Skin Care Routine
Since it's winter time, do you change or vary your skin care routine i.e. change your regular cleanser to a gentler cleanser?
For me: I don't change my cleanser (I have oily skin) but I do change my moisturizer and astringent. I still try to exfoliate my face two times a week. |
....
I used to always change my skin care! I went from a harsher to a more mild cleanser, less toner, etc. But right now I'm using ProActiv. I will however, change my fondation to a lil' bit heavier texture with some moisture to it. And I am obsessed with exfoilation!!!! Philosophy The Greatest Love......ahhh...

I got a question:
I'm thinking about starting to use some skin care products. A couple of my friends ( who are guys) are currently using Oil of Ole (sp?) every once in awhile. I want to know if any of you have any ideas as to what guys should use. I assume we're not supposed to use the same stuff chicks use, thats why i'm asking some of you for sugestions. |

Cetaphil makes good cleanser and lotion for dry/oily skin types. Neutrogena, I think now includes a male version of their skin care. But Clinque is good too!

I'm sooo low maintenance when it comes to skin. God chose to bless me in the skin department. Trust me I'm forever thankful! During the winter I use my regular creme cleanser with my prescription rosacea lotion and top it w/ a thin coat of moisturizer for normal skin. I don't dare touch it w/ astringent. I'd get so dry. I barely use it in the summer. I don't wear foundation, so I can get away w/ washing my face just once a day. I also use gentle eye makeup remover around my eyes and lips, if I happen to wear any makeup. I use a thick coat of Carmex on my lips and then some creme lotion on my hands and feet before I go to sleep. Needless to say I have dry skin :)

I don't change mine!
Mornings are Clinique Exfoliating Scrub in the shower, followed by a wash with Mild Soap, Clarifying Lotion 2, and DDMC. Nights I usually just use water and a little soap to get off my makeup. About two times a week I'll use a peel-off face mask to clear up any goop, right now I'm using St. Ives, which smells like apples! |
I use Lancome. I have dry skin, so moisturizer is my friend year round. I switch in the winter, though, to using the thicker moisturizer at night, instead of the light moisturizer. Once our few weeks of winter passes, I'll switch back :)

I use Mary Kay and I don't have to change my skincare from summer to winter (and my skin fluctuates from Normal/Oily in teh summer to Normal/Dry in the winter). I use the Timewise cleansing bar and Timewise Moisturizer with SPF 15 morning and night. once we hit the dead of winter (in a few weeks for about 3 months) I'll probably have to use the new Intense Moisturizing Cream on my cheeks. I also use the Extra Emollient Night Cream on my nose when I have a cold (takes care of that dry skin like nothing else - good for the feet too! LOL)

I change mine (for at least one face-wash a day) to Loreal HydraFresh Foaming Cream Cleanser from the J & J Head-To-Toe baby wash I usually use.
cash, I agree with everyone else who recommended Clinique. See if one of the females you know has a sample of Dramatically Different. It's just a basic light moisturizer - I'm guessing the guy stuff is similar. Also nothing Clinique has any fragrance, but it also doesn't have that kinda gross "unscented" smell. |
Okay, here's my routine:
Mornings: Wash with Aquanil cleanser. Moisturize with Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer (nude) with SPF 18. In the summer I skip the moisturizer and just use BioMedic sunscreen with zinc oxide, SPF 18 Under my eyes I use Kiehl's Avocado Undereye Cream Evenings: Wash with Aquanil cleanser. Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Balm under the eyes, and covered with the thicker Kiehl's balm. Can't think of the name. Retin-A Micro .01% all over my face Smith's Rosebud Salve on lips Once a month I go to my aesthetician for (alternate) microdermabrasion or a glycolic peel Yes, I know I'm high maintenance! lol :) |

For the past 3 months I've been using the Bath and Body Works new Pure Simplicity line (which I adore btw!). This is my first year of winter in the southern climate so I don't know if I'll change my routine for the winter. Normally I have to start using a heavier moisturizer and a moisturizing foundation. My skin hasn't started getting dry yet though and I don't want to over do it and have oily skin. Has anyone else moved from the north to the south? How did it affect your skin in the winter?

hehehhehe....hey Dec, are the Lynx adverts still running in the UK? Some of those were kinda funny and oozed testosterone. Any man using those products would definitely not be questioned about whether or not he is "metrosexual"! heh. ;) .....Kelly :) |
I forgot about using sunscreen, the sun in the winter seem so bright. I know this does not qualify as a skin care routine but I've just started using my humidifer(sp) because in my apartment the air is so dry even my hair seems to lose moisture.

Men's Skin Care
Does anyone know anything about Men's skin care products or any men(boys) out there that use skin care products religiously?
About a month ago I walked into the bathroom to see my bf about to put B&BW body lotion on his face when I flipped out, told him it was BAD lotion for his face, would clog his pores and be really bad. I handed him my face lotion, fast forward to this morning when I've come to the conclusion that he's using my $40 for 1.7 oz Prescriptives face lotion all the time now. I have no problem with him using my lotion, except that its expensive and I'm poor, and its all that will work for me so I don't want it used up Mid-January (I swear I don't have sharing issues :) ). Also I have heard that Men's skin needs are different to women based on their shaving, thicker skin etc. I would like to get him some Men's line, I was looking at Kiehl's but am open to suggestions. Thanks for the help! |
cleanser/exfoliate: I switch between Mary Kay Velocity Face Scrub and Origins Crystal Clear
Toner: O Hui Grape Extract Toner (Korean stuff) Tonic: Origins Comforting Solution Sensitive Skin Soother Moisturizer: I swith between O Hui Grape Extract Moisturizer and Mary Kay Velocity Moisturizer. I also started using Creme de la Mar. It's so expensive I only use it once a week. Eye Cream: O Hui Eye Essence When I wash my face, I use one of those face brushes. It helps exfoliate. Also, once a week I give myself a cucumber massage. I cut the cucumber into very thin slices and lay them on my face for about 10-15 minutes. Then, I take them off and put them on my hands. After that, I wash my face with only water and go to sleep. It really is great! As for guys using stuff for their face, DO IT! My dad uses stuff from the Body Shop. They have a whole line of cleansers, aftershaves, and moisturizers. And they smell awesome! Here's the link: The Body Shop |
