Toilt Seat

Ok ladies.

What is with the Toilet Seat and why is it such an important symbol of a man's regard for you lol?

If we have to remember to always put a toilet seat down, why can't you equally remember just to check if it is up or down?

Isn't that the same energy?

Plus, if its down all the time, we have to put it up to use it a lot and then put it down again.

I don't understand what gives. Why is it more important for you then us lol?

xok85xo 10-18-2003 12:13 PM

because when you go to pee at 3am when you're half awake the worst that will happen is that you will pee on the seat. if it happens to us, we fall in.

anymore questions?

ZTAngel 10-18-2003 12:20 PM

The toilet just looks ugly when the seat is all up. You can see the inside of the toilet (bleh) and, if you don't clean it once a week like you should, you can see the hard water stains. It just looks better with the seat and lid down.

KillarneyRose 10-18-2003 12:36 PM

I agree with ZTAngel. To me, it is a purely aesthetic matter.

CatStarESP4 10-18-2003 02:12 PM

Ditto on what ZTAngel said!

I agree with ZTAngel...

Unfortunately, even after many years of living together, I've been totally unable to train Mr. aephi alum to put the seat down.

Hootie 10-18-2003 05:40 PM

When I was little I was in such a hurry to pee that I didn't even look, went to sit down, and my little tush ended up in the cold toilet water  I was so pissed off....more upset...but still pissed.

I think it's a matter of appearance too. I've seen what the bottom of some people's toilet seats look like and they're NASTY!

IheartMATT806 10-18-2003 06:49 PM

How about this for a solution:

LADIES put the seat up when your done (Clean it once a week like YOU ALREADY SHOULD!! so it still doesnt look nasty) So its easier for your man

GENTLEMEN: Put the toliet seat down after you use it!! (Make your women happy!!)

After a while the men will get used to putting it down and you wont have to keep putting it up to remind them!!

It worked for meeh..im sure it will do the same for you!

valkyrie 10-18-2003 07:22 PM

I read somewhere that when you flush a toilet, all kinds of stuff sprays out and that's just gross. The toilet seat and lid should be down when it's not in use. That also prevents the cats from playing in the toilet, and it just looks a lot better.

ITS A TOLET SEAT IN A BATHROOM!! its not meant to be all pretty...its a meaningless room in a house. im sure the world wouldnt end if the seat was still up just because it leaves your cat swimming around or looks better.

*Keep up on your cat and its thirst and dont worry about small stuff like tolet seats and the way they look*

SmartBlondeGPhB 10-18-2003 08:12 PM

Hootie, that was hysterical! I have come close, but haven't ended up feeling the water.

And yes, my only reason for the seat to be down is so my cats won't get into it. I have a number of pictures of their little rear ends sticking up in the air as they tried to balance on the edge and drink out of it.......

Rio_Kohitsuji 10-18-2003 08:12 PM

I personally like the toilet seat down. One, keeps water from spraying up, two, looks better, and three, late night trips to the bathroom are much easier to deal with when not "falling in". Thankfully, my boyfriend and his roomate keep the seat down when I'm around :D

IheartMatt806- I disagree with your statement that a bathroom is just a "meaningless room". I mean c'mon, without it we'd be either be outside in the woods pissing on a bush or be taking a tinkle in a bucket in the corner of the room. I personally enjoy my meaningless room, it gets pretty chilly here in Ohio... :p

IheartMATT806 10-18-2003 08:30 PM

Considering all the time I DONT spend in the bathroom is the reason why i would call it a "meaningless room." It doesnt even compare to other rooms therefore i have to reason to worry about what looks better: Lid up or Down

People its a toilet seat..are we getting lazy or what!?

honeychile 10-18-2003 08:41 PM

1) Commodes are wonderful but ugly inventions. Both the seat and the lid should be kept down.

2) What Hootie said!

3) I've found that slamming the seat down with every ounce of your strength a few times in the middle of the night gets the trick done. You will probably have to buy a new seat or two, but the point will be made.

