All I need to know about life I learned from ADPi

Hey girls. While I was web searching this afternoon I came accross the Orange County alumnae association website. They had a list that went with my subject header. I figured this would be a good list for other sisters to add onto. Here is what their original list was:

All I Need To Know About Life I Learned From Alpha Delta Pi

I learned that we live for each other

I learned that violets and lions can be worked into any decor

I learned about true sisterhood

I learned about the beauty and power of women

I learned you can sing ADPi songs to your children

I learned to follow the rules

I learned never to say "I was an ADPi"

I learned that diamonds ARE a girls best friend

I learned recruitment week is the best of times and the worst of times

I learned that practice makes perfect

I learned friendships do last a lifetime

I learned how beautiful memories are made: Bid Day, Initiation, Candle Passings, Dances, Homecoming, Football Games and Graduation

I learned that the footsteps do echo and disappear but memories of laughter and sisterhood are treasured forever

I learned the my sorority is more than a ritual it is a way of life

I learned that you can never have too many ADPi friends

Now for my own

I learned that a sister is there for you through thick and thin

I learned the value of friendship

I learned that no matter where I am, I will always have a sister there to support me

Now for your own:

Brianna

I've learned that no matter where I go, my sisters are right there beside me

Even if you aren't the best of friends with all of your sisters, you can still come together as sisters to support your chapter and organization when times are tough

No matter the hour, a sister is there when you need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on

honeychile 10-17-2003 11:24 AM

I learned that you can lean on your sisters when everyone else has abandoned you.

I learned that it's a lot easier to make Diamonds than other sorority symbols!

I learned that having a rich history is worth so much more than simply having a past.

I learned that true ideals of being a successful woman are the same now as in 1851.

ADPiZXalum 10-17-2003 07:57 PM

I've learned that real beauty comes from within.
I've learned that class is more than just a lecture hall.
I've learned that you should never look down on a sister unless it is to pick her up.
I've learned that it's possible to live for something much bigger than yourself and to devote yourself to it unselfishly simply because you love it.
I've learned that ADPi really ISN'T something you become, it's something that you've always been.
I've learned that sometimes homes aren't made from bricks and stones.
I've learned that a sorority is more than just a pin and flower worn out songs.
I've learned that the princicples established by our founders in 1851 are enduring attributes, exemplifying the highest ideals of Christian womanhood.
I've learned that the privilege of membership in Alpha Delta Pi brings the responsibility to do my best in whatever I undertake, always remembering that leadership requires confidence tempered with humility and courage blended with tolerance.
I've learned that our motto, "We Live For Each Other", expresses the true spirit of fraternity; and that by living this motto my life will be enriched by true friendships and by unselfish service to mankind.

Sorry I stole some of that from the creed, but seriously, I guess it's a GOOD thing that I learned something from it right?

:D

ADPi till I die. :)

I've learned that BDB holds some of my fondest memories.... and you should always take off those fancy dress shoes, so you don't just remember how much your feet hurt!!:D

i've learned that family traditions may be strange, but they are what makes you closer to your Diamond family.

I've learned that i really do LOVE making letters!! hehe

I've learned how much pride i take in wearing my pin with pin attire, rather than what i would wear on any old day... it makes it special and memorable

I've learned that i live for the moment when a sister will be lavaliered or pinned!!!

I've learned that just seeing one of my sisters makes my day in a way that can't be explained until you have experienced it yourself!!

I've learned that through think and thin... we really do 'Live for Each Other'

I hope you don't mindme crashing in on yoru board. I really love the thread you all started here. To me this is true sisterhood when you can say all these positive things about what youleanred from another sister. I like that!:D

Laura:)

I've learned that even on the worst of days when anything and everything goes wrong, just seeing a Sister on my way back from class always puts a smile on my face :)

GreekLetterGirl 11-02-2003 08:50 PM

I've learned that sisters are there to pick you up when you are down, to rejoice in your happiness, and feel your pain when times are bad, that even if you are a pi, delta or alpha the connection you have with these women is amazing.

I've learned I am very lucky to be an ADPi

honeychile 11-03-2003 08:15 PM

I learned that a really great pin can be worn as a necklace or a ring, if done with respect.

I learned that a good thread topic will find its way onto other sites. ;)

I learned that, living for each other is more fun than living for your self.

I learned that husbands may come and husbands may go, but sisters are forever.

I learned that a tea with sisters is better than a feast with enemies.

I learned that some songs will just stick with you for the rest of your life! :)

honeychile 02-16-2004 12:02 AM

I learned (from my ADPi roomie) that a box of candy to the nurses station will go a long way to making your loved one the preferred patient!

I learned that ADPis have too much class to respond to nasty posts on threads outside our Forum. (keep up the good work, ladies!!)

adpi*violet 02-16-2004 02:37 PM

Speaking as a nurse.... boxes of candy are always a good thing. Heeheehee.

See! Adpi*nurse confirms the "candy to the nurses" theory!! :D

I've learned that your sisters will teach you things that no one else would even understand!

skerbow 02-17-2004 12:20 AM

I've learned that a true sister will keep you in check and isn't afraid to tell you that you have food in your teeth.

