FL GC Meetup?
 

This was brought up on another thread, but I figure we might try to start discussing it and figure out if we can make it happen.

So, would you want to come? When do you think would be best? What city do you think we shoud try to meet in?

In general, any ideas or suggestions?

I dunno if thats a good idea or not. Florida people like to rouse the party, we might get crazy. That would be one of the biggest threads, I can make sure of that.

I say we meet up in Orlando. That's not just because I'm biased. ;) I know there's a bunch of GCers who are in the Orlando area: sherbertlemons, adpiucf (well, actually, she's in Cali...nevermind), UCFPhiDelt, XOAlum, me, BetaRose, zetamarie, etc. Also, it's the middle of the state so it's pretty much equal driving distance for everyone. Think about it: if we had a meeting in Gainesville or Tallahassee, those poor South Florida GCers would be driving 7 hours. And likewise for the Gainesville/Tallahassee people if we had the meeting in Miami. So, Orlando is the best choice! Plus, there's a billion of places that we could meet up around here.
Cashmoney is right. The Florida meet up would be out of control. :D

When and where?

I like Orlando but dang, people got jobs and stuff, lol. If it is on a Sunday, that is probably about the only day I would be able to make it.

P.S. I know some cool out of state GCer's wanan come down to FL to chill too. Cream, roadtrip.

Hmmm...I'm thinking January. I know that from now through December it's probably really hectic for everyone. For all the GCers still in school, finals coming up. And, for those of us who work, I think all of us are working extra hard to get those numbers up before the end of the year. Plus, with all the holidays, a lot of us will be with our families. I think that January gives us enough time to plan this. It also gives out-of-state GCers time to plan in case they want to come to Florida for the get together.
So, here's my opinion:

When?: January

Orlando is fun, there's a lot to do there. On the other hand, if we were in Gainesville I could set something up so we could have a huge VIP party for ourselves, everyone would get in free and we'd have bottles upon bottles of whatever alcohol we wanted. It'd be on the roof top of 3 clubs. Its actually pretty pimp. And in January it's nice and cool out at night. The problem with Florida is that it's a big state. I know it's an hour and 1/2 away from Orlando, but I was thinking ( Gainesville) economically for those who wouldn't want to spend a bunch of money going out. There's been plenty of times where I've spent waayyyy too much money while being out in downtown Orlando. It doesn't matter to me where it is, I was just thinking of other people. That said, I was thinking maybe we should just have a Central/North Florida meet up and then a SoFL meet up. I'd go to both, but the entire state at one time....that'll be hard to get everyone to come. I'd think more people would show up if we had two different parties on two different dates.



On another note- Tampa would be fun. Maybe James would make it down for some of the best strip clubs in the state.


-I'd also like to have one of the meetings in G-ville so I could have Librasoul22 kicked out and make her ride back to Tallyho if she started running her mouth. lol. It'd be pretty phucked up if she got in line and they wouldn't let her in.....lol.

Number one, Gainesville is so beneath me. Number two, I don't know anything about waiting in lines.

Number three, I would much rather put a three inch heel in your azz than run my mouth. So if this GC get together happens, please bring an azz doughnut.

Anyone who would actually want to travel to Gainesville to go clubbing should be examined. Orlando sounds like a plan if we are going to do the nightlife.

With your attitude I'm sure you know all about standing in line, that and the fact that you don't set that a$$ out. And by the way, Tally isn't much better than Gainesville, it's still one of those dirty south college towns...full of hoes. Apparently you love being dirty south, you're still in Tally after you're done with college.

I was thinking G-ville for a central-north Florida meet up because its right in the middle of the area. Its easy access for all the people in Jax, Tally, G-ville and Orlando. Its pretty much the same distance for everyone to travel.

I dunno if smiley21 would come...but I'm sure it'd get rowdy if Rebelsong84 got up in the mix.

If you want good restaurants and a nightlife, Orlando is the best pick besides somewhere in South Florida or Tampa. I just think Orlando is more accessible to everyone. No offense but there's not as much to do in Gainesville as there is in Orlando. You can't argue with that. :) I think we'll have more of selection on restaurants and/or clubs with Orlando. Plus, I would still love to have a Florida GC meet up and Orlando is definitely the best location for that as it is the middle of the state.

As nice a place as Gainesville is, I have to agree with Librasoul on this one. :)

I had A LOT of fun when I've visited Gainesville. But, seriously, Gainesville isn't exactly known for their clubs. Purple Porpoise? The Grog? (or however it's spelled...don't remember since I was drunk) These aren't as classy or renowed as Roxy, Tabu, or Antigua in Orlando. But, I don't think clubbing is exactly the best option for the first meet up. I'm all for a nice lunch somewhere.

My vote is still for Orlando! ;)

Those are bars you went to....grog and porpoise are bars, not clubs. And I guess I'm a little biased since I have a lot of friends there, but it really is a lot of fun.



