Childhood chants and games......
Ok, I just said something that I have not uttered in like 18 years, and thought I would start a thread about it! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
Do y'all remember some of the games/chants you played or said as kids?? Let's hear your favorites! Here are mine: 1) What's your malfunction? 2) Back to you, all through you, yo mama, yo daddy, and yo whole generation! (ROTFLMAO!!) 3) I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you! 4) Ugh, You got the touch (crossed fingers)!! Okay, now the games: 1) Freaky Friday (y'all knew better than to wear a skirt on Fridays!!!) 2) Hide and go get it (I was too much of a goody-goody to play that game, but I loved to watch the other kids play it!! Is this where girls learned how to tease men???) 3) Seven minutes in heaven (What did we think we were doing???) [SIDEBAR: I was too much of a goody-goody to play hide and go get it, but it was ok for me to go in the closet with a boy for 7 mins, though, right? What made the closet classier than the bushes??? hmph, hmph, hmph...] 4) Ok, what about the parachute thingie in gym class in elementary school?? That was the best! 5) Crab soccer (With the HUGE ball) 6) Spin the bottle Ok, I think that's all. I had so much fun reminiscing!! I hope you all enjoy the thread as well. Let it take you back! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |

Hey everybody,
I remember just about everything you all have posted so far. I just had to jump in. Games: Catch a girl, kiss a girl It/Tag Hide-n-seek (We used to play this in the neighborhood. You could go at least 2 or 3 blocks away from "goose") Freeze tag Steal the bacon Singing Games: Yo mama don't wear no drawers. I saw her when she took em off. She threw them in the air...Superman said "I declare!" (We had a whole lot of sayings that came after the second line like...She threw them on the track and the train jumped 50 miles back). Hand Games: Twe-lee-lee (Mama said she's rocking in the tree top all night long...) You just HAD to play this one with 3 other people. I'm a nut (I'm a nut [hand clapping]...in a hut [more handclapping]...I stole my mama's pantyhose so what...) Before down-down baby we used to say "I went downtown to see James Brown. He gave me a nickel to buy me a pickle. The pickle was sour. He gave me a flower. The flower was dead, and this is what he said." After down-down baby we start saying...Mama mama sick in bed, she called the doctor and the doctor said, "let's get the rhythm of the head" Ding! Dong!...let's get the rhythm of the hot-dog (saying this while you shake your "imagination") lol Okay, you all see that I got a bit carried away. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif But you all got me thinking about my childhood. I'm only 21, so it's not THAT long ago...but thanks for letting me reminisce. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Much Love...Optimistic1 |

Looking back, this one was soooooo corny, but it was funny then: Guess what? CHICKENBUTT. I know I will think of some more and, post them later. |
My mama and yo mama was hanging out clothes. My mama punched yo mama right in tha nose. Did it hurt? YEAH! Did it hurt? YEAH!.....I can't remember the rest. LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
(So and so) and (so and so) sittin' in tha tree K.I.SS.I.N.G , first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes (so and so) with the baby carriage! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by exquizit (edited December 29, 2000).] |

ZChi...you are good for remembering the 'fast food" rhyme.
I hope you all remember this one: 'Gigolo, gig-gig-olo...gigolo, gig-gig-olo. Hey____, yeah, hey______ yeah, lemme see you gigolo, lemme see you gigolo. My hands up high my feet down low and this is the way I gigolo" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Now I know that brought back some memories!! Have a safe and Happy New Year!! |

REPEAT 2 TIMES THAT LAST VERSE... THEN... ...REPEAT UNTIL EVERYONE PUTS A "DANCE" IN... |
You all are really taking me back!! I had forgotten about all of that stuff. LOL anyway, I have a question..I want to know how/why Nelly makes all of his songs around these little nursery rhymes. For example, his hit country grammar's chorus is "I'm going down down baby, your street in a (Rnge Rover)...shimmy shimmy coco..." What is that about? Then, his second single EI.. is a rip off of "Old McDonald has a farm". That chorus is "E I E I - OH OH". I mean, could he be any less creative?
------------------ I'm not conceited, just convinced. |
Two Pages of this stuff and Yall forgot one of my favorites
Bubble Gum Bubble Gum in a dish how many peices do you wish..... Then you count real fast so that you didn't get yourself out, and if the counter didn't want their freinds out they would add.... ...and out you may go with a dirty dirty dish rag on your left and right toe. What about one potatoe two potatoe Or Dr. Pepper and Introduce yourself Hey Serenity! Yeah! Hey Serenity! Yeah! Introduce yourself! I'll Try! Introduce yourself! Allright! My name serenity! Yeah! Im 24! Yeah! My reputation is so much more! Yeah! So when you see me! Yeah! Just step aside! Yeah! Cause serenity! Yeah! Don't take no Jive! 2 3 4.....Hey (whose next) Introduce yourself. |

