What happened on Friends tonight??

WCUgirl 11-21-2003 12:50 AM

Monica got conned into cooking Thanksgiving dinner again (she didn't want to), but Phoebe said it would be like she was competing against herself from last year to make a better Thanksgiving dinner. This of course thrills Monica to death.

Phoebe then convinces Rachel to dress Emma up in this cowgirl outfit to win $1000 in a baby beauty pageant.

Ross and Joey invite Chandler to the Rangers game, but he says they shouldn't go since the game is at 1 and dinner is at 4 and there's no way they'd be back in time for dinner (which, of course, we all know Monica will be pissed if they're late).

Emma wins the beauty pageant, and Joey and Ross go to the game anyways. Chandler gets to make the cranberry sauce.

Ross, Joey, Phoebe and Rachel are all an hour late for dinner and there's this big stand-off b/w the four of them in the hallway and Monica and Chandler (and her "vein" as Joey lovingly refers to as a third person) in her apartment. They end up having to break the door open 'cause Joey gets his head stuck in the door and he flies over and lands on Monica's food (which she didn't want to cook in the first place, remember?) and ruins dinner.

Monica had answered a phone call so she missed all this. She came out of the bedroom and Chandler says "Joey did it!" And she says, "I don't care." Chandler asks what's wrong (why she wouldn't be upset about a mess) and she says that the phone call was the adoption agency - they're going to get a baby from a pregnant girl in Ohio!

Yay!! I knew I should have recorded the episode! Thanks :)

WCUgirl 11-21-2003 01:21 AM

I actually was at a Pampered Chef party, but I have DVR so I was able to fast-forward through all the commercials!!! It was a really good episode. Too bad there won't be a new episode next week!!! :(

xok85xo 02-05-2004 09:52 PM

can anyone explain to me why chandler has a flock of seagulls haircut in 1987?

GeoffZ 02-06-2004 01:36 AM

Yeah, who would have a FOS haircut that late in the 80's? Monica dancing in the fat suit and Danny Devito stripping were hilarious.

ZTAngel 02-06-2004 10:35 AM

I was slightly weirded out by Friends last night. I couldn't help but cringe when it came out that Ross and Monica had accidently made out. YUCK!

Because it's funny.

That was the point - he and Ross were dorks. You didn't see any of the other "college" people with such riduculous hair. :D

I completely agree. I really didn't feel like that added to the humor or the show. It was just disgusting.

But I do think Monica is a funny dancer in the fat suit.

Does anyone else feel like Friends is coasting now, just writing filler scripts until its over. I've been a fan for the full 10 years, so I obviously can't stop now, but it just doesn't feel like they are giving it the same effort anymore.

That, and Ross' Member's Only jacket. When were those two things popular? ca. 1984? GEEZ, people, we are showing our age. I'm pretty sure that 1987 was acid wash and mullets. Or maybe that was only in Turlock/Modesto?

The Ross/Monica and Chandler/Rachel storyline was gross and should have been kept out.

GeekyPenguin 02-06-2004 02:59 PM

I thought that storyline was hilarious. I loved it when Chandler yelled "What did I marry into?"

WCUgirl 02-06-2004 03:04 PM

I agree! I thought the show was hilarious, although it was a bit predictable.

It's so funny how they had a flashback to the 80's last night - my coworkers and I were discussing 80's fashion yesterday at work!

I LMBO everytime Chandler would yell that out. Poor guy.

GeekyPenguin 02-26-2004 09:50 PM

I am going to be so unhappy if Ross and Rachel don't get back together. :(

ZTAngel 02-26-2004 10:26 PM

Can someone fill me in on what happened? I missed the show. :(

Jadey28 02-26-2004 10:40 PM

Is it me, or does Friends seem very similar to the last season of Sex and the City? I know it's purely coincidence, but it's weird.

mullet81 02-26-2004 11:27 PM

Ross finally got tenure at his job, and Rachel got fired from RL because she was interviewing with Gucci at a restaurant where her boss was also eating lunch. They ran into Mark (from Bloomingdale's) while Ross was helping Rachel move out of the office, and Mark took her out to dinner - Ross got all jealous, but then Rachel announced that he was married, but had offered her a job with Louis Vuitton - in PARIS.

Monica and Chandler took Joey to look at their house, and he met a little girl who talked him into being okay with them moving.