And I don't know how many club you've been to....but Roxy and Tabu are not exactly "classy" places in my opinion. Think about it, you've been there. They got girls with some busted a$$ faces that show up there. I've met way too many dirty hoes in both those clubs, a lot of German chicks too. Antigua is ok, there's some hot chicks there if you go on the right night. I like House of Blues on a Sunday night, that $hit is off the chain. Thee Grotto is ok, Blue room can be fun. Slingapores, I always meet DGs there. I have a lot of fun there. If you want to go to a rest- How about Emrils in city walk? If we do it on a friday or saturday night.....I'm sure the Hard Rock theatre will have some DJ or something going on there for those who want to party after dinner and don't feel like driving downtown after killing wine at dinner. That could be fun. My friend Justin works at Emril Lagasse's place and my friend Ivory bartends at Hard Rock live. If you guys like that, I can talk to them and see if they can hook it up for us.

Or...Latin Quarter in City Walk? It's a restaurant (a really good one with AWESOME drinks) and it turns into a latin club at around 10pm.

Please, no latin places. I'm thinking you said that just to antagonize me.:p We'll see enough latin stuff if we go to the SoFL GC meet up.

Orlando v. Gainesville? No contest!!!!

Having been in Gainesville since Aug. 1996, surviving 2 undergrad majors and wrapping up law school in December, I've seen all Gainesville has to offer. I am very familiar with Orlando as well, as one of the few true "natives." (Yep, actually born there).

I've spent my entire over-18 life (and way too much money) trying to destroy my liver in those two cities.

Anyone who would prefer Gainesville over Orlando for any reason or any time other than a Gator football weekend is on some serious non-prescription medication. The drinks aren't noticeably cheaper, certainly not enough to make any reasonable person prefer it over a more metropolitan city.

I would suggest the Wall St. bars (cheap drinks and food), Dexter's (awesome food), or the Lake Eola Wine Club (excellent wine, obviously, and killer desserts).

cashmoney - you were talking about a rooftop party - you must mean Sky, right? I've known Nari and Pete for years. Who do you know over there?

Ok, so North and Central Florida has agreed on Orlando. How about all the South Florida GCers. FAUNikki, ZTAMiami, Moonstar? How does O-Town sound?

i lived in orlando for two years and lived in gainesville for nine years. so gainesville is wearing a little thin on my nerves, although i do miss it. orlando is WAY better

Nari's a Fag, if I ever see his a$$ again I'm gonna kill him. He's never at SKKY when I go over there to find him. Apparently he's still in Med School in Tallahassee. I dunno though. He phucked Me, Mike G (Goldberg), George ( Jorge), Christian Chase and Justin Fawcett over for 9,000$ on a block party we were supposed to do back in 2001. And thats the reason why his sorry promoting a$$ couldn't make $hit in Gainesville anymore. We threw the ORIGINAL foam party in G-ville 5 yrs ago.....been doin it every year since. Thats also part of the reason why a certain frat got banned in 99 and again two years ago for the same type of party. In any case, I don't like him or his crew. And they don't like us. Its kinda funny how all his promoters are now working with our crew. Goldberg just moved out to Los Angeles and got a job working for Fox studios. We all went in and bought the lease for SIMONS, Loft, Plasma and the RoofTop 3 years ago. George bought everyone out eventually ( 1 year and 6 months ago). He now owns all of SIMONS, LOFT, PLASMA and the ROOF TOP. He's doing alright too. If you've been to any of the clubs within the past 2 years, you'd noticed that hip/hop has been being played there....you can thank us for that. On saturday nights in SIMONS, you can still hear some world class Electronic Dance Music. But the loft is bumpin with HIP/HOP. Plasma still kicks it with the Dirty House music. I dunno if you know Erik, but he's no longer the head bartendar there anymore....neither is Margarett.

SKKY is a has been club. The waterbar is ok, the only reason why its any good is because its VIP only.....or at least it was that way last time I checked. And as far as I know....Ian Thompson, Josh Wickham and Justin Fawcett were running that place. I think they had a party last week there.....everyone drank free liqour all night. I would never go to skky if it wasn't for somebody I know throwing a night there. The sound system is the $hittiest in all of G-ville, the bartenders shaft you on the liqour. They put cheap a$$ vodka in the Grey-Goose bottles and charge you Grey-Goose prices. I swear. You know Lydia? The bartender? She told me while all phucked up at a late night I had at my place one night.


I don't know the last time you were up on the Roof Top @ Loft/SIMONS.....but it has since been remodeld and there's a full bar up there with 3 bartenders. Thats the roof I was talking about. It can go right down into Loft or SIMONS, as well as Plasma. It caters to every type of music. There's also the special VIP place beneath the RoofTop and Loft, but right above SIMONS. Thats where we had Girls Gone Wilds come when we had them come to the club. That $hit was crazy. It has a bunch of black leather couches and tables....plenty of fans in case you get hot....but it only holds about 50 people. It was made so that peopel in the club couldn't see it and those in it can do whatever they want. Its pretty pimp.


And BTW- I like Pete, I don't have a problem with him. I just think Nari needs to keep his a$$ in Tallahassee.

