Yup, Tommy Tutone! OMG! I used to LOVE that song! I can’t believe that I didn’t recognize it. We’d torture a particular Jenny in my class, we had eight, by singing it whenever we saw her. That was 23 years ago and I was a freshman in HS. Man, I am about to be friggin decrepit.

The number was picked because it flowed. However, it belonged to a real guy and he had to change his number. I forgot where he lived but there was a program about songs like that on VH1.

I'm willing to bet that both of those phone numbers probably belong to someone here in Central Florida. The '777' exchange may belong to someone living beachside (a little south from Cocoa Beach) and the '867' exchange is used at Kennedy Space Center.

777-9311 was sung by Morris Day and the Time while a catchy ditty with numbers in it ROFL it sounds absolutely nothing like 867-5309. There's another song with a phone number in it too that is escaping me but they all had to change their numbers cause folks were dialing them in cities all over the country.

I was a youngin when 777-9311 came out. I actually dialed it.
