i need a major change

how many times have you changed your major?

i have done it five times in the last three years. i am thinking about changing it again.

AlphaGam1019 10-20-2003 08:46 PM

too many times, including transfers.

Just pick one and stick to it. Otherwise, you'll be there forevvvvver :)

mu_agd 10-20-2003 08:51 PM

i changed mine once, my freshman year.

smiley21 10-20-2003 08:51 PM

i know. i am on year number 4 and i am finally finishing up sophmore year. at least my choices in majors have been so close that i dont need to take a lot of different classes

SmartBlondeGPhB 10-20-2003 08:52 PM

Not as many times as I've changed jobs since graduation, and I've only been out since 1992............:D

ThetaPrincess24 10-20-2003 08:57 PM

twice. I ended up going back to my original major :)

jonsagara 10-20-2003 09:04 PM

Twice. Switched once, graduated, going back to get another.

Munchkin03 10-20-2003 09:05 PM

I started out as Art History. Then I went to Architecture, and added Urban Studies.

That's nothing. One of my friends switched from Neuroscience to Religious Studies.

And yes, I did graduate in 4 years.

smiley21 10-20-2003 09:18 PM

my history of majors....

fall 2000- psychology
spring 2001- psychology
fall- 2001- biology
spring- 2002 business (what the heck was i thinking then?!)
fall- 2002- nursing
spring- 2003- elem. education
fall- 2003- psychology

might i add that i didnt even want psychology in high school.
i was deciding between journalism and english:rolleyes:

I'm one of the rarely found people who never changed their major!
I have been a French major for all 5 years (ugh, I need to graduate already...).
I had a double major in music for one semester, but I dropped it down to a minor, or else I would have ended up on the 6 year plan -- no thanks!

ChiOqt 10-20-2003 11:05 PM

I've changed my major 6 times and transferred once. The good thing is that by this time, not only to I get to hang around and have an extra year of fun, but I've got enough classes to pick up a few minors......so just think of it all that way:D

bethany1982 10-20-2003 11:07 PM

I changed my major my freshman year and then I added a second major my sophomore year.

I never changed my major either. I knew from the 9th grade that I wanted to be in psychology, and now I have a master's in it.

The minor switched from sociology to communications (interpersonal communication, not radio/TV stuff) because sociology bored me to tears.

Sociology has bored me to tears too.. but I've stuck with it... somehow :) My minor has always been spanish!

OrigamiTulip 10-21-2003 12:29 AM

I changed twice. I started as a Spanish major, then 3 semesters later changed to Journalism. and after less than a semester in it, changed to Sociology.

I've had a few majors in my day...

Freshman year I started out as mechanical engineering and political science, wanting to be a patent lawyer. I started dating GPBoy (a CS/Business major) and decided that SE would be better than ME because I didn't have to take as much physics. So for a while I was SE and PoliSci, but then I decided I didn't want to take any more math so I was CS and Poli Sci. You could get a Business degree with 3 more classes and an Econ degree wtih 3 more, so then I was CS/PS/Business/Econ for the rest of my stint at Platteville.

Now I'm an Economics and PoliSci major at another school. ;)

MeLikey 10-21-2003 01:18 AM

I never changed mine, though I wanted to halfway through my senior year... but I stuck with it just so I could graduate in 4... I wanted my major since I was in junior high, and now I don't want it at all.

juniorgrrl 10-21-2003 01:26 AM

Started in Computer Science; after 2 semesters I changed to Information Systems.

Thankfully, ALL of the freshman year CS classes are the same as IS - so I didn't lose any classes.

I was lucky. I had enough advance credit to graduate in 4 years - taking 12 hour semesters for the last 3 semesters :P

FAB*SpiceySpice 10-21-2003 02:08 AM

I came to my school as a pre-journalism major. That lasted for freshman year. Fall of my sophomore year I decided I wanted to be a nursing major. Then finally at the end of sophomore year I changed it to psychology and I am sticking with it. I am almost 100% sure of what I am going to do after I graduate and what I want to do with it when I'm older. (Be a clinical psychologist) I will be here for only 4 1/2 years thankfully! I thought it was going to be 5 but I got lucky...kinda. :) When I graduate I will also have a minor in sociology which is random and Italian...which is also pretty random. :D

Just once. I did the typical thing where I started off as Bio (pre-pharmacy) then figured it totally wasn't for me and made the 180 degree turn toward Anthropology. Then I was forced to choose a minor so it turned out be Asian-Pacific Studies.

absolutuscchick 10-21-2003 10:33 PM

I went into college a polisci major, decided before I got there to change to anthropology. Then after a semester of anthropology classes I decided that I wanted to do business but was considering doing a double major. I still (one and a half years later) am business but as I recently realized I have no idea what I am going to do with my life that may change soon.
