Sorry, I don't know anything about the directory, but hopefully the newest incarnation of Digital will have these features, and more!
|
Gents: Yes, if you simply insert "CITY" and "STATE" you'll get a full listing of every LCA member in that town. What's amazing to me is that I just discovered I live a couple of miles away from the father of a fellow Illinois State alum (dad was from Illinois)!
Technology...pretty cool stuff. I'd definitely get the CD for those that haven't made the purchase yet. In ZAX, Bill Foltz BO 130 Illinois State '77 |
OK guys, I will ask you first, where is it on the Site?
If it is like trying to find the Alum Pryamid, it takes an act of ----- to find it. How much does it cost? I know Chad Tino sent me a email about recommendations that I place on LXA GC here and got some great stuff from The Brothers. Digital was how I first found Jason Lenox, Steve Corbin, Joe Clary and some other Brothers. I know I bought a bound directory many years back and it sucked on finding LX Z Brothers. Never bought one since. Jono did say he got a new one and it is really updated to some he has before. But it will only be as good as the information sent to Hdq. and punched in to the data base. Chip, Jono and I laffed our asses off about that when we talked after it was posted!:D |
I have a favor to ask of you - I need you to search for my big brother - please PM me, and I'll send you information.
Thanks Quote:

Ouch on the prices, WOWOWOWOW!
Chipster, when you get enuff posts!:D Think it is 100! Got a ways to go Bro!:) When Jono was here for My Founders Day gathering, he was trying to tell me how to set a list server like BN! But alas, didnt get done!:( I am to DA! for this s**t.:o |
If I don't come up with more posts, I will have to go through initiation again.
|
You thought of it first!
|
Chipster, if you are trying to be a funny BN Techie, lost on me1 Spent the evening at a Politacal fund raisweer, double intrendure there, what a bunch of ass kissing going on, wish I had a Chap stick concession stand out side of the place. GAG!
Is it a Brother Good, or a Good Brother?:) |
Question
It has been so long since I remember being solicited for this, I cant even remember if I ordered (and paid) for one of these things, or if they havent actually come out yet?
Does anyone actually have a new one, or all you all talking about ordering one? Lenoxxx |
We have a member of our Alumni Assn who just got his today.
|
I received the hard cover some time ago, but I thought I'd ordered the CD too. Like Lenoxx says, it's been so long I can't remember. I should try to check back and see.

"The alumni directory may be purchased by calling 800-982-1590.
The soft cover is $77.90. The hard cover is $82.90. The CD is $82.90. The CD and Hard Cover together are $104.90." There's a 2003 available on ABE Books for $28.00. It doesn't say hard or soft cover. ZAX, Jono |
Does anyone who has both (printed and CD) know if the CD is more complete? The hard cover I have doesn't list many names for Florida Tech, but IHQ sent us a spreadsheet with nearly everyone. Maybe the CD IS better for that reason?
On a semi-related note, I'm trying to research a founder of Alpha-Upsilon (Syracuse) but they don't seem to have a website. All I can verify is that he was "class of '18" and I'm told he was in the local, the Commons Club. I'd appreciate any help on this, especially his zeta#. A-Y was installed Feb. 23, 1918 and my guy graduated the same year. He was definitely a founder. Ferris G. Talmage. Thanks, ZAX, Jono |
Can't help you with him but on an interesting side note, we had a Brother with the last name Talmage not to long ago. Not a very common name so if you think it would help I might be able to put you in contact with him.

CD-Roma-Loma
Hey, gang: From what I've seen of the CD to date, it works very well when looking up an individual ("Joe Dokes") or all people w/the same last name ("Jackson"). However, it seems to take off on tangents that don't work at all when looking things up by "Institution" or occupational info.
I've got both a Dell (Windows ME desktop) and Mac (PowerBook G4 laptop using OS 10.2.8). When I attempt to seek something other than "Name" in both OS's the CD just spins around w/out going anywhere. After about 5 minutes I get an error message and it shuts itself down. FYI, the only "Talmadge's" shown on the CD are the aforementioned Ferris (Syracuse 1918, deceased) and George (Miami-Ohio 1974, address unknown). Anybody graduating after 2002 is probably not included. Bottom line: I've attempted to look things up for the various chapters I'm working for, and it's helpful for individual names. Otherwise, it's only so-so TFN. If people have queries, send me a PM - glad to help a bro! ZAX, Bill Foltz BO 130 Illinois State '77 |
Thank you Matt and Bill. I guess I really need to hook up with someone who has access to the records at Syracuse if I'm to find out his Zeta# and personal history while at the school.
You see, the Talmages (no 'd') settled in this town about 350 years ago and have been here ever since. In the 1930's my father worked for Ferris, planting potatoes. One of my best friends from high school is his grandson. When I told John I joined Lambda Chi, he said, "My grandfather was a Lamb Chop - we still have his badge". That was in 1972. He must have heard the term "lambchop" in the land of Beta up at Orono. Well, we've always kept in touch, but I ran into John at the lumber yard yesterday and he said he'd find that badge and bring it over to my house so I can look at it. He also thinks they might also have the one from the Commons Club! I just thought it would be nice if I could tell him some things about his grandfather when he comes over. Thanks again for your help. Anyone from Syracuse??? In ZAX, Jono |
i think it would be a good idea for each chapter to be able to get one at a discounted rate. We have a colony up here in Alaska UAA and do not have a large alumni base.

crmdogg03,
Welcome to greekchat! That directory at ABE books is still available for only $28.00. Somebody's gonna grab it. http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/...L?bi=232859954 Good luck; stay warm! In ZAX, Jono |
Crmdogg,
Were you one of the guys initiated at UF? Let me know... |
no, actually i am a new AM here, sceduled to get initiated next semester, but i know the guys who were initiated down there if you want to get in touch with them just let me know, email is crmdogg03@hotmail.-Josh
|
Josh, good to see ya on site and along with Brother Jono, I too wish you welcome!
Have been trying to get info on you Guys for a long time to see what is up.. Do you have a web site? 2 of LX Z Brothers are up in the tundra working for schools districts. Rick Luthi was asked at one time to work on getting the Colony started but was up to butt in whale blubber steaks!:D |
thanks for the welcome tom, a web site is something we deffinantly need to work on, i believe there is one, but not all that great, none of us have any background in that, i was trying to take a class in that this semester, but it wouldnt count for my credits. I will say that the colony up here is deffinantly on the right track, especially in a very small, unknown greek system such as UAA.-Josh
