ADPi Trivia Game!

I thought it might be fun if we played a game of Alpha Delta Pi trivia! I'll ask a question, and the first person to answer it (correctly, of course!) will then ask another question, and so on. Are y'all game? We'll start off easy:

In what year were we founded?

GreekLetterGirl 10-20-2003 11:24 AM

1851.

psst - you get to ask a new question now!

honeychile 10-20-2003 01:35 PM

Okay, to get this moving, I'll ask another question.

Whoever answers, please post a new question (so I don't feel like a quiz master!).

What type of violet was the original ADPi flower?

jh124 10-20-2003 02:15 PM

Woodland Violet Has anyone ever seen one, by the way? Do they have them in Georgia? Just curious...

How many founders are there?

UNLADPi 10-20-2003 02:35 PM

The official flower is the woodland violet, but you can't buy em in stores...so we use the African Violet as a "substitute":)

What is the open and wonderful motto of Alpha Delta Pi???

adpiucf 10-20-2003 02:46 PM

WE LIVE FOR EACH OTHER.

Name the six founders of Alpha Delta Pi!

adepiash 10-20-2003 02:51 PM

What college were we founded in? Why was is so significant??? :)

honeychile 10-20-2003 02:54 PM

Georgia Wesleyan College for Females - the first college for women.

Which is our oldest chapter?

WLFEO 10-20-2003 02:57 PM

Alpha chapter at Wesleyan is the oldest, but the oldest that is still open is Delta at the University of TX!

When did the Ronald McDonald House become our international philanthropy???

honeychile 10-20-2003 03:20 PM

Well! Had to go look that one up, but I found out the year: 1979!!

Which other sorority makes up what GreekChat calls "The Macon Magnolias"?

WLFEO 10-20-2003 03:35 PM

Phi Mu? (I think???)

How much do we pay our International President for all the work she does for our sisterhood throughout the year?

Strictly a guess (which is why I'll wait for confirmation!): reimbursement of her expenses incurred? In other words, nothing.

WLFEO 10-20-2003 05:47 PM

Exactly! She's a volunteer! Only employees of Executive Office and TCCs are paid.

ASUADPi 10-20-2003 07:42 PM

i've got a question

This is really a three part question:

1) What was our 'original' name?
2) What was it changed to in 1905?
3) What year was it changed to Alpha Delta Pi?

Good Luck

Bonus question: What year did we decide to go national?

Violets go out to all who can name all four answers

Brianna

Brianna

1. Adelphean Society
2. Alpha Delta Phi
3. 1913

And we decided to go national in 1904

My question: How many collegiate chapters do we have?

SororgrlADPi 10-20-2003 08:14 PM

1) I think this is what ASUADPi is looking for...our 'original' name was The Adelphian Society.

2) In 1905 our name was changed to Alpha Delta Phi.

3) In 1913 our name was changed to Alpha Delta Pi (I think?!?)

Bonus: My guess is that it was decided around 1905ish to go national, but I am not sure on that one.....

Ok, here is(are) my question(s)......

I know it is an easy one, but "What is our newest chapter?" and "What is our newest colony?"

Bonus points if you can name both Greek letter designation and College/University.

honeychile 10-20-2003 08:14 PM

137 (yes, I had to count - I don't have this memorized!)

What was the mascot prior to the use of Alphie the Lion?

I believe it was a dragon

if that is right...my next question, is where was the first executive office?

adpiucf 10-20-2003 08:41 PM

The unicorn was the original mascot of the Adelpheans.

Here's a question about chapters.... What chapter of ADPi built its chapter house in the early 20th Century, and had to build around a huge boulder that machines at that time were unable to pick up and move? Today that boulder is housed in a room known as the "rock room." Hint: This is a single-letter chapter in the northwest.

honeychile 10-20-2003 10:33 PM

Isn't that Upsilon? I seem to remember a TCC mentioning it, and she was from Oregon.

I'll go with nauadpi's question: where was the first executive office?

I'll go back and answer your questions:

Newest Chapter: Eta Omega at Centre College in Kentucky.
Newest Colony: Theta Alpha at Rockhurst University in Kansas City (not sure if it's the Kansas or Missouri side!)

Now, reasking nauadpi's question (which I have no clue about!):
Where was the first executive office?

WLFEO 10-21-2003 11:44 AM

FYI- Our colony at Rockhurst is just that- a colony. Upon installation, it will be given the chapter designation of Theta Alpha. So we officially still refer to it as Rockhurst Colony for now. Just thought y'all might want to know that for grins!

honeychile 10-21-2003 01:49 PM

Just a guess - was the first Executive Office in Macon? I seem to remember that the first Grand President was still in school.

I'm lost without my copy of "Sisters"! :)

IF I'm right, to which future Grand President did I serve homemade chili from a popcorn popper (because our stove was broken)?

nauadpi 10-21-2003 03:28 PM

Our first executive office was in Ames, Iowa...Random I know...but it is in our handbook...Ok...Another question...what was Eugenia's first husbands name?

Judge Arthur Cochran. But I'm confused - isn't the custom to keep all surnames, making her Eugenia Tucker Cochran Fitzgerald?

Okay, back to my popcorn popper chili - to which future Grand President did I serve it? :)

WLFEO 10-21-2003 05:01 PM

I'm going to guess that southern belle, Beth Mannle. But I can also picture the scene being hilarious with Chris Dickey. Tell us soon, Honeychile!

Since this was an unfair question, I'll go ahead and tell y'all - Jane Madio. She's such a lovely and down to earth person! Because our stoves weren't working at the time, I made the chili - but still set a nice table with the linens, china, and flowers. We used the sterling silver punch ladle (complete with Alpha Delta Pi monogram!) to serve the chili right from the popcorn popper!!

I'll let someone else ask the next question, since mine was "dirty pool"! :)

WLFEO 10-21-2003 09:08 PM

Ha ha! I'm ROFL!!!! You'll have to remember that for the ADPi Gourmet Book that you're going to write!!!! :D :D :D

adpiucf 10-21-2003 09:09 PM

Name the current members of Grand Council!

honeychile 10-21-2003 09:26 PM

Psst - are we allowed to check the newest Adelphean?

Heck, you use whatever resources you need. This trivia game is open book! :)

honeychile 10-21-2003 09:56 PM

*hustles back from her nightstand*

Kathryn Peddy Goddard
Claire Brown Gwaltney
Jennifer Davie Fletcher
Kirstin L. Dolan
Paula Kendrick
Renee Bailey
Elisse Jones Freeman

Name two of the current TCC's!

adpiucf 10-21-2003 11:16 PM

Two of the TCC's are Barrie Hearn (Lambda) and Kristie Perrotte (Beta Kappa)

This next question is a two-parter:
1) What is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a collegian?
2) What is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a collegiate chapter?
Bonus: What is the highest honor an Alumnae Association can receive?

:)

honeychile 10-21-2003 11:19 PM

1) Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award (any other winners/runners-up?)
2) The Golden Lion Hall of Fame

Bonus: Not feeling like a dinosaur when you're advising or otherwise helping a chapter?

honeychile 10-22-2003 02:07 PM

Does anyone else know the bonus question, since I obviously don't!

WLFEO 10-22-2003 04:03 PM

It's the Pi Pride award.

OK- Here's a question........
How many states have an ADPi chapter? How many Canadian Provinces have ADPi chapters?

perkypenguin629 10-22-2003 06:42 PM

answer

50 states and one canadian province???
