Question for State Sides People (which is most of you guys)
What is getting more coverage, Michael Jackson's arrest or GWB visit?
Down here, MJ is getting more coverage, follow by the miserable performance of the Springbok in the Rugby World Cup. They're still talking about it and they want heads to roll. |
Most of the newscasts I saw or heard yesterday lead with Michael Jackson.
I won't comment further. |
Jackson is everywhere today.
|
Bush is where? Just kidding. :D
Michael Jackson, definitely, but I couldn't care less. |
MJ-----it's very ashame that more emphasis is put on that creep than news that REALLY matters like Iraq, the bombing in Istanbul, Bush's visit to Britain, the White House evacuation.........or other goings on in the world of more importance......*shakes head*

Jackson

Jackson is more important. Whenever someone tries to rob a black man of his money and rep, we should pay attention to it.

When Bush is speaking, he is. Otherwise, Michael Jackson is. I understand that the Bush administration is quite upset over this, and is planning to combat this discrepency by planning a White House slumber party with the Prez and several pre-adolescent boys.

hahahaha! |
Jackson is getting more airplay...which is kinda sad considering how important Bush's visit is.
|
Michael Jackson.
I seriously didn't know where Bush was. :o |
Jackson.
Did anyone see CNN's tag? They were calling it "Moonwalk to Perpwalk." hahhahahahahhahhahahhaha those damn tags keep getting more outta control. |
NBC led with Turkey bombings today. At least a little sanity prevailed in that newsroom.
But, let me play Devil's Advocate here. Forgetting the Tukish Terror attacks, what you have is the choice between potential criminal behavior by one of the world's richest and most famous people, and a state visit that has been turned mainly into a propaganda tour. I personally don't think the Jackson thing should be this big, but can see how the decisions were made. So, I guess I have to temper my original comment in my post above. |
It is kind of sick. Like the fact he's a perv is news. News being things we didn't know before. I vote for covering Turkey because traditionally Turkey has been "western-friendly" and certainly not the site of terrorist attacks. Plus the folks doing it are likely not Turkish. That's worth covering, if for no other reason than informing us of security issues and developments in the war on terror.
The Bush visit is propoganda and I couldn't care less. Anything else going on in the world? I'm serious. Our news orgs are really sucking lately. |
Well for a view from outside (that gets the US sources too)....
The stories in Canada in order of time and place in news: Prime Minister stepping aside early Conrad Black getting the boot from his media empire Turkish Bombings Iraq Bush visit to UK MJ's legal problems Online drug sales Arar case (looks like Canadian security set him up  ) Air India hearing and finally the outdoor NHL game on the 22nd.;) All this from watching and reading every news source I could get my hands on this week (media anaylsis paper due Monday on media's political or economic bias). |
I dont care about Jacko being a perv...about what Scott did with Laci...or how many semen sample's are in Kobe's accusers draws!!! I watch the news for news.... If I wanted to see BS I'd turn to BET.
|
This crap is why I really don't watch much of anything but Headline News if I want something more than infotainment.
TV is getting pretty useless for news. Locally, they're leading with crap like Daycare vans running orange lights:rolleyes: |
Jackson was the lead story where I live.
