Resolutions

We are rapidly approaching a new year. Has anyone made any new years resolutions?

I love you guys!

Conskeeted19,
Usually I try to avoid the hype because I feel that you don't have to wait until the New Year to make a change. However, this year-my grade point average took a nose dive from a 3.68 to a 3.2 and I do need to set back, think, and get my priorities straight about my academic future.

So, I guess I do have a few small resolutions for the New Year. Conskeeted19, what is/are yours?

Poplife 12-24-2000 08:02 PM

Nope. And I never do.

SWEETAKA 12-24-2000 10:58 PM

This year, as in years past, I plan to look inward to seek ways I can become a better person in service of humanity. This is a lifelong committment that I seek to improve upon each year, because as each year passes, I gain more of an understanding of myself and God's purpose for my life. New Year's resolutions should reflect a time of growth toward a purpose and not meaningless words wasted. I hope all have chosen a continuous resolution that is focus and solid in foundation. For each day as I should climb higher and higher to my proposed destination, I have resolved to reach back and pull someone forward who may be just a little behind me.
Much Love

SweetAKA, I could not have said it better.

BACKKKKK to the top!!!!

I was thinking about this, I know it's kinda early...but if I REALLY want to make a change I guess I need a "transition time".

This year, ONCE AGAIN, SERIOUSLY THIS TIME, I am going to get healthier. I have said this time and time again, and honestly none of my friends have any reason to believe that this time won't be a three week ordeal that leads right back to me complaining about my weight. This time, I am serious, I see far too many young people coming into the hospital with serious health conditions that are exacerbated by their weight!

It's about time for me to show Columbia exactly how fly I am!!!
I am going to head to the gym...seriously and make a difference this time!!!

Resolutions 2003

This past year, I've discovered who I really am spiritually, physically, emotionally, and academically. I have transfered schools and am looking forward to a brand new GPA in mid December which I've been working very hard on. I have rededicated my life to Christ. I can't remember the last time I smoked weed. I've had enough of the club scene and am taking a break from that. I haven't been "nice" or "toasty" in months. I have been celibate for one ENTIRE YEAR and it's been haaaaaaaaaaaard. (I told y'all I used to WILD OUT & and I meant that:p)
My theme for 2003 is "Beginning Anew"...2003 is going to be my 21st year, and I would like to perfect the areas in my life that have been wiped clean this past year.
I resolve to:
*Try to eat healthier and not consume as much pork and beef, drink more water, and exercise at least three times a week.
*Cut my relaxed hair off and begin growing natural hair.
*Spend more time developing a personal relationship with God and finding a church home in Greensboro.
*Put much more time and effort into my academics so that I can maintain my GPA.
*Remain celibate until married and continue to trust God to get rid of all this sexual frustration I feel right now even as I type
*Start over financially...although I'm not quite sure how to handle this and I'm praying for guidance and wisdom. I also plan to open a savings account and actually SAVE something.

skeeliteful 12-01-2002 09:14 PM

Good for you, NOWorNEVER

NOWorNEVER, you and I have the same resolutions.

My motto is "2003...The Year to be me". On new year's day I will be cutting my hair off to the 3 inches of new growth that I have. I'm doing this so I can learn to be happy with myself and also learn patience.

I'm also going to become more active in church. A soror told me that everyone has a ministry. I really can't do that unless I'm involved.

This is one year that I am looking forward to.

Resolutions....

I only hope to be a better person on every level this year...it will be a year after I crossed and I still haven't gained my "normal" self back....I miss the old me and I hope that I will become her again soon...I want to read more (school work takes up so much of my free time)....and I also want to build a better relationship with God.....I DEFINITELY need to rebuild my finances and decide where I want to go for medical school(in state vs. out of state)....these are actually just a few but I'll give someone else a chance now...... :)

1savvydiva 12-21-2004 03:53 AM

Is this the only Resolutions thread?

TTT
1) I've noticed that especially lately, I've developed a habit of asking err'body's opinions, even on the simplest things. It's almost as if I don't trust myself to say/do the right thing. Now although I appreciate a friend's advice, I should be able to trust my own judgement. I need to do better.

2)Journal on a consistent basis. One of my homies was speaking of reading back through some of her journals through the years and I want to have that experience someday. I've found that through journaling the past few days...I've been able to cut back on the habit mentioned in #1. Self-evaluation/introspection is healthy.

3) No regrets.

That's all

9dstpm 12-23-2004 06:14 PM

1. Really get serious about writing my book. I know that 've been saying it for years but I am really gonna do it in 2005.

2. Really get serious about losing weight and getting back in some shape.

3. Speaking of getting in shape, Hubby and I are resolving to get in better financial shape so that we can purchase a house.

4. Down the road, start trying again for another baby. I have fired my OB/GYN b/c I feel that her incomptence and slowness to action cost me my baby. I have signed on with another firm that specializes in serving women of color.

That's all I have for now.

pointNclick 12-23-2004 06:20 PM

My goals are relatively simple:

1) Healthier- improving my overall emotional, spiritual, and physical health.
2) Wealthier- renewing my committment to advancing my finance and career goals.
3) Wiser- committing to learn and appreciate life's lessons and not repeating the mistakes I made in 2004.

lil_sunshine 12-23-2004 07:24 PM

My goals for the new year.....

1. Continue to write mantras to motivate me.
2. Take the test to get my driver's permit.
3. SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY BOYFRIEND!!! :D
*4. Continue to do my best to ignore my father and brother (Sr. and Jr.) and not let them get to me.
*5. Follow my escape plan from the mini prison I live in full of weirdos to the best of my ability.

*My motto for this year is "NO BULLISHT!!!!" I won't be taking any nor will I be dishing it out to anyone.

*= ETA
That's all I can think of for now. If I think of more, I'll be sure to post. :D

TheEpitome1920 01-03-2005 11:53 AM

I didn't make resolutions I made "Things I Would Like to do before the year is out". It's a long list but it's exciting. Like: learn how to swim, complete my Spanish in 10 minutes a day book, learn how to cook a new dish, etc.

Dancerella1908 01-08-2005 02:19 AM

1. Dedicate even more time to the Lord
2. Be less stressed
3. Take more time out for myself
4.Continue working hard for AKA!!!

Little32 01-09-2005 05:54 PM

I have so many....

...and usually I make none.

#1 Stop being trifling. ( I know this sounds bad, but it has to do with things like taking my health more seriously, and putting a freeze to justifying taking the easy way out)

#2 Be more agressive in defending myself. (Often, I will try to diffuse situations with humor, or attempt to ignore would be instigators, but I need to just start calling people on their crap.)

#3 Fix or end relationships that don't work. ( I am learning a lot of new stuff about relationships right now; it's time to put that knowledge to work.)

Another question. This thread begin in 2000, looking back--those of you who posted so long ago--did you keep those resolutions?

onlyme 01-06-2006 09:49 AM

ttt (2006)

For 2006 I resolve to:

Improve my credit score and get my financial house in order
Spend less time on the Internet playing around and spend more time on my projects and my passions.
Get back in shape.
So, what about you? ;)

lovehaiku84 01-06-2006 11:32 AM

My main resolution for 2006 is to eat healthier and to start exercising. Even though I fully qualify as a "stick figure" I am SO out of shape and I want to be able to feel as healthy as I look.

Honeykiss1974 01-06-2006 11:55 AM

1. Put God first in EVERYTHING I do (and not just with those things that I think are important to me).
2. Continue to be an encouragement to others.
3. Eat healthier.
4. Exercise more.
5. Save more $$$$ (I want to have both an emeregency stash in addition to my savings account)
6. Relax more.
