In the 90's, Sigmagrrl became VERY aware of the beauty and intensity of music and began her journey to amass a great collection of music. Not all artists I liked back then are on here, but the ones worth mentioning are. I've also given a comprehensive listing of where to find some of these artists' best work (well, IMHO)! Plus, going to school in one of the most progressive music towns in the US, I believe I got a great education in music!

Here we go:

* Pearl Jam - Fave song: "Release", track 11 on "Ten"

* Nirvana - Fave song: "Pennyroyal Tea", track 9 on "In Utero"

* Bush - Fave song: "Letting The Cables Sleep", track 11 on "The Science of Things"

I also like a lot of those early '90s bands like the Cure and the Smiths and that whole brit pop sort of sound. Or was that late 80's? I was young then so I'm not quite sure. I like them more now.

KillarneyRose 10-29-2003 03:01 AM

Without a doubt, Green Day.

smiley21 10-29-2003 11:15 AM

oh, dont forget about natalie merchant and her 10,000 maniacs. to me, music was much more awesome than the music today. the major of my cd collection is music from the early to mid 90s.

The Cure and the Smiths are very definitely 80's.

I will state that my fave song/band of the 90's was "Gangsta Lean" by DRS. I tip a 40 to your memory. :)

I think The Cure gave us some good music in the 90's. But their heyday was definetly in the 80's.

I agree the Smiths were 80's. Morissey had a good release in the early 90's. (Very dissapointing concert though :( , he didn't play any old stuff.)

I loved the Smiths!

Edited to add: I love this thread. It also reminds me that a lot of these great bands played LOLLAPALOOZA. I forgot how great the 90's were. :D

eh, oh well, it's still good. I know the Cure did have some early 90's stuff! Either way...I want to put in a little plug for the Brit Pop station on www.accuradio.com

I'm listening to it at work and every song that comes on is making me squeal. Right now they're playing Love Spit Love's "Am I Wrong"

[\hijack]

I also really liked the Lemonheads
I still like Ben Folds Five
I still like Sublime.

Remember how many good bands came out when grunge was on its way out? Lots of one hit wonders, but music that made my ears happy.