Phoebe changed her name to Princess Consuela Bananasack or something like that, so Mike said he was changing his to Crap Bag, and then she changed her mind.

Actually, it was Princess Consuela Banana Hammock. :)

Mike agreed not to be Crap Bag, and said, "I'll be Mike Hannigan, if you'll be Phoebe Buffay." And Phoebe says she wants to be "Phoebe Buffay Hannigan...Banana Hammock!"

Mike asks her if she even knows what a banana hammock is and she says no, she just thought it sounded creative. He tells her it's a speedo and she definitely doesn't want the name. So I guess she's goign to be Phoebe Buffay-Hannigan. But she was Princess Consuela Banana Hammock for a day!

Thank you!!!!

I really hope Ross and Rachel end up together by the series finale.

Me too. But mostly everyone I know thinks that storyline is so played out. I disagree. Rachel is Ross' lobster, after all ;)

I did not know that is what Banana Hammock meant. Where I heard that I almost fell out of chair laughing.

Yes, it is!

Oh, and I didn't know what a banana hammock was either!
:o

I can't believe it's almost over!

GeoffZ 04-23-2004 04:45 PM

It's crazy that it's actually ending. I'm glad we got a chance to see Janice one last time. Oh. My. God. By the way, what the hell was Rachel wearing in that last scene? Was that a seatbelt attached to her sweater?

Hahahahaha...that was a really bad sweater!

HBADPi 04-24-2004 01:58 AM

haha I was just about to post something about the sweater! what was she thinking?!? I couldnt figure out if the turtlenecky part was attachted to the rest of the sweater with the belt or whatever that was. I spent that whole scene just looking at the shirt and just listening to the conversation...couldnt take my eyes of it!

Definitely not a Friends fashion statement that is going to catch on (I hope).

DeeGeePrincess 04-24-2004 04:13 AM

Was it just me or was Thursday episode not as funny like it has been in the past. I love friends and all but it was just ok!

Ross is so hot!!! damnit!!! Always fun to watch.,

WCUgirl 04-24-2004 08:32 AM

I thought it was pretty funny.

I think they're trying to kind of wind up the show by touching on some serious subjects, and in doing that it's kind of hard to be really funny. I mean, with Rachel leaving now, of course you're going to be sad...so when Ross makes a stupid statement for comic relief sure, it's going to be funny, but you're still a little upset about Rachel leaving so you won't be laughing quite as hard.

That's how I see it.

smiley21 04-24-2004 09:36 AM

the end of the season is way too hyped. the last episode better not be a dissappointment

angelic1 04-30-2004 12:37 PM

What happened last night? I didnt get home in time..

I thought last nights episode was kind of slow.

The gang threw Rachel a going away party adn rachel decided she was going to say goodbye to everyone individually. Only she didn't say goodbye to Ross.
Ross gets really mad with her and storms into her apartment chewing her out for not saying goodbye to him. Later Rachel goes over to his appartment and tells him the reason she didn't say goodbye to him was not because she didn't care, but because it was too hard because out of all of them she was going to miss him the most.

Erica (the mother of Monica and Chandlers baby) went into labour and they have rushed over to the hospital.

That's the episode in a nutshell.

WCUgirl 04-30-2004 01:41 PM

I agree, the episode was kind of slow.

So...any predictions on what's going to happen next week? We obviously have seen in the previews that Rachel leaves Ross in the airport...but we don't know whether she comes back or not. I'm quite surprised Ross isn't putting up more of a fight about Rachel taking Emma....as in why hasn't he discussed moving to Paris with Rachel?

shadokat 04-30-2004 01:53 PM

Good nutshell, except you forgot the part at the end where Rachel and Ross started kissing. That's how it ended.

I'm sorry, but the funniest part of the show was when Ross and Chandler were hitting Joey with the bubble wrap around his head!

No, it was right at the end during the credits when Phoebe stuffed the styrofoam popcorn down his pants and kicked him "where the sun don't shine" :D

maggieaxid 04-30-2004 04:24 PM

I am such a sap! last night's show made me all teary-- esp. cuz i am moving in two weeks and have to say good bye to my friends.

i think the funniest part was the whole bubble wrap and packing peanuts stuff with joey! I also thought the thing about the handcuffs was kind of funny.

The best part was the kiss at the end.

Ross & Rachel HAVE to get together! This isn't reality TV, let me live in my "happily ever after" TV world!
