Dragonball Z
Okay... maybe I'm outing myself as a bit of a dork here but I've seen some of the anime cartoons for this and I think it's pretty cool! Does anyone else watch?
My boyfriend says that the series is techincally over (just on repeats) and now there are a bunch of video games coming out soon. There's one coming out -- Taiketsu -- that you can play on GameBoy Advance. My brother has one that I like to steal from time to time. Think the game would be a decent investment for when I'm traveling? With the holidays coming up it'll be nice to have a game there for entertainment. |
The series has long been over in japan, but here in Canada Dragonball GT is just starting...I haven't seen any in english, but i know they're being aired.

My FI is an anime nerd. He refers ot Dragonball as "the white out of anime - it's a gateway drug that NO ONE wants to admit they've done after they try the harder stuff" The series is over in 2 ways - out of production and out of style.
From what I hear, most of the games are dreadful. Love Hina is a good anime. Kinda girly, but really cute |

Yu Yu
Actually, I have been watching a show called Yu Yu Hakusho for a while. It is pretty good, and it used to be on that "Adult Swim" show... Anyway, it is cool, does anyone else catch that one?

Anime nerd here! *wavey*
I'm more into the darker anime than the funnier stuff (Ranma, that sort of thing). My weakness is Slayers and Evangelion. :) |

okay, don't try to be cool...
Anime is all about nerds... so if you are trying to sound cool by knowing about Anime, you are a living oxymoron. Back to the topic at hand.... I think DBZ rocks... and the games are awsome too. I usually stick to GBA though, on the train, when I don't feel like reading. I know that YuYu is coming out w/ a GBA game, so I will get that.

Yeeeaaaaah!
I love Dragon Ball Z. And yes the series are over for "the cartoon network" but if you get the international channel, new episodes of DZ come on at 8 nightly. Of course there in Japanese. But if your a true DZ fan you'll just watch it for the pictures. lol :D
I also watch Adult Swim, which hosts Yu Yu Hukasho (sp?) and Inuyasha - both of which are really good. They need to make a movie out of Inuyasha. I also like Samari Jack, not anime, but still pretty good. |
Do you know anything about the GBA game coming out? I have not read anything about it, but I hope it rocks... I am guilty of watching the Anime cartoons w/ the sound off... sometimes I turn it on in hopes of learning Japanese... I wish...
|
I love the game on PS2 -- I played it over at a friend's house and I playes it forever! What is the name of the fighting game on the PS2 box? I really have to say that I think all I want to do is kick cartoon butt!
|
I know AS does Inuyasha, but I thought that regular Cartoon Network showed YYH.

When I lived in Japan back in 89-92,
all the skaters and the kids used to watch Dragon Ball. They all loved it and would mock it. |

They did show it, formerly, but I am not sure that they still do. I need to get back into it, it is a great show. I want the GBA game also. Rock and roll. I saw some DBZ costumes this Halloween. |

So wait a sec, Yu Yu Hakusho has a game coming out? Is this based on the first season? Whats the scoop?!? |

"Yu Yu Hakusho is yet another anime license under Atari's belt, and not surprisingly, they're already creating an isometric adventure game based on the series for the Game Boy Advance. For those that aren't familiar with the anime, it revolves around a character named Yusuke, who dies but comes back to life with the ability to detect demons. Yusuke joins up with other characters, including a former rival gang member, to form a demon hunting club. Each character will have a unique attack based on the spirit energy they posses. Kuwabara--Yusuke's rival--can use an energy sword to attack enemies while Yusuke can shoot energy out of his finger. Hiei is a skilled swordsman equipped with just a regular sword and Kurama uses a thorn whip to dispatch enemies. The fighting system is pretty straightforward and only requires you to hit a button repeatedly when engaging enemies on the map. The structure of the game is also somewhat linear. Though the maps are quite large, there will always be a small icon in the corner indicating the general direction in which you're supposed to go, which is especially helpful since there aren't any maps in the game. Occasionally, you'll come across some special items that will help Yusuke and crew on their journey. For example, there's a demon compass that will enhance the party's ability to detect demons. Yu Yu Hakusho: Spirit Detective will feature 24 levels and six playable characters--the four aforementioned characters as well as Botan (a character from the spirit world) as well Yusuke's girlfriend. The game is currently scheduled for release this winter." Link to Press Release |

I am not sure about the DBZ games... I think the Yu Yu game comes out in December. It will be a great gift for friends of mine b/c the GBA games aren't very expensive...

I am taking a trip tonight to EBgames with my daddy (who is visitng me at the moment =))
and last week I bought myself a Zelda game...for my GBA and this week I am gonna open the bank of dad and have him get my Taiketsu and another zelda game... and I might get Budokai 2 if I can convince him enough!!! |
oh man, I loved Zelda! But I was really a wiz at Link and Tetris on my old school Nintendo.
Schmeer did you get Budokai 2? What do you think of it? I've read some awsome reviews. This one over at this one at IGN is really good. Looks like the graphics are really improved and its perfect for the DBZ hard core fans. |
