Pinning circle songs
 

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has any good pinning circle songs because it seems like that at my chapter they have been looked past and forgotten and haven't really been passed down from class to class. Its gotten to the point that now the seniors don't even know any to teach the younger members. We don't have pinning circles that often but we just had one and noone knew what to sing-- it was horrible i felt bad for the girl-- that is special. So if you guys have anything special you do please share :)

We sing Pass It On as well. I thought that all SK chapters did that, but maybe there's chapter traditions everywhere.

And speakign of pinnings and such, we just had an engagement last night, so we got to do a candle passing! I'm so excited. I love anything that lets us do a candle passing, but pinnings are my favorite, just because I love to see what the guys will do!

I know there's another verse, that's why I said it starts.

We have a candle pass for pinnings also, we have never done anything else (guys). I'd love to hear what you do because I've heard stories of other sororities but not ours, maybe because we don't have a house.

Can I ask what a pinning is? We certainly don't have them!!!

We have candlepasses for pearlings, engagements and lavaliering. I got pearled and it was just beautiful. I got peraled because my boyfriend is an independant and since he couldn't lavaliere me, he pearled me. It means the equivalent though :-)

I love my boyfriend when he did it because he really loves my sisters and accepts what they mean to me and thinks the world of them, even though he's not into the greek thing.

I suppose I'm lucky.

A pinning is when a fraternity man gives his serious girlfirend his pin or badge, it's usually a sweetheart badge (which is a smaller version the fraternity badge) I have only seen one pinning and it was from Pike. This is a very big thing for a guy to pin a girl, it's like lavalierring but at a much more serious level.

That sounds sweet. Do many school's do it?

We don't pearl I had never heard of it until you brought it up. My fiance is a GDI and I would have loved to know about it, but i got my candle pass for my engagement. I think pinning falls more on the fraternity and whether they do it.

Also, my chapter does candle lightings for lavaliering, pinning/promise ring and engagement.

I was thrilled when I got my candle lighting after my boyfriend lavaliered me. When I blew out the candle about 25 girls rushed to hug me before I could even get my story out. I really surprised everyone.

We do not pearl either. It just is not tradition to do that here.

We sing "The Road" which I think is one of the most beautiful songs.

I was so excited when I got my candle lighting too. I thought I had done a good job keeping it a secret (my boyfriend even took me out of town for the weekend so I wouldn't blab it to everyone) but all my sisters had been expecting it for so long that nobody was surprised. :( It was still wonderful to do it though.

I have never heard of pearling. That is a good idea though.

I've never heard of the Road.

We do a candle pass for either lavilers, boyfriend lavilers, engagement, or being pregnant. We sing a song to "I can't help falling in love with you". Its really Sweet. If you want the lyrics, let me know :)

We sing "Pass it on" and "All Greeks say"....

I am trying to remember the words but am missing a line or two. As soon as I figure it out I will post it! :D

Ok so I really am trying to remember the words to The Road but cann't remember a few lines in the end.

And repeat untill the candle is blown out or twisted off (we had to use electric candles, talk about a funny sight to see).

If anyone can remember the rest of the words or if I wrote them down wrong (very possible, my mind is starting to go) could you please post the corrections!!! :D

we do candle passes for everything you can think of ... pearling, lavaliering, pinning, engagement, promise rings, .... if you want to tell your sisters something ... ANYTHING ... we will do a candle pass for you ;-)

Cara, you do pearlings too? I am glad. Not the outsider, haha.

Our field consultant from nationals is absolutely a lovely and wonderful lady and she has a steady boyfriend. We always hope that she'll get engaged this year and we can give her the candlepass she never had. We made her swear to do it at our school. I think that would be really really neat.

We do a candle pass i guess thats what everyone calls it-- here we call it a pinning circle. But we do them for lavaliering, engagements and if your pearled. The girl that our pinning cirlce was for was lavaliered by her SAE boyfriend! So exciting

Here at the lovely Kappa Kappa Kappa, we usually sing "Rock You Like A Hurricane" by The Scorpions, the lyrics are totally perfect for these types of occasions. My Sisters and I always perform this rendition after a lavaliering or pinning or pearling, but the last is not required. For instance, this weekend my best friend Melanie and I were at the basketball game and then her boyfriend John came up behind her and Pearled her. It was nice! :):):)

It's just not fair! I would like a candlelighting...but seeing as I'm engaged currently theres nothing left to get :(

My chapter has done about 5 last semester. All were lavaliers or promise rings. Sadly no engagements.

Haha, I didn't even know any organization would call themselves Kappa Kappa Kappa for the sake that it could be abbreviated "KKK". Learn something new everyday, I guess.

we do candle passings and sing "pass it on". we pass around the entire circle once for friendship/sisterhood, and then if the candle is blown out on the second round it's a promise ring, the third is an engagement, and the 4th is pregnancy. 5th is going to jail and 6th is becoming a nun. oh wait, just kidding.

My school doesn't do PINNING ... for us lavaliering is the big deal as the step before engagement.
