Turtlenecks

One good thing to look forward for winter is wearing turtle necks.

I like them a lot.

I like sweaters in general though. The shirt of the gods.

AOIIalum 11-13-2003 09:54 PM

Love love love 'em! Lands End here I come!

Sistermadly 11-13-2003 10:14 PM

Love 'em, but only if they're rib knit and fitted.

librasoul22 11-13-2003 10:16 PM

LOVE 'EM!

Kate, that turtleneck is awesome!

I LOVE to wear my turtlenecks with leather jackets. Man, now I want it to get cold down here, lol.

The Gap has the best turtlenecks ever, btw.

lovelyivy84 11-13-2003 10:21 PM

hate 'em

I go for v-necks.

Oh those are cool too.

Steeltrap 11-13-2003 10:23 PM

Leaning toward hate, although I have a few. I prefer mock turtlenecks.

absolutuscchick 11-13-2003 11:03 PM

I love turtlenecks....but today I got the CUTEST off-the shoulder sweater at Express...its SOOOO Cute!!!!

valkyrie 11-13-2003 11:26 PM

I don't really like turtlenecks because they always end up feeling kind of claustrophobic to me. They tend to be too warm, also, like cashmere.

OrigamiTulip 11-13-2003 11:51 PM

I love turtlenecks! However, I don't get much opportunity to wear them in Florida :( I swear I am moving somewhere where it gets cold. I want actual seasons!

Oh, yes. Oh, yes yes yes. Especially if they're made out of angora or something...the contrast is kind of cool.

Peaches-n-Cream 11-14-2003 12:25 AM

I like cashmere turtlenecks. :)

tinydancer 11-14-2003 12:31 AM

Don't really like all that around my neck. It makes me feel all bunchy.

Then again, I don't like socks for the same reason.:p

33girl 11-14-2003 12:45 AM

Love them to wear, only I don't like the stand-up kind, and I do not like mock necks at all.

On guys...unless you are skiing or thin, step away from the turtlenecks. Please, please, please.

I love the color, but I'm a sweater kind of girl.

If this were a v-neck, I'd be all over it.

MeLikey 11-14-2003 01:24 AM

I like them... keeps me warm, I get cold easily.

dzrose93 11-14-2003 01:25 AM

I LOVE my turtlenecks. :D I have a closet full of them. And I'm with librasoul about the leather jacket issue. :)

juniorgrrl 11-14-2003 02:22 AM

I hated them as a kid. I got a few to keep on the fashion train, and found they can be quite functional. I like the chunky ones - I don't like the t-shirt like ones that my teachers used to wear (y'know, the ones where they have a print for every different season)

No turtlenecks on boys for me. I agree with 33girl - for skiing only!

GeekyPenguin 11-14-2003 04:09 AM

I loooove turtlenecks and every other kind of sweater. Thank God for my employee discount! :p

lifesaver 11-14-2003 04:58 AM

What did I hea ron TV last week when they were talking about mock turtlenecks?

Gal was, "You know why they call these mock turtlenecks?"
Dude, "No."
Gal, "Becasue people mock you when they see you wearing one."

hahhaha

Regular turtlenecks are cool for guys if you have the jawline to pull it off, whcih I dont.

Lil' Hannah 11-14-2003 10:46 AM

Turtleneck sweaters = good
Cotton turtlenecks circa 1991 = bad

yes it is.. i have it in another color, but i love that color!

Ginger 11-14-2003 12:00 PM

Now that I think about it, I've worn a turtleneck every day this week.

I hated them up until a year or two ago, because they felt too constrictive. But if you find the right ones, there's enough space to be able to breathe :)

Are those the t-shirt material type turtlenecks? As outerwear they are horrible, but they are nice to layer under a sweater on a cold day, when it goes below 50 :)

Yea, the t-shirt material ones are what I'm talking about...

BLUTANG 11-14-2003 01:25 PM

Bad experiences as a child leave me HATING turtlnecks to this day. I like the way they look on hangars and other people (there are some really CUTE t-necks this season), but i can't stand to wear stuff around my neck.

adpialumcsuc 11-14-2003 01:52 PM

I love turtlenecks.
Gap does have the best ribbed cotton ones..Old Nay's are pretty good also. Last forever

mu_agd 11-14-2003 01:54 PM

i love those gap ones. i have a few of them. i wear them to work all the time.

Oh, I haven't forgotten. I still have mine, until a few years ago I would wear them when I went skiing. In colors such as teal, royal purple, and fuscia. Oh yes. Now I've discovered the wonderful world of synthetic first layers.

DeltAlum 11-14-2003 02:22 PM

You know, they can be functional, too. Like hiding temporary, ummmm, blemishes on your neck.

Interesting memories.
