Favorite holiday edible/drinkable

What is your favorite winter holiday edible/drinkable?

Mine is boiled custard. Not yucky eggnog. Real boiled custard and maybe a cup of ambrosia with real, just whipped Dream Whip made with fresh cream.
Yum!

It's gotta be my older sister's homemade red velvet cake *yum* She always makes me a cake for myself :D No wonder why I gain so much wait during break!

AchtungBaby80 11-17-2003 11:21 PM

Cream candy! Oh, how I love it...

AOIIsilver 11-17-2003 11:23 PM

What is cream candy? Is it like Divinity?

You're the second person within a week to ask me this...my boyfriend didn't know what it was, either. I guess they don't have it in West Virginia where he's from. Anyway, cream candy is made from cream and sugar and it's cooked so that it gets to the consistency of taffy, and then you have to pull it like you would taffy and then it's cut into pieces about an inch and half long. It's best when it's been in the refrigerator (or, in our case, out on the back porch) and it's cold when you bite into it. Good cream candy will be sort of chewy when it's first made, then set into a kind of flaky consistency, and it melts in your mouth. Mmmmmmmmm... :)

Kentucky Holiday food

I had forgotten about Bourbon Balls. Oh, yum!

Cream candy sounds very much like Divinity. Yet, Divinity is not really "pulled;" it is whisked really strenuously in a bowl.

Cream candy sounds fabu. Carnation, I will ask my mother about the Boiled Custard recipe.

I tried the eggnog latte at Hastings. I LOVE Hastings drinks, but I detested the eggnog latte. Yuck!

:)

My name is Sarah and I am a Starbucks Peppermint Mocha addict. Thank you.

I've never had sweet potato pie before, I'll have to try it sometime, my co-worker had it today for lunch, and I love sweet potatos!

My mom makes this delicious salad during the holidays... it's lettuce, chopped up celery, mandarin oranges, toasted sugar coated almond slices, and this sweet dressing she makes... sooooo good.

I also love Christmas cookies and pecan pie with cool whip!

smiley21 11-18-2003 08:04 PM

the holiday drinks at starbucks are selling like crazy. one day, we ran out of gingerbread syrup and i thought the customers were going to lose it. i LOVE egg nog, but i do not understand eggnog latte. maybe it is because i hate the taste of coffee, but why would you want to put espresso in your eggnog.
we also have the eggnog frappacino which i think is disgusting.

my other fav. holiday drink is cinnamon apple cider:)

sweet potato pie is incredible!!!!!!

adpialumcsuc 11-18-2003 08:37 PM
