Thanksgiving Plans
What are everyone's thanksgiving plans?
My family is not super big on holidays, so we generally chow down early then catch a movie or go bowling. Normally there are some pretty good movies that come out over the long weekend. My brother and I want to see the Missing (new Ron Howard movie), so maybe we can talk the rents into that one. My mom might pass on the bowling this year - broke her nail last year and never let us hear the end of it. |
We're going over to Mr. Ginger's parents house for an early lunch, and then taking them to the airport so that they can go to a cousin's wedding. After that we'll probably just spend an 'us' day together.

my family is INSANE!!! we all go over to my grandpa and grandma's house on thanksgiving around 1 in the afternoon. typically we have hors dourves, drinks, enjoy each other's company, the ladies cook and get the table looking fabulous, while the "men" and i say that lightly b/c it includes my 13 year old cousin ;) either watch football or play football out in the yard.
we usually each our BIG meal around 4pm until everyone is stuffed! then the 16-24 year olds get to clean up, while my little cousins like to perform skits for the aunts, uncles and grandparents :) then we break out the cards! my family loves playing cards - we usually get a few games of poker, euchre, or something going. we eat desert, some people have seconds on dinner or turkey sandwiches - and we drink :) generally, i don't leave family parties before 11pm or 12am! |
Celebrate it a month ago :p
I hope everybody 'down south' has a safe and good thanksgiving. |
Working.

At my dad's request, we are once again having dinner at my house.............which will include: my dad, my mother, my sister, myself, and as of last night my cousin, plus two dogs and two cats.
My parents have been bitterly divorced for 11 years.........it was weird when we did it last year( at my sister's request and my cousin excluded) and it'll be even more weird this year............I'm not looking forward. |
Spending it with my parents. My HS reunion is that Friday, so it works out well. And I got out of cooking ;)
|
We're having Thanksgiving at my house, like always. Watch the parade in the morning, shower, I'll probably go pick up Grandpa at oneish, he'll come over, we'll watch football, eat around 4, eat some dessert, play cards, eat some more dessert.
I'm so gross at Thanksgiving - all I'll eat is stuffing and green bean casserole! |
Let see if I don't have to work I am suppose to go out to Grandma's house like every year it seems. BUT also I will probably go with Mike to his familys and then he will go with me out to Grandma's....This will be interesting lol.

I love thanksgiving!
My family (the 6 of us) always go over to my aunt's house for the entire day. My two cousins and their families are there...and then my aunt's husband and his three brothers, and their families come over. So basically there is about 30 of us in the house. It's always a riot. The best is that us kids do stupid bets. Like the last time we were all together my cousins bet my brother that he couldn't drink 4 cups of gravey in 10 minutes. So he did and we all video taped it and the adults all watched it later and laughed their butts off. Then this summer (another example), my cousins dared my same brother to do the Milk challenge (drink a gallon in a hour). He got thru 50 minutes of gut-wrenching milk and got sick. That was unfortunate b/c there was $120 on the line ;) So basically the holiday get-togethers are nothing but crazy fun in my family! Any ideas for a challege this year :D |
Am going to Tennessee on Tuesday and hanging out with RT. On Thursday AM were driving down to Augusta to meet the parents. Coming back Friday afternoon and will probably hang out at RT's for the weekend. Have some us time, which will be cool becasue we havent seen each other since the first part of October.

Flying to Mr Munchkin's on Tuesday afternoon, eating good good food (both of his parents are in the culinary world), getting lots of play, and working on my "Understanding and Documenting Historic Architecture" final presentation due that Monday.
|
I think we're going to drive to the Chi. We probably won't be able to make it for Christmas so it makes sense to go now, plus I can feast on the vegetarian stuffing my mom makes for me. After that, we can get our party on when Frankie Knuckles rocks the HOB.
|
my mom and i are going to fort walton beach to visit my aunt and cousins for a few days. then when we come back home, my grandparents are supposed to be visiting.
|
My fellow study-abroad people and I are all getting together with some Germans to educate them about the wonders of T-day. We're all making something different -- I'm making pumpkin pie!

Well, at my house TKE209 and I will be eating an early T-Day celebration. That afternoon we will be traveling to Athens to his parents and eat once again! Oh..I see myself gaining about 10 lbs that day!
|
I am eating with my family early in the day. I will spend the evening at a restaurant with my bf. For some reason, he decided to cook a turkey and make stuffing last night so I will probably be sick of it by Thanksgiving.

