Prayer Requests

Ok, so this is kind of different, but I think it's a good place to post anything that is of great concern to us. This sorority was founded on the "highest ideals of Christian womanhood" and I think that asking our sisters to pray for us would be a great way for us to further those ideals. Obviously, not all ADPis are Christians, which is why it is the IDEALS, not the doctrine!! :D SO, please post anything you need prayer for. Think of all the sisters you can have making petitions on your behalf!!!!

Love and Loyalty

I believe that the principles established by our founders in 1851 are enduring attributes, exemplifying the highest ideals of Christian womanhood.

I don't have a special request at this time, but I am a prayer warrior at my church, and a volunteer at Fresh Start Divorce Recovery Seminars (at which I hope to never meet any of y'all!!). So, I would be happy to pray for a sister in need. :)

I will give a praise report: Cheryl, the sister I've mentioned to whom I'm very close, emailed me to say that her house outside of San Diego was spared. Many of her friends & coworkers weren't as fortunate, but since I hadn't even been able to reach her in 2 weeks, I was SOOO glad to hear from her!!

Prayer Request

I'm so excited to see other Christian ADPi's! I am so strong in my faith, and it's awesome to see God's work in everyone around us! I do have a simple prayer request....I will soon be testifying in court (about a month or so) and am very nervous about it. I have been praying for peace, calmness, and the strength to do what I have to, but I would greatly appreciate all the help I can get from ya'll.

texas*princess 11-11-2003 03:01 AM

ADPiZXalum, what a lovely idea! I think it's great that no matter what our faith is we can still hope and pray for our fellow sisters :)

honeychile, I'm so happy to hear that a house was saved in the terrible fire! My prayers & thoughts will be with all of them that have been hurt by this terrible tragedy.

UNLADPi, you know your sisters will be right there with you to support you!!! :)

PM the date of your court appearance, and I'll be sure to keep it in mind & heart.

I have to testify as part of my job. One of the tricks I've learned is to put my hands flat on the table or stand in front of me. They'll keep cooler that way, and steady you. I don't know the exact why, but it works for me!

Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication make your requests known to God, and the PEACE of God which passeth all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus our Lord. Philippians 4:6-7

:D this is one I was given way back when I was in a equally trying situation. good luck, you'll do great.

These are the very reasons I'm an ADPi! I love you guys even though I don't "know you"! Keep on believing and praying...God brings us all together for reasons only He knows! Thank you so much for your support and prayers...I'm here for you all if you need anything too!

I really need y'alls prayers, badly.

Without going into a 3-generation drama of my family dynamics, let's just say that a "cousin" just unleashed some very serious accusations/hate on my mama. The "cousin" just lost her husband, and God bless my mama, she's telling me to forgive her, she's distraught. SHE HASN'T EVEN SPOKEN TO MY MAMA IN OVER TWENTY YEARS!!!! Her half-sister had flown out to be with her (my mama paid for her flight), and when she called to say she arrived safely, my mama asked to speak to the "cousin" to express her sympathy - and was attacked.

I am aching. This "family" branch has been nothing but drama since Day One.

Tomorrow (Saturday), I am to give a seminar on genealogy lineages for the DAR. Three State Officers have unexpectedly decided to attend. This must go well, as I would like to be able to eventually change my career to that of a certified genealogist in the future, and want to be able to handle this seminar well. I don't NEED the stress right now! I have worked hard to be qualified to give these seminars, and I need to be more Christian so I can get over the anger I have right now!

This is probably not making a lick of sense, but oh, how I'm hurting inside...

polarpi 01-10-2004 02:12 AM

Honey, I have both your family, your seminar, and you in my prayers for this evening.

I have a little bit of a praise....my niece gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday, so I'm a great-aunt (gosh that makes me feel old!) :)

WLFEO 01-10-2004 12:47 PM

I'll pray for all of you! It would be cool if we set a time where we all knew we were all praying for each other at once. But anyway, we can pray whenever we want and I'm going to right NOW!

honeychile 01-11-2004 12:12 AM

Praise Report: All went well with my seminar today! I really didn't get much sleep, but since I've been home, I've been contacted by each of the State Chairman, congratulating me on a job well done! *whew*

As for the family drama, only time will tell about that. To say that it was interesting to be speaking about lineage while a questionable family drama was being played out made it a little interesting...!!

I agree with WLFEO - maybe we could set some time aside to be mutually in prayer. I pray daily for this thread and all of whom it represents. I am just SO proud of y'all!! So often, as I read your posts on other threads, I just think of how wonderfully each GC ADPi represents herself and the rest of us!

