Is it really true?
OK I watched the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Movie and I have read where this movie is actually a true story. Has anyone else read that or seen the movie? If so, is this movie a real incident?
I mean this may be stupid to aske but I was just wondering what others thought. |

It's true, however it is very loosely based on the real story. (I would personally use "inspired by" rather than "based on." I can't really remember the details of the murders, but it's the same set of murders that inspired Psycho.
|
lord of the rings is also based on a true story.
|
OHHH ok. Very interesting.
ztawinthropgirl -- RUDEY: No, my roommate didn't write the first post of this thread. I was curious from my readings because I don't believe everything I read. |
what happen to dinosista's post?!?
|
the only part of Ed Gein's history that inspired the movie was that Gein used human skin/bones to make furniture, masks, bowls etc. Also hung up a woman he killed on a meat hook to flay her (after she was dead). The book Deviant is about him.
Check this out with TCM info - http://www.houseofhorrors.com/gein.htm |
Yup, despite there being today (in the town where the flick was made) plenty of people who will swear blind to having known the family, spent time with the perp in prison, yadda yadda :); the TCM story isn't true at all. As ariesrising said though it was probably inspired very loosely on some level by the real-life serial killer Ed Gein.
P.S. It wasn't a stupid question. |
just an urban legend.
|
It's a true story based on some guy in Piedmont, South Carolina. I understand his daughter took an incredible number of bowls, masks and furniture with her when she went away to college in Rock Hill.
Spooky. |

I am saying the same thing that ariesrising already said but I'm using more words to sound S-M-R-T, smart. |
Thanks ya'll. These are very interesting posts because there are lots of people who think it's true and those who weren't sure. I personally found it a little unbelievable that anyone would actually chase after people with a chainsaw. Who knows though, right? There are quite a few crazies and wackos out there.
*ztawinthropgirl* -- KillarneyRose, I heard the same story about you. |

What happened to the thread ztawinthropgirl posted bashing me, dionysus, and killarneyrose? I bet DeltAlum somehow had a hand in this. He always causes trouble.

Thank you Damasa, for another attempt to 'instigate'; I'm not going to fall for your attempt thank you very much. I feel sorry for you - always trying to see negativity in something. For the record, I exapnded a little on what Ariesrising said, having read about TCM in articles in movie magazines, when it was re-released in the UK, movies being a particular passion of mine. Often when someone asks about a subject they may well be interested in all the relevant info. people might be able to share with them; not just one point. And, given as this is effectively a community, sharing was what I did. Again, I am sorry to see another attempt on your part to start a flame war - I am really not interested in participating.

dec,
no disrespect here. but if you don't want to let him instigate you, don't respond. by responding to his little jabs you are just playing into his hands. See, he's trolling for a reaction, and he succeeded. I may not be the best to give advice on the topic, as i have been known to be passionate, but after awhile, you need to know when to hold em and when to fold em, as the wise Kenny Rogers once said. Fold em, and let it go. Kitso KS 361 |
the first movie was...don't know how close the remake is to it. Rememeber that it is a remake of a movie that was a different version of someone else's exaggeration/inspired story (psycho) of what really happened. But my question is, how was the movie?

I was told and actually heard today on the radio, that it wasnt a true story, but for purposes of making it a more scary movie, it was created to look like it really happened, like the format of Blair Witch.

You just keep on making jabs at her, unprovoked. She didn't say a damn thing to you, just happened to post in the same thread, and you had to go and make some nasty remark. I think you were better off before when your letters weren't in your name. |

Oh Rudey, it's far more sinister than that. Ztawinthropgirl is a mutant lifeform that escaped from a lab somewhere and is trying to infiltrate society by disguising itself as a sorority girl. I think that most of the time it does okay at hiding its true identity but every once in awhile its system shorts out for some reason and it rants and raves and basically behaves like a lunatic. It's sad, really. Sigh. |

Thanks, sweetie, but you'd better not. If you got too close to it and caught some weird disease I'd never forgive myself.

This is random, and not really related to this thread. But I looked at this ztawinthropgirl's profile or whatever and it's her screenname that has been randomly IM'ing me and asking these absolutely disgusting questions or else calling me a slut and stuff. I would kind of like to know why b/c seriously I don't even know you??

Darling, dontcha know by now? She doesn't need to know anyone to call em out. I'm giving her a half hour before she accuses her roommate of doing such a thing! |
no, decadence, you don't know the whole story, and as always, you feel the need to comment on it anyway. ZTAwinthropgirl has a history of harassing KR and many other GCers under her previous screenname, scpiano211, including a very nasty post that she made this morning and deleted. If you'd like to know specifics, contact KillarneyRose.
Truth be told, I didn't realize the coincidence in towns, b/c I certainly don't read GC in that much detail. |