My hands were on my little hips between claps! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif We didn't have anything yo worry about back then! We would fight then be friends again within a couple of hours.Boys used to fight with their fists back then too. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif |
ya'll I JUST REMEMBERED THIS ONE...
IT JUST CAME TO ME... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif HOLLYWOOD SWINGIN' HOLLYWOOD (KEEP) SWINGIN' HOLLYWOOD SWINGIN' HOLLYWOOD KEEP SWINGIN' MY NAME IS (?) I'M NUMBER ONE MY REPUTATION IS HAVING FUN SO IF YOU SEE ME JUST STEP ASIDE, CAUSE MIGHTY (?) DON'T TAKE NO JIVE! REPEAT CHORUS REPEAT...I'M NUMBER 2 MY REP..IS LOVING YOU.... IT GOES ON AND ON AND ON AND ON! HAVE MERCY! I'LL TRY NOT TO POST ANYTHING ELSE! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
Now I know you all didn't forget the process of elimination when deciding who was going to be the freezer in freeze tag or who would be the one chasing the other kids around in hide-and-go-seek?
Everybody had to put one foot in while another person went "ini meni mini moe, catch a ..." (hope I spelled all that right) and the poor soul's whose foot was last had to be "it". Lastly, I know this wasn't game but since ya'll took me back I had to bring it up. Passing notes in class to a cute boy with it asking "do you like me check yes or no". Didn't it just burn you up when some of them had the nerve to create a new box saying maybe? Ya'll are taking me back! Does anyone remember that handslapping game that went something like this:
"Mama's having a baby...daddy's going crazy...if it's a boy, I'll give it a toy. If it's a girl, I'll give it a curl. If it's two twins, I'll wrap it up in toilet paper...send it down the elevator...first floor STOP! Second Floor STOP! Third Floor STOP! Don't stop 'til your hands get hot!" Then, you would keep handclapping as fast as you could until you got tired....LOL How about this: remember this game that was played, usually with five or more people, and you have to name a certain number of things that was related to a particular subject? The chant went something like this: "HANDS DOWN VANILLA FIVE (CLAP CLAP) GONNA GET (CLAP CLAP) ONE-A-PIECE (CLAP CLAP) TO NO-A-PIECE (CLAP CLAP) NO HESITATION...(CLAP CLAP) NO DEMONSTRATION (CLAP CLAP) SUBJECT (CLAP CLAP) NAMES OF (CLAP CLAP) (enter subject name here)" Usually, the subject name was boys, or cars, or teachers....and after each round, the number of things you had to name went up....that used to be my FAVORITE GAME!! lol |
This is too funny!
I remember that one about the Big Mac, etc. It went: Big Mac, Filet o'Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fry, Icy Coke, Thick Shake, Sundae and Apple Pie. You deserve a break today at McDonald's and the cup ran away with the spoon...YEAH! Quote:

Anyone remember this?: "Zing, zing, zing, like a washing machine We gonna rock in the treetops allll day long, Huffing and a puffing and singing that song All the little birdies on jay bird street, love to hear the robins go tweet, tweet, tweet Rocking robin Tweet, twee-da-lee....." LMAO! Wow, I can't believe I remember all that! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |

My name is _______ "scorpiooo, sco scorpio.." And I'm a Taurus "scorpio..." (why we called it scorpio, I'll never know...) or jumping Double Dutch ("I was not out ~ you turn double handed!") |
I HAD TO JUMP IN HERE....
Although it was a white valley girl expression anyone that grew-up in the 80's should remember the term "Gag me with a spoon" "Little Sally Walker walking down the street she didn't know what to do so she jumped in front of me (then the person in the middle would jump in front of someone and dance) Gone girl do yo thang do yo thang...gone girl do yo thang do yo thang STOP." "Mailman Mailman do your duty here comes the lady with the African Booty." Did you ever call someone an African Booty Scratcher? "Down by the river with the hanky panky here the bullfrogs jump from bank to banky...." My cousins and I use to sing: "Fat Albert got some stanky draws. I saw him when he took them off. He put them in the washing machine...but the washing machine broke down...he put'em on Santa Claus...Ho Ho who's these funky draws?"
