welfare.