4) If you plan to ever have children or pets, keep the lid down!! Once you've counseled parents whose two year old drowned in the toilet, you will never be able to stand the sight of an open toilet again

smiley21 10-18-2003 08:44 PM

i just want to take this moment to thank the Lord that i have my own bathroom

KillarneyRose 10-18-2003 09:52 PM

Okay, here's the final word on toilet seats! :D

When my cleaning lady finishes the bathrooms she leaves the seats and covers down . I have never given her instructions one way or another. She is obviously a professional in the toilet seat placement area so I say we defer to her.

Sound good? :)

Rudey 10-19-2003 06:18 AM

My women all use biddets and i have my own trough so no conflicts of interst.

Wahoooo someone's a lil anal about the rooms in their house.

Rudey-- baddet's are used to cleanse the area, NOT to pee in!

And one time, my friend decided to leave the toilet seat up. I, thinking that I was putting the lid down (it was dark, and late) I put my pajama pants on the seat. Except, it wasn't the seat. IT WAS THE WATER!!!!!

Here's to that!!!! :)

There are a million reasons to keep toilet seats and lids down.

The main two:

Sanitary reasons.

Aestheic reasons.

Nice snotty comment! No matter how much water you have out for cats, they're curious animals and get into things (like toilets) if you're not careful.

If it's so meaningless, how about giving up your bathroom and peeing in a ditch outside?

Tom Earp 10-19-2003 04:22 PM

Rudey, You probably use a bidet!

The Crappers of Europe, Continental are Very Far different that what We as North Americans are used to!:(

If there are Partners in a household, then get 2 facilities! Simple? Eh!:D

ROFL, T.!

kappaloo 10-19-2003 04:54 PM

After using the washroom...

Women - put the lid down!
Men - put the lid and the seat down!

It's the same action for both genders!

That said ... we're learning to always keep the lid down in my apartment because my kittycat has decided that toilet water is the tasty-est out there.... eewwwww....

'Ey! Oklahoma isn't THAT far removed from civilization - last time I checked they do have hot and cold running water and flush terlets!

Besides, Tom's in KC - can't vouch for that area! ;) :) :D

James 10-19-2003 05:13 PM

I think she just meant that it isn't a die-hard issue that needs getting passionate about.

I have heard this as well, that microscopic pieces of fecal matter spray up in the air...eeeww.
I too, keep the lid down when not in use. (and I clean my bathroom once a week). It looks nicer that way.

etahannah 10-19-2003 06:53 PM

so um yeah...this is the opposite situation for me and my best friend (who lives with me). he always is on my case about putting the lid down and i always leave it up!! he never leaves the bathroom without putting it down...so i guess i am the problem. i never even thought of this until i read the post!! hehe!! kinda funny!!

veemers 10-19-2003 11:43 PM

I used to live in a house where the people changed rather frequently, and we agreed to use this method:

MORE MEN THAN WOMEN = leave the seat up

MORE WOMEN THAN MEN = leave the seat down

(there were five people in the house, so we didn't have to worry about ties)

It worked well.

Dionysus 10-19-2003 11:44 PM

This is why girls need to learn how to pee standing, lol.

On the other hand, we should not have to do so in the privacy of our own homes.

RioLambdaAlum 10-20-2003 10:27 PM

oh just know we rock

Just know men that we women are right and when we say PUT THE SEAT DOWN we mean it! I live at home right now til I can afford my own place, and since my brother isnt here anymore its just my mom, dad, and I so you think with one less guy he could put it down since he is out numbered, but noooo he doesn't. So for all you guys unless you live by yourself PUT THE SEAT DOWN. :p Gotta luv us women who complain about you boys.

TexasAGD 10-20-2003 10:52 PM

i have a solution: install urinals in the bathroom for the men and close it off in its own little area

about cleaning: use one of those "cleans after every flush" things, just place it in the toilet and its clean

about the cat problems: poison the water
