Sisterhood Events Ideas
Hey,
My sorority needs more sisterhood nights in order to bond. I was wonderng: What do your sororities do for your sister events? Thanks! |
Here are some things that my chapter has done in the past.
1. Movie/Pizza Night 2. Slumber Parties 3. Bowling 4. Pot-Luck Dinners 5. Quilting: Each girls makes a square, with paints, that represents herself. Then the squares are brought to a quilter to be put together. 6. Ceramics: We have a place in town that you can go into and paint pieces of pottery. (Picture Frames, Tile, Cups, Mugs, etc.) After you decorate, you leave the piece there for them to glaze. In a few days you get your artwork back. These are just a few things. Hope they help. |
We went camping one year and it was a BLAST! Of course we were in a cabin and had electricity. ;)

[B]4. Pot-Luck Dinners One thing about our Pot-Luck Dinners: If you get up to get something else to eat or drink, when you go back to sit down, you have to sit at another table. This way you talk to more people than who you initially sat with. Great way to get to know more sisters than with whom you typically hang out. |

For our last retreat, we went to Build-A-Bear. I don't know how well known it is, but it's a store (kinda geared towards little kids) where you pick out a stuffed animal, and you get to stuff it yourself, and make a birth certificate, and dress it, and all these other fun little things. The bears are anywhere from $10 to $20, and they're all really cute! You can even get accessories for it like shoes, jeans, sunglasses, etc. Then we bought plain T-shirts, and went back to a sister's house to puffy paint "lettered" shirts for the bears. I thought it was fun, because now we have a super fun bear to remember our retreat by! :D

Bake cookies, build gingerman houses....

The Build-a-Bear idea is great! Especially if your mascot is a teddy bear.
Another idea is to have a scrapbooking event of some kind where everyone gets together and works on their individual sorority scrapbooks. You could get together and decorate giftbags for children in the hospital (or something related to your philanthropy) - that way you're all hanging out together AND doing something useful. |
Sisterhood Events - Hope these help!
Hi. Here are a couple of sisterhood events you might try (if you haven't tried it already).
1. Movie Nights 2. Dinner Party 3. Laser Tag 4. Ice Cream Socials 5. Day at the Park 6. Camping 7. Bowling 8. Sleep overs 9. Pot Lucks 10. Art & Crafts Hope this helps! :) University of Nevada - Las Vegas Alpha Xi Delta Iota Epsilon Chapter |
We had a PJ party at IHOP and it was a blast and all the sisters love it. Road trips and camping are great too. If you are stuck in a car or the wilderness, you gotta learn to love the people you are with!

I absolutely love sisterhood events!!!!
A really great idea is crafts night where everybody brings something to paint, like a plaque or a wooden box and everyone around, talking and painting. Another awsome thing to do is a scavenger hunt, one way that this can work is if you group up people that don't hang out as much so everyone gets a little more insight to sisters that they didn't really know before, plus everyone in a group has to work as a team!!! 21 questions is another awsome night. Everyone gathers in a circle and there is one question that is asked and everyone has to answer, some can be silly, but some are serious and a great way to know your sisters better!!! Hope this helps |
My sorority is taking a trip to the mountains to stay in some cottages, we'll play games, eat junk, watch movies and talk all night long, it's a blast!

sisterhoods
Our chapter has done Mar Kay parties, carving pumpkins, hay rides, back masages, making valentines, hiking, picnics, movie nights, we had a support bra- where we decorated it and every week i went to a different member that did something outstanding or needed help that week, we had a my hero book that ppl would write in about a girl tha really ment something to them and then it would be passed on. a love jar that after every meeting it would be passes aroung and ppl would just put notes in it like saying hey you look beautiful or we had fun partying this weekend- thanks for the ride. just stuff like that. really helped our chapter. hope it helps!

Here's a fun sisterhood to try:
DEATH BY CHOCOLATE NIGHT. Each sister must bring something chocolate to share. :D |
Sisterhoods
One sisterhood we had was a fondue party, some other I am planning as social chair this year are a virgin cocktail party and a letter making party - with tote bags or whatever girls want to make with letters on it.

for you scrapbookers out there... gather the girls and have a scrapbook retreat at a resort for the weekend somewhere. doesnt have to be expensive. here in california renting a mtn cabin for a weekend is rarely inexpensive
pretty much an all weekend sleepover! |
Speaking of scrapbooking...
While browsing on Ebay I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2216306537 And if you look at the seller's other items they have them for several sororities. Too cute! :D |
We used to do Progressive Dinners all the time. That's when different members of the chapter volunteer their houses, and you go to a different person's house for each course. Appetizer at one person's house with corresponding beverages, salad at another persons, entree at another persons, etc. etc. You could do three or four houses, or you could do like 9 and just have a lot of courses! But it is a lot of fun!

I've been trying to get my chapter to do karaoke night. It's really cheap -- all you need is a machine (our school has one that we can borrow), a room (we're unhoused, so we reserve classrooms for this kind of thing), and snacks. It's a lot of fun! Acting silly is a great way to bond with each other. :)

I always thought it would be fun to do something silly like, go to Chuckie Cheese's wearing letters, you could eat pizza, have a skee ball tournament, win goofy prizes, and take lots of funny pictures for the chapter scrapbook.
Another fun video game type social could be a Dance Dance Revolution tournament you could go to an arcade with a couple of machines or borrow a ps2 from a sister or an obliging fraternity brother, as long as you can get the footpads. then you can have hours of fun stumbling/dancing along to the music, you could give the girl with the best moves a small tropy er something. I dunno |

We had Bid Day at Chuck E. Cheese's. It was pretty fun, my Pi pal and I pooled our tokens to get tickets and then used them to get tacky fake fingernails and lip stuff and such...we still haven't worn them out yet!
|
glad i'm not alone
i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks that would be fun. I was beginning to think I was crazy. Anyway, I'm the incoming VP of programming (socials) for my alumnae assocation and I thought I might use that one as a family night er something since alot of our girls have kids.
|
a fun one my chapter has used (we actually used it for recruitment) is tye-dying pillow cases. Then, we kept the ones for the girls we were giving bids to and we all signed them and gave the pillow cases to the new memebers on Bid Day as part of their Bid Day Packs. All the sisters had a blast, and we even passed around our pillow cases.. its was like signing yearbooks.. cheesey but fun! :D
also.. this week, we're having a physical education dept. professor teach us line dancing. Fun fun fun!! :D :D |

go roller skating! fun from the 1970s and you get a killer let workout too.
my sorority is big on eating food. so anything involving a potluck is usually pretty good. everyone signs up for a certain genre of food...etc We have some pretty funny games too: This one sisterhood night we divided up into each others family in the house. The sisterhood chair stood in the middle and gave us a word. (We used the word "love.") We went around in a circle to each family and had to come up with a popular song with the word love in it and sing it to the best of our ability (just a phrase or so, not the whole song.) We did this until each family was eliminated... if you couldn't think of a song or repeated a song already sung, you were eliminated. We are all tone deaf so it was one of the more memorable games we played. |