Eugenia would be so happy! :)

polarpi 01-11-2004 01:07 AM

I also agree with the idea of a mutual prayer time....as a suggestion, it would probably work best sometime in the late afternoon for East Coasters or so.....rather than a late night or morning, with the varied time zones we cover (BTW, how many time zones DO we cover on this board with our sisters???)

All of my sisters are in my thoughts and prayers this evening :)

L&L,
Jennie

We're trying something out, and we'll see if it's working in about a month or so... but she wants me to go in for some tests, and what she thinks is wrong is REALLY scary. I was just reading up on it, and I'm scared out of my mind.

This has been the year from hell... I'm so tired of having to be strong......

Just lean on your sisters, and we're here to help you walk your way through this.

thank you so much! I'll definitely keep you all informed as I find things out...

ADPiAkron 02-03-2004 11:52 PM

I am thinking about you! I have a related story. We had a sister that was just the opposite...Candian living in America. She was stong and eventually made it through it. I know you will too!

WLFEO 02-04-2004 12:59 AM

FopreverDiamond, I'll be praying for you! I just hate money. It is such a source of suffering for so many people. AARRRGGGHHH!

And SororgirlADPi, I'll be praying for you, too! Having a job you like is worth so much more than money- it's your health (mental & physical). We spend so much time at work that we have to be in the right job or we need to get out!!!! Good luck- let us know how the job search goes.

WLFEO~

Isn't that the truth. I just keep praying that the right doors open for me and those that are supposed to say closed, stay that way. I also try to remind myself not to go through the window if a door is closed. (I think I have gone through a window or two in my lifetime when I shouldn't have.) Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers.

LL,

Thank you for remembering our Delta Tau chapter in your prayers. It is going to be a very hard time for our sisters there and for the families of our lost sisters.

In Our Greek Spirit....

Sisters, my mama is just now on her way back to the hospital. She'll be meeting her doctor there for x-rays & blood work. He changed her blood pressure meds, and since she's been home, her bp/pulse/breathing have been erratic. I know this is the best thing for her, to find out what's wrong, but my heart is heavy. Her name is Dixie Lee, if you're sweet enough to remember her in your prayers.

ADPiAkron 02-10-2004 02:08 PM

I will remember such a sweet name for such a sweet person (you and your mother.)

Thank you SO much!! I'm sitting here at work, wondering how in the world I'm expected to do anything but pray!

skerbow 02-10-2004 02:15 PM

Of course honey...please keep us updated when you can.

honeychile 02-10-2004 05:20 PM

My mother did have another heart attack. She's at the hospital, and Praise the Lord, my brother is with her. He's a fighter, and he'll be much better at getting her the help she needs right now, with the drugs & all.

Praise the Lord that my mama's a fighter, too!

Please forgive me if I sound distracted, but I am a wreck.

skerbow 02-10-2004 05:31 PM

I'm so sorry Honey. You are in my prayers.

ADPiSAI 02-10-2004 06:33 PM

Honey, I'll be praying for your mama... I really hope that she'll be ok. My dad is going to his deaconate class tonight, and I asked him to have them all pray for her too.

honeychile 02-10-2004 06:39 PM

Thank you, thank you, everyone! *tears* This is just so hard.

One weird thing is, I was watching the early news, and they were saying that women tend to have heart attacks differently than men - and the symptoms they gave are identical to my mama's:

Dizziness
Indigestion
Nausea
Difficulty breathing
"Heartburn"

No chest pains, no pain in the arm. Just think, if we had heard that two-three weeks ago!! PLEASE tell any of the women in your lives who tend towards high blood pressure or other high risk patterns!! If this saves one more person (and my mama!), I'll feel that certainty that "all things work together for good!!"

Thank you all for your prayers! My mama is going to have a heart catheterization around 2-3pm, and we're hoping that they don't find anything nasty. I'm really hoping that she just having complications from the med changes.

All these years in geratric counseling, and now I'm living it!

WLFEO 02-11-2004 02:25 PM

Please let us know how it goes, Honey! I'll be praying............

Just got home, and I'm going to be going to bed fairly soon. My mama will have a three-way bypass tomorrow at 6:30am. We are just keeping her (and her surgeon, Dr. Woefel) bathed in prayer. I'll post an update once I'm home tomorrow night. God bless each & every one of y'all for standing in the gap for her (and the rest of us!!)!!!

Yes, definitely group hug time! ;)