See, I met Nari before he got involved with all the club stuff. So I think of him as a little dorky, definitely harmless. ;)

My law school friends like Plasma a lot, so I've been there a lot. You're right, the whole complex has definitely been cleaned up. Although I can't say that Girls Gone Wild parties impress me - just not my thing personally, sorry.

I honestly haven't been to Sky forever except when there's been a law school or med school party, or I was just bored and wanted Pete and Nari to hook me up with free drinks.

Eh, gonna have to opt out of this one. I live too far from Orlando to realistically make the trip. Too bad.

I definitely agree with the idea of not clubbing on a first meetup, if nothing else beyond the fact that I can't dance to save my life. I really don't want to scare ya'll off.

I think any of the restuarants at Citywalk are good. Margaritaville is fun. Maybe people that wanted to could hit a movie afterwards? (I am all about the student discount there!)

I think we need to appoint someone to be ready to bail people out. This could get interesting. :-)

Just to set things strait once and for all... Smiley21, Rebelsong84, and cashmoney (aka UFpike) are all three separate people...

Both rebelsong and smiley go to UNF and I know them personally (rebelsong is a sister of my chatper, and smiley I've known for over a year).

Also, I used to talk with cashmoney (UFpike) way back before all that stuff went down.

So, please to lay the rumors to rest they are three different, very cool people.

Who do you hang out with from UFLaw? What year are you? If you're a 1st year student....do you know Jake Thomas? Ben Brown? Those are two of my best friends I grew up with, Ben went to Princeton and Jake, UF. If you're a 3rd year student.....Do you know Pricilla Zahner? Goose? Maria Nettles?



The GGW party was crazy...a little skanky if you ask me. We had a Gemini Party awhile back and DJ Taylor came in from Los Angeles. There were over 2,500 in attendance. It was awesome. It was Simons birthday party.

I'm not stuck....I don't live in Gainesville anymore. I got out of that town right before it got lame. In fact, right after I left everyone told me it got lame as schit. I think it was because my friends and I left, but thats just our opinion. Within one semester after I left....most of the people I knew realized how schitty it had become and everyone dipped out. And thats the reason why its lame as phuck now, that and mostn of last years and this years incoming freshman were major nerds. Most of the people who ran/owned the clubs there are now gone. And yes, I'm still in school. I don't care, I'm actually kinda glad I don't have to get out in the real world yet. I'm not looking forward to having to work those long hours you work and having those headaches and that crazy boss ZTAngel has. Who looks forward to that stuff? Apparently you do.

My boss isn't horrible.... He's actually probably the best boss I've had. He's just a little annoying at times. I think there's very few people out there who absolutely love their boss.

Anyway, I have another suggestion for a place to meet. How about either dinner or lunch at P.F. Chang's in the Mall of Millenia? It's reasonably priced and the food is AWESOME. Also, for those who will be driving either from North or South Florida, it's a stop right off I-4 which is the road everyone will have to get on to get into Orlando anyway.

Let me know if anyone likes that idea and who definitely wants to do this Florida meet-up.

I realized G-ville was lame when I was 17. It took you years of living there to figure that out?

When did you live there and when were you 17? It didn't get lame until 2000/2001. Now, that is of course unless you didn't have very many friends there while you went to school. All my roomates played football with the exception of my 1st term, on top of greek friends, promoters/club owners.....I had a lot of fun. I'm sorry you didn't. Most people that have went ot school there and lived there feel differently than you. The peopel I know liked Gainesville.

I am so sad that I don't live in FL and therefore will not be able to attend this wonderful meeting. I can only imagine how enjoyable a lunch with cashmoney, librasoul, etc. would be. Drama for sure. :D

I'm graduating this semester - getting the heck out of this crappy little town! I know Ben pretty well and I've met Jake. I also know Ben's older brother, Zack. They're all good guys. You must be a Lake City boy too. Ben has a big Ford truck that he just lifted, big wheels, fun! ;)

I think the other people you're listing graduated last May - there was a girl named "Prissy" that was friends with one of my friends but I didn't know her that well.

No, I'm not a LC boy....my dads parents lived there and when I would visit for the summer time I knew them. Ben is originally from Vermont.....he moved to Florida when he was 12 or 13. Him , Adam and Zack all went to Princeton. I havent spoken to Ben in 5 years. I heard he has a kid now. He's not really my type of person anymore, too much of a redneck now. Still, we got into some shit when we were younger. Jake, on the other hand, is still cool as shit. We've had some crazy times. I remember when this one girl ( whos now in Law School and no names mentioned) got ran through at my place one night and a few weeks later she was all on to Jake. He didn't realize it until I said something, after that he talked to her so that she would drive him to class every time he had it during undergrad....it was funny as shit because she always complained that he never wanted to go on a date with her...lol. Our first term at UF we lived 1 building down from each other, we had a lot of late nights. His love life with D'nille was about as bad as mine was with Jenn....only D'nille was an ADPi and not a DG...lol. Does he still drive that white lexus?

Okay so I will be in Orlando the weekend of Nov. 22. I don't know if I will have time to meet anyone because I have too much to do as it is, just thought I would throw it out there. That Sunday (the 23rd) I might have a few hours though.
