Whoa, that must've taken you some time! :) Great job!
|
I've seen these on a couple of websites....All of them miss the lovely GAMMA TAU chapter (Bowling Green), though!
The chapter was originally charter in 1950. It closed from May '99 to January '00, and was reinstalled in (I think) November of 2001. |

Hey! Sorry to crash on your board, but I did an Ashland search and saw that one of your college's that is inactive is Ashland. Which Ashland is that? IS that Ashland, OH or Ashland, KY? I'm just wondering b/c my mom joined a sorority when she went to Ashland - but she honestly doesn't remember anything about it except ritual stuff, which she won't repeat. Anyway, both my mom and my aunt joined the only two sororities at Ashland. I was just wondering, b/c my mom has no clue what she was in. Which is really kinda sad, but lol that's my mom.:)

Hi Daisy!
Thanks for stopping the DZ Forum! It took me so long to input the names of the chapters; I'm glad people are reading them! The Theta Psi chapter is at Ashland College in Ohio. Is that where your mom went? Best, Tracy :) |
According to their website, Theta Psi is definitely active at Ashland University.
In addition, Gamma Zeta (Southwestern University) went inactive around 1990. Kappa Zeta (North Texas State) is also inactive, but I don't remember when that happened. Quite a bit of work you put into this list - thank you, Killarney Rose. |
Quick question from a non DZ-
Why do ya'll not have any Eta chapters? |
chapter list
I know the chapter ar Louisiana Tech went inactive sometime in the late 80's/early 90's.
Thanks for inputting the list! Stacey GEAUX TIGERS!!!! |
Thanks for the corrections, dzslund10 and
dvs-dz! And my apologies to the sisters at Ashland College, whose chapter is alive and well (and has a very nice website!). AUDeltaGam, we had an Eta Chapter (Baker Univ. (KS) ), which is now inactive. I don't know why there were no subsequent chapters founded that start with Eta. I just noticed that the same goes for Mu and Nu. Any sisters out there know why this is? Now my curiousity is up! |
Forgot this one.....
Pi Gamma - California State University/Northridge |
There was also a chapter at Jacksonville University in Florida that has gone inactive...I think it was one of the Beta chapters...

OK, proceed with the thread. |

I was told that the reason we don't have Eta and Mu chapters is b/c of the potential of negative nicknames, etc. Can't you just hear the stupid 18 year old boys now? "Yeah, I ETA DZ, too" harharfreakinghar. |

Unfortunately, the Omicron Tau Chapter at Brock University in St. Catherine's, Ontario, Canada is not active. I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I believe that they have not been active since the mid-late 90s.
U of Windsor DeeZee |
Iota Nu at Ga Southern is not active, unfortunately. I called my cousin Jenilyn to get a rec for my daughter in 2000 and she told me. It was one of Ga Southern's original sororities, I believe.
|
Many thanks to dznancy and Carnation for the corrections!
|
As much as this kills me to tell you but my beloved chaper, Lambda Iota, is inactive. It was closed down in the mid '90's, after I had graduated.
At least the pink and green will be forever in my heart!! |

Welcome to GreekChat; we are glad to have you here! |
Thanks for the warm welcome!! It's great to be among sisters again!! Each time I encounter a DZ, I'm reminded how wonderful our sisterhood is and how proud I am to be a part of it!!
PROUD TO BE A DELTA ZEE!!! |
I always knew we lost alot of chapters in the 70's, but seeing it in print like that-wow! That was a brutal decade! I know all Greeks were hit hard, but we went from losing about 12 chapter during all of the 60's to about 39 (give or take) during the 70'S. Whoa. I know we opened alot of new ones in the 80s, but that's just sad to look at. I hope we can make some inroads in the coming years to get back some of those chapters (especially the single letter & Texas ones!).
|
I know what you mean, Andi. We are a pretty major sorority in terms of numbers and being well-known, and I'd really like to see us at more big schools.
|
BETA TAU
The Beta Tau chapter of Delta Zeta is located in Lincoln, NE at Nebraska Wesleyan University. We were founded on September 6, 1941.
Thanks, Amy Stickney Beta Tau of Delta Zeta Risk Management Chair Initiated October 2002 |
Epsilon Alpha (1925) - Western State (CO),
has been inactive since 1998 or 1999 and Pi Gamma will be installed this year. :D |

"Yeah, I ETA DZ, too" harharfreakinghar. Okay I totally understand that but then I would like to make the comment that I am in the Epsilon Zeta Chapter at Drexel University and it doesn't sound bad at all to be called an EZ DZ! Yup, we're the infamous ones!    |
Hi everyone! I finally got around to making the corrections on this list that I'd been meaning to make for months. As always, many thanks to sisters and friends alike for their input and help in keeping this list as up-to-date as possible!
Tracy |
anyone from the Theta Omega chapter come on here? My cousin was a DZ at Barton and that is her chapter.
my other cousin was a DZ in Arkansas but I don't know what school or chapter. |
Hey DZs, sorry to crash your board. This is such a great idea! I didn't know there was a DZ chapter at Adelphi. We found some old Panhel scrapbooks from the 1920s when we were moving our suites and I counted 12 chapters on campus, but I couldn't remember all of them. Unfortunately only 3 of the 12 are still open today.
|
As far as I know , your Mount Union chapter is closed. A campus ministry director here @ Kent is an alumnus of that chapter and told me.
|
Mt Union
Jocelyn is right, there are 4 chapters there and they all start with Alpha. :)
|
I was doing some research on the NPC groups on campus at the University of Arizona (in Tucson) and found the Beta Iota chapter of Delta Zeta was on campus from 1930 - 1935 and again 1966 - 1978.
The information came from the latest version of Bairds. Hope this helps. |
Does anyone happen to know when your Omega chapter at the University of Oregon closed? Thanks.

Here's some new info for a correction:
Gamma Pi - Western Michigan U (we had 1950 listed for Gamma Pi....now I don't know if that applies to WMU or NIU) Gamma Rho - Northern Illinois U |
Here's another correction:
Theta Nu (1963) - Minnesota State - Moorhead (Not Glenville). Man, those Surfing Sisters are picky! |
Good news! Delta Omicron is active again!
|
Thanks everyone for your corrections! I've finally gotten around to making the changes in the initial post, so everything is now up to date according to the information I have :)
|
I was just wondering if there was ever a chapter at the University of Arkansas? I have heard both yes and no from different people. If yes, what happened? By the way, can everyone please pray for the Lambda Alpha chapter at Arkansas Tech? They have been having some difficulties lately. Thank you so much!!!
DZ love and all mine |

I'm sorry that things are rocky for Lambda Alpha lately :( Could you talk with your CCD/RCD or maybe get in contact with a local alumnae chapter? Sometimes bringing in outside help can give an ailing chapter the shot in the arm it needs. Best of luck, sweetie! |
Sorry for crashing your board ladies, but I did a little bit of research on the Kappa Omicron chapter at Elon. A local sorority, Beta Omicron Beta, was absorbed by Delta Zeta. At the time, BOB was the only local at Elon, and other locals were absorbed by Tri Sigma, ZTA, and Phi Mu in 1970-71. I'm not sure why colonization didn't kick off with Delta Zeta, but they are in the 1973 yearbook. They were significanly smaller then the other groups at the time, so it could be due to a lack of members.
Call me a dork, but I love learning about other chapters that existed at my school. :) |
