Look guys I was going to come in here and congratulate the Yankee fans on a great series. I'm a Boston girl born and bread and yes I'm upset and wish it was us who won but I have to say it was a quite a game and an even better series. But if you guys are going to be so childish about it then forget it.

God

I REALLY hate the yankees and their fans.

Almost as much as i hate the longwhorns and their fans.

At least the longwhorns are Texans

WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was so scared when the yakees were losing. i am so happy!!!!!!!!!! you just cannot have a real world series without my yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D
they will beat the crap out of the florida marlins!

SSS1365 10-17-2003 05:56 AM

Ok, I officially no longer give a rat's arse about baseball :(

It all started when the Mets (my team) decided to be a horrible team, and now, I wanted this World Series to be the Cubs and Red Sox, and now it's NEITHER.

(sigh)... So I guess I have to say Go Marlins, because I will NEVER root for the Yankees, not even if hell freezes over.

LeslieAGD 10-17-2003 06:32 AM

Yay Yanks! My mom is a huge fan and was so pissed off when she thought they were going to lose!

KSigkid 10-17-2003 06:38 AM

Go Yanks...I'm glad my boys are going to the series again this year, I don't think I could have taken it if they were beaten by the Sox.

Red Sox had a hell of a season...which I know is no consolation, but still. Grady is a good manager (90 wins in back-to-back years).

MeLikey 10-17-2003 08:17 AM

So happy the Yanks won!!!

33girl 10-17-2003 10:12 AM

well.. no one thought they would get as far as they did this year.. and they proved many people wrong, including me, who's been watching them for as long as i can remember. so i'm definitely still holding out hope for next year!

Yeah you know what? That's retarded. Seriously I'm tired of that crap. Nobody said anything about how the Cubs have their own legal scalping operation just a short distance away from Wrigley. Nobody said anything about how the Cubs cheat the league.

And how the hell do the Marlins have heart?

If you look at the serious facts, because the Yankees have chased after so many great players, baseball has changed and teams have become more competitive. The game is more exciting.

I'd say the Yankees have some heart too.

The Marlins are certainly paying Pudge a pretty decent amount for his "heart." I'd say going out and signing him had a lot to do with it.

The Yanks spend a hell of a lot of money, that's true, a good deal more than other teams. But they're not the only team that spends; if you know anything about baseball, you know that.

ZZ-kai- 10-17-2003 01:23 PM

Here you go, facts prove it all. Yankees have all the money and continually buy decent players for short term contracts just so they can make it to the "big dance" at the end of each season (I.E. Aaron Boone, Giambi, Dave Justice, Ventura, Mondesi, Paul O'Neil, Reuben Sierra...etc...just to name a few.)

Lets talk baseball.

Please explain the "legal scalping operation" and how they cheated the leagues. I am not a Cubs fan, so this did not insult me, but I am still interested in learning about this.

How disgusting. I went to bed last night thinking that Boston had it - when I last saw the score it was 4 to1. This Baltimore woman would like to repeat the sentiment yet again - yuck the fankees.

Go Marlins.

Imthachamp 10-17-2003 03:04 PM

yanks buy their championships.

teams like oakland deserve to be there.

Thrillhouse 10-17-2003 04:09 PM

We knew New York spends more than other teams as ksigkid stated already. However how many homegrown players did Boston have?

New York spends and I applaud them for it because they can. There is no rule in baseball against spending as much as you want. Why don't other teams do it than? The yankees are playing by the book just like the other 29 teams can.

The yanks have a ton of revenue but thats all about good front office work and an overall good product. (although playing the largest market has some say in it) Baseball is a buisiness and the yanks are the best at it.

I also want to ad that I am not a yankee fan at all but I enjoy to watch them in the playoffs each year because its such a storied organization.

Imthachamp 10-17-2003 04:30 PM

yanks buy their championships

Rudey 10-17-2003 04:32 PM

What does that prove? Nobody says the Yankees don't spend. Should all teams spend the same? Is that what you want?

Several years ago during the baseball strikes, businessmen got together to create this one league that they owned entirely - not just one team at a time. All the talent would be spread out. You know what happened with it? Nothing.

Now that we know that the Yankees spend, let's look at other things. The Yankees give money to the league based on their large profits. The Yankees because of their location and history are able to pay for the team.

Also the Yankees haven't "bought" anything. Most of their championships were in which decades? Now they've only won 40% of the championships in the last 10 years even though they bought them? The fact is that the aggressive recruiting and higher salaries have made the game more exciting. Teams have become more competitive to keep up.

And another thing I just thought of. How much the team makes is always one of the biggest secrets out there. You can never find an accurate number because owners hate to release it. On average they say that teams bring in 25% every year because the MLB is considered one of the worse monopolies ever. So other teams can still profit and pay their players more. Should the Yankees be to blame for that? Why don't you blame the other owners?

Does this mean the Brew Crew would get the Yankee payroll? Maybe they would be good then! ;)

Peaches-n-Cream 10-17-2003 05:23 PM

I am so happy that the Yankees won. I was watching the game last night, but I turned the channel for a second and missed the homerun. I knew they won because I heard people cheering in the street after midnight. I flipped the channel and saw the victory celebration. Yippee! Jeter looked good!

ZZ-kai- 10-17-2003 05:26 PM

Don't count out the Brew-Crew just yet. Maybe if they had a ga-zillion dollars, they could win a championship too. Until then, we are stuck with Richie Sexon and baseball Greats such as Rob Deer, Ben Ogilvie and Pete Voucovich.

Rudey, Marlins in 6....just watch.

Yeah, I was just messin witch ya. I give all the credit to the yanks - hell, their record proves their the best team in the league. However, the Marlins didn't just slide into the World Series. Either way, with the cold moving in, the leaves changing colors...etc., the World Series couldn't be any better right now.

Wow! I got IMs and phone calls right after the HR from about a half dozen people. We were going nuts! The game was ana awsome game, the perfect way to cap off a great series.
I have a friend who is a Marlins fan...I should have saved his IM. He was telling me he hopes that he dosen't her that the Marlins bought there NL championship...considering the facttaht most of them aren't homegrown.

yeah.....me too, kid...........

sigma3 10-17-2003 11:15 PM

While the Yankees may have the biggest payroll in baseball, I would like to point out they have some homegrown talent. Derek Jeter started in their farm teams and has moved up to the majors, through the Yankees' farm team. And aside from high salaries, I think it can be said that if all team payrolls were equal, chances are good the Yankees would still be the best team because people want to be a part of that kind of history. But then again, maybe not. And for the record, I am a Yankees fan, but I was more so hoping for a Cubs-Yankees World Series.