I've learned that a sister never wears rose colored glasses when meeting your new boyfriend. And that only true sisters know how to gently bring you down to earth.

I've learned that even lions can be added to a babies nursery, no matter the gender.

ASUADPi 06-01-2004 12:53 AM

Just wanted to bump this thread up b/c its just so darn cute!!! :)

jewelladpi 06-02-2004 11:41 PM

I've learned that it is never to early to teach kids the Greek alphabet, or ADPI songs (from an advisor). Plus it's really cute when your 2 yr old god daughter can sing White Shining Star to sing herself to sleep.

Is anyone else's ovaries hurting after reading those last two posts?

I've learned that even a hardcore GDI can be made to realize how important Alpha Delta Pi is to his loved one. (mr. honeychile had my engagement ring designed with <> diamonds <> on it, with his grandmother's diamonds in the <> other ones!)

YES!!! :D

I've also learned that it doesn't matter how long it's been since you've talked to a sister, the minute you hear their voice on the phone or received their letter/e-mail/instant message, it's like you just got back home from hanging out with them.

adpi1030787 06-04-2004 12:44 PM

I learned what I want from other friends and my biological, twin sister. My sisters set the standards for everyone else to live up too!!

Lindz928 06-08-2004 01:59 PM

I learned that I may not have ended up where I thought I would, but I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

emleepc 08-09-2004 05:12 PM

I learned that when you can't talk to a sister (Gamma Chi), the reunion is oh so sweet!
I learned that when you are at your lowest, a sister will pick you up.
I learned that it's never too late, and you are never too old to be a member of Alpha Delta Pi.
I learned that no matter how far away you think you are from your sisters, there is always one close by. (even if it's through the internet)

ASUADPi 08-10-2004 03:00 PM

Bumping.

This is just such a beautiful thread to read prior to recruitment starting.

I'm actually going to use a few of these "sayings" when I mail stuff out in support of our chapters during recruitment. :)

honeychile 06-27-2006 09:15 PM

-I've learned that the more times you go through Jewel Degree, the better it gets!

-I've learned that there's nothing like a sister who works at Gymboree and stocks up on all the Lion Clothing!

-I've learned that, no matter which style of ADPi pin is your favorite, we all love the Black Diamond!

-I've learned that you can feel a strong sisterhood with women you've never even met.

-I've learned that, no matter how many wonderful sisters we have, Recruitment proves that there are many more women who are deserving!

-I've learned cheesecake isn't the only thing that can be served at Pref!

and my last for now:

-I've learned that ADPi babies always seem to be the cutest & most lovable!!

onehundone 06-28-2006 08:23 PM

I learned

I have learned that when life gets you down a sister will always be at your side to help you turn it around.

Zillini 06-30-2006 09:12 AM

I love this thread! Thanks for bumping it. Trust me, I'm going to share these thoughts with my actives.

How about some things I've learned as an Pi member and an Advisor?

- I've learned the joy of watching young immature new members grow into confident leaders and strong women. I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I helped a little bit in that process.

- I've learned that I have sisters across the entire country that will help you out whenever you need something, even if you've never met in person before.

- I've learned that even though I grew up in Illinois I'm considered a Yankee. :D

- I've learned there are 1,000's of other Pi members that are just as dedicated to the continued growth and success of this organization. More importantly dedicated to the ideals we all believe in and were founded on.

honeychile 07-21-2006 11:07 PM

-I've learned that the difference between having an ADPi House, Suite, and Chapter Room is so minor when compared to the Sisterhood they contain!

-I've learned that, even though you see Alumnae Sisters once or twice a year, you're still excited when you have a lunch date with them!

-I've learned that, when you tell sisters that the Violet Scented lotion, dish soap and hand soap are on sale at Williams-Sonoma, you best get there first, or there won't be any left!

-I've learned that I can sweat out a sister's delivery date, even though we've never formally met!

-And, that I can at least pray for each sister who announces her engagement or pregnancy!

-I've learned that the love of one's puppy http://www.orangepopdesign.com/peppe...c-1/bf_new.gif can bring sisters together unexpectedly!

WLFEO 07-30-2006 02:23 PM

I've learned that when your 5 year old daughter puts on her own dance show in your garage, you can count on ADPi sisters to show up as the audience!

ADPi Conniebama 08-13-2006 02:04 PM

I have learned that every year - with every recruitment - I see the faces of the young sisters that will have the potential to learn the same things that I have learned.

I have learned that recruitment jitters don't go away (if you become an advisor)

I have learned that recruitment jitters keep you young.

I have learned that even if you disagree with a sister (politically, philisophically, religiously) - from 1000 miles away that you have never met - you still know that she is your sister and if you met her you would have a bond that both of you would share.

I have learned that it is cool to say Michelle Pfieffer(sp) is my sister.:p

Me too!!

I've learned the bonds of true frienship.
I've learned that I can rely on my GC sisters just like my chapter and alumna sisters!