Our plans? Me, my mom, my dad. My mom's brother is flying in from Cleveland. Alone. We're not speaking to my only living relatives on my Dad's side of the family, my grandma and uncle, so it will be a party of 4 on Thursday. Happy frickin holidays. |
My husband, 2 boys, and myself are going to my dad's house. At my dad's it will be my dad, stepmom, stepbrother, his wife and 3 kids, step mom's sister and her son.
It is always a very boring day there--- we eat at 230, and will be gone by 6. After we leave my dad's we will go to a movie, probably see Cat in the Hat as the kids are dying to see it. -wendi |

i'll drive to new mexico wednesday morning. had a church meeting tuesday that i couldn't reschedule. my mother has already called three times with the menus. needless to say we'll eat beautifully. the humor being, she'll fuss for three days that i need to drop weight, but then will say "you gotta eat and take some home." this year, though, my mom, dad and i. my sister and brother in law will join us on a cruise at christmas.
|
i am going to my mom and dad's house for a very small thanksgiving. it will just be my mom, my dad, my brother, my grandma, and my great aunt. AND ME!! most of my mom's family is out west in az and my dad was an olny child and does not have any family to have over except my grandma and great aunt.
then i am going over to my best friends house at 5 for their thanksgiving even though he is not even in the country. he is in iceland where he grew up visiting his grandma and gets back on the first. his mom invited me over to meet the rest of his family that is dying to meet me. his other grandparents that are over from iceland will be there and his aunt who i swear would kill to meet me will be there too. so basically i will know his mom and dad and sister and that will be it. should be an exciting afternoon!! hehe..i am excited though!! have a happy turtkey day!! |
Growing up, we always had a big family dinner on Thanksgiving. It was so close to several family birthdays that we would basically end up spending most of the week together celebrating one thing or another. I miss those days so much :(
Now, my family is tiny. Basically, there is just my parents, my sister and me. We have a little bit more family in-town, but they now have their own families (i.e. they have their own huge family, complete with grandchildren). I guess we're a family in flux in regard to the holidays. |
I got a last minute deal through Orbitz so I am going to visit my sister in Texas! I can't wait to see her. She is cooking Thanksgiving dinner for a bunch of friends who are staying in town instead of visiting family for the weekend. Should be a fun group and I'm sure, like every year, we will have a battle of the minds with a game of Trivial Pursuit!
|
Going to the in-laws this year. Basically I'm gonna eat until I can't move. :)
|
Tonight-me and my buddies from church are having a dinner, one of them is going to school to be a chef or culinary artist, he's gonna cook for us. A guy fixing dinner...that will be a first. :o
Tommorrow-My immediate family was going to go to my cousin's house, but somehow that fell through. So, we'll probably just have dinner at our house or go out somewhere. |
Staying in town with the rest of my family. Can't wait to eat tomorrow!!
Got an awesome deal though for Christmas break, going to Paris!!! $350 RT on Orbitz. I'm so excited to go... my friendds live out there, can't believe I'm going!! |
I live at home. :) but I like it. I will eat like a little fat piggy. Then I will go to work.

Well, I had a last minute change of Thanksgiving plans. My family was going to be coming down here, and meeting Mr. BetaRose's family for the first time, but they've changesd their mind and aren't coming. So it will be just me and his family having a quiet dinner together.
|
I'm going on what i like to call a tour of the east coast.
Tonight i go to the Cape for thanksgiving at my parents house. Friday morning we are going to NYC to see cousins and go shopping. Friday night we head to Jersey where we have a bat mitzvah to go to on Saturday. Then home on Sunday. it's going to be a busy weekend! |
Son got in from Norman last night. Great to see him. Tomorrow, daughter #1, husband and stepdaughter, plus daughter #2 and grand daughter will be over for dinner.
Mrs. DeltAlum's and my family are 1200 miles away, so it's great that our kids are still here in Denver. |
Well i think things may work out fot Thanksgiving afterall with my family here........despite me still having to work on business plans due as soon as i come back from break...............due to my recent revelations......i've decided to actively seek a date to my semi-formal banquet (where i was previously going to go alone) with this guy I know that works at the hospital. He's single now too as of two weeks ago and is super cute. :) he also seems quite mature, which would be a welcome change for once :) I hope to get to know him better :)

Thanksgiving family football game
The guys in my family have ALWAYS had a family football game. After dinner and a few hours of football to settle their food (we eat at 11:00am), they would head out into the pasture and play football in the chilly air and get chased by the occassional cow. It was the best...UNTIL my cousin married a "city" guy who kept stepping in cow patties and getting hurt. The whole tradition has been called off to spare his feelings.
Good grief. I am from a farm family. You have to at least be a little tough.... Silver |

See you at Gurnee tomorrow! I'll be the one with two women who look like me, a weird lady who's friends with my aunt, and her daughters, one of whom I like, one of whom can blow a goat. |
