Who is your fave U.S. president?

OK I kind of picked this up from the Reagan thread because people were talking about which president was the best, in their opinion. Please don't let this thread turn into a thread that's trying to sway others opinions or bashing someone's choice. Thanks.

My favorite president is Jimmy Carter. He did a lot for the media, was a great humanitarian, and the most honest and open of all presidents. All of the other presidents in my recolation were either trying to keep secret all of what they did in their presidency (i.e. Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr.) or lie to the public (i.e. Bush Jr. and Clinton).

I thought you were leaving the boards? What's your deal?

The selection of Jimmy Carter as the best president in your recolation(sic) is mind boggling to say the least. Read a book. Good guy, bad president.

Anyway, my favorite president was Benjamin Harrison. Anyone who is called the "Human Iceberg" because he was intensely obese and had a brutal demeanor is a winner in my book. (Parody!)

ztawinthropgirl 10-29-2003 11:52 AM

I have read several books on several presidents and in my opinion Jimmy Carter is the best.

sigmagrrl 10-29-2003 11:54 AM

William Jefferson Clinton, baby!

I love him! AND his wife!

This country saw so much prosperity under his administration....*sigh*

I miss him :(

Ditto. I will say that he's probably done more AFTER he left office than any other former President.

Kevlar281 10-29-2003 12:11 PM

Reagan

honeychile 10-29-2003 12:24 PM

In intelligect, I'll say Thomas Jefferson. For varous other reasons, I'd give the nod to Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, & George Washington.

Jimmy Carter is a very nice & good man, and I think he'll eventually be held in much greater regard than he currently is. I just don't think it will be about his tenure as President, though.

_Opi_ 10-29-2003 12:25 PM

My favorite u.s. presider would have to be..........Baby Bush..

No other president made me laugh as hard as he does ...natural comedian!

selects Slick Willie as their favorite president.

I hope you people are trying to get a rise. The man didn't do anything except let the foreign powers gather strength... I mean, why? Give me one good reason why Schmuck Clinton is better than Washington... I can give you 10 presidents that did ANYTHING he did, better.

People are placing Bush over all those guys you mentioned too -- equally ridiculous.

Besides, the thread didn't ask for who you thought was the best president. They ask for your favorite, which is a completely different thing.

by saying that he didn't see how anyone would mention one over the other is talking about opinion.

The prosperity of the late 1990s was a result of techological innovations particularly the internet.

My favorite Presidents are Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Harry Truman.

Without a doubt--Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.

My favorite modern president is Bill Clinton. He was a great president who made some mistakes. And I love his wife as well!

It makes just as much sense as thinking it's due to the CURRENT president. Take econ.

Anyway . . .

Overrated for the purposes of this thread:
-Lincoln
-Washington
-JFK (holy christ I can't even believe he was mentioned)
-even Woody Wilson

Roosevelts, however, are safe choices - I'll go with them
