... Will be in Cincinnati. Who's going??

I am soooo going I went to the last one and had such a great time that many of my theta eta sisters decided we were going to the one in Cincinnati.

I was going until my friend decided to get married on the 26th of June ;-)

Guess I'll have to wait till 2006!

i'm so there. especially since it's like just down the interstate from me.

you know ill be there. i had such a great time in az that i am determined to be called a confirmed convention person. heheheh. anyways hopefully if i run for eboard and the chapter pays then i wont have to fork out any money,but no matter what ill be there. we should have a greek chat meeting or whatever so we can see who writes on these boards

I'll be there too! My friend's going to grad school at OU so I'll be having an extended vacation in Ohio.

We really should all get together for a GC lunch/dinner or shopping trip!!! :D

I'm already starting to think about what little things I'm going to bring to hand out to everyone. Remember last year how some people did that? I loved the mini ladybugs on clothes lines that Peggy T. gave out. But I have a soft spot for Peggy cause she's so great, and we're in the same Alumnae chapter. :p

well i know of a few cool places we could go for shopping and lunch and stuff. i'm getting excited. can we register yet? i want to make sure i get a spot and a room. i don't feel like driving down to cincy everyday of convention. it's far enough to make it a hassle.

I used to live in Cincinnati, so I was curious which hotel you were using -- I looked at your website & it's the Netherland (used to be an Omni property -- now, I think it's Hilton). It is gorgeous -- and right in the middle of a wonderful downtown area!

Fun facts to know and tell...Chi Omega's Executive Office was located in the adjacent Carew Tower from 1972-1993.

Hope lots of you plan to attend your Convention -- I'm sure it will be an excellent event located it a spectaular old hotel in a wonderful city.

Hey...I really wanna go but I'm not active any more (technically alum) and I've never gone before...May be a stupid question, but am I still able to go??? If so, how do I register/find out more about it, etc???

i'm an alum. does that answer your question?
i'm not sure how to register yet. my guess is just look at the sigma kappa website.

but what convention are you guys talking about?? I just live 3 hours from Cinci so I'm curious as to what it is and what goes on there.

That would be Sigma Kappa's national convention held every 2 years. Sigma Kappa's from around the world get together to have a good time and to conduct national business. A new national council is elected and there are workshops on almost everything. Each chapter is required to send a delegate.

I would love to go to this year's convention! I was never able to go when I was an active member & I would love to go now!

It is pretty expensive to stay in the hotel that nationals uses. When my theta eta's went in 02 we stayed with a sister who lived near the hotel. In 2004 I'm going to fly to ohio and stay with a sister who lives in ohio but not close to convention and then we are going to drive to convention, I'm not sure where we are going to stay yet but I know I'm not staying in the nationals hotel. but if you can aford it go for it because the whole hotel will be sigma kappa's and it's really awesome.

well, i guess i could possibly stay with you too cara. we can all stay together. i haven't sent in my registration yet. i emailed nationals about it a couple of days ago. they responded and said that stuff for convention would be sent after the first of the year. i don't care which hotel we stay at.
sueali - which chapter are you coming to see here in ohio? i'm guessing that some of my kappa gamma girls will be going to convention, but since i'm one of their advisors, i don't really want to stay with them.

what sueali means is that one of our theta eta sisters lives in cleveland, but we met an awesome alumni from illinois weselyan who said we can stay at her house. im just getting too excited for convention and its soo far away!!!

Does anyone know what positions are being asked to attend Convention?

I asked the same question to my chapter and they said they have not been told yet. Although one of them will most likely be the president. Usually what ever position that was choosen to attend COTS last year (treasurer I think) will not be choosen to attend convention. In 2002 the 2 convention positions were VP Scholarship and Pres.. You may also get a clue by looking at the types of programming being offered.

okay, i'm registered for saturday only. i'm going to be arriving on friday night after work and staying til sunday. i might help out by volunteering to help do stuff at convention which means my registration fees will be waived.
but either way, we need to get together and meet while we are all at convention. i'm thinking go out on friday or saturday night. i know of some good places down in cincy to go. let me know. pm me and we can exchange info so we can all get together.

I registered, I'll be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Did you guys see the National Council slate, its up on the website. A Theta Eta is up for National Council. I'm so excited for her, she was President (of theta eta) when I was initiated.

I'm leaving today. I'm meeting up with one of my sisters in Cleveland and we are driving down. Are we having a GC meeting while we are there?

I won't be going but post how it went!!

i will be there on friday night. i'm only doing part of the convention. i'm staying at the hotel it's being held in. i pm'ed you to let you know my name and how to get ahold of me. i totally want to meet you!!

I think that several of my chapter sisters and I are going out one night, but I am all up for some fun with new people just let em know when and where and I am there.

well i know friday night i'm going out and anyone is more than welcome to come along. the red cheetah is a good club in cincy. i've been told it's somewhat upscale so bring nice going out close. also, have a nice day cafe is there along with a few others. just depends on where you want to go. they even have some good stuff on the river and in northern ky. pm me if you'd like my cell number so we can all get together. i already pm'ed sueali. yeah!!! i'm getting excited for convention now.

so sad and happy at the same time. sad for missing out on all the fun sigma kappa stuff at convention. happy for having other sisters experience convention for the first time. i have told one of my favorite sisters to get me something at convention that no one has here and take a lot of pictures. gotta love being a sigma kappa!!!!:D

well convention has come and gone. it was wonderful. i was able to meet some great sisters and even had a drink with a past national president. lots of fun, lots of shopping, and lots of sisterhood. i highly recommend attending the next convention in DC.
