Christmas gift for a guy

ok...i need some help. i need to start thinking about what to get my best friend/roommate for Christmas. that is the easy part. here is the hard part. for my birthday he got me some joke presents and then gave me this tiny little box wrapped in gold wrapping paper with a red bow on top. inside sat this BEAUTIFUL ring. it is a three stone sapphire ring set in white gold from kay's. (think about those past/present/future rings - the bigger stone sits in the middle and two smaller ones on either side) so i need to start thinking and looking for a really good present for him. any suggestions? i really need them!! :( :(

thanks!! :)

Is he in a fraternity? You could always get him his fraternity's official ring. I know it would be what I would want, lol

Other ideas: Watches, like a nice Citizen or Seiko.

Jewelry

How about a set of gold cufflinks and matching tie clip/bar with either your school seal or fraternity crest?
Silver

and NCAA Football or NBA LIVE 2004?? those are a must...

cashmoney 10-13-2003 11:54 PM

I like Knock Out Kings as well. I love beatin the crapp out of Lenox Lewis.

NCAA 2002 is my favorite out of all the NCAAs.

DWAlphaGam 10-14-2003 09:22 AM

No, I got him the one that came with a game (I think it's ATV 2 or something like that). I'm going to get him more games for Christmas, but I don't have the $ to go crazy buying him games right now after spending $200 on the system, so he'll have to either rent games or buy them himself until then. Thanks for the suggestions, though, I'll keep them in mind.

well...he just got a BRAND new truck so that is out. he is not in a fraternity so that rules out a ton of great stuff to get. the game station stuff is fun but i dont think that would fit his personality so much. tools are fun but i dont know about those either. see why this is so hard!?! i really appreciate the suggestions. you all rock....any more suggestions?!? hehe...

on a side note....the fraternity idea rocks! my brother just signed his bid for SAE and is going through the new member/pledge/probation period right now. so guess what he is getting for christmas?!?! a ton of SAE stuff!! SAE stuff will be so much more fun to buy than the same old gift certificate that i have bought him for the last 8 years!!

DWAlphaGam 10-14-2003 03:02 PM

Since he just got a new truck, maybe you could get him a nice keychain engraved with his initials or something like that.

(Check out Things Remembered; they have a good "Gift ideas for him" page here)

ztabchbum 10-14-2003 03:57 PM

Ok, so he got a new truck...what kind? Does he use it for anything in particular like hunting or off road? Because you can do something related to his new truck. I like the cuff link idea that someone posted. Is he in the military because you could always use that with the cuff links - instead of just the school. What are his hobbies? Let us know because since he's not greek I don't have a clue! It's always easier just to buy cool greek stuff. Does he collect anything? My boyfriend collects model cars - like imports - and some are super hard to find so that's what I always do for birthday/cristmas and it's never too much - like $50 tops.

The1calledTKE 10-14-2003 04:00 PM

how about tickets to a sports team he likes or a concert?

etahannah 10-14-2003 07:09 PM

i knew i could get some answers on here!! i like the engraved keychain idea!! very nice!! hehe!! that is going to be part of it...i just decided. getting stuff for his truck is a good idea too....i have to talk to his parents without him knowing though cause he already gave a list to them...oh man...and all this and we arent even dating!! hehe!! anyways....good thinking!! lemme know if you think of any other good ideas!!

***dances an excited present dance***

i agree that since he is not in a fraternity it makes it so hard...i am pushing that issue though :D

cashmoney 10-14-2003 07:48 PM

If he got a new truck...I'd say get him some speakers, probably some 12 inch sub woofers. 2 will do just fine. Get him an amp to go with it, he'll need it. Or you could get a playstation installed in his truck and some plasma monitors, that way he could watch some dvds or play playstation in his new ride. I watch ghetto brawls in mine while rollin down the interstate.

I cant get enough of that dvd, it so funny. But I would like to see it live, like you guys. If I went through the ghetto where I live, I might get shot.

we didnt see any real ghetto brawls but i think if we had been lost any longer we might have been lucky enough. i thought we were going to get shot!! it was super scary!!

and to top it off the second time we were lost was because we were picking up a consultant from the airport and got lost trying to get her to Case Western. poor girl was probably scared outta her mind cause of me!!

I don't know...when I read your original post, the first thing that popped into my head was, "This guy likes her, I mean likes her." Such a beautiful piece of jewelry is not usually a Yay-We're-Best-Buds type of present.

(of course now I am adding to the gift-selection anxiety. Sorry about that :( )

I would recommend trying to go with the more personal kinds of gifts, like something engraved, classic guy jewelry (cuff links, etc.) so if there are some feeligns there, even if you don't want to reciprocate, you cushion the blow somewhat.

Hey, I got a question, why does your chapter not have any hot chicks in it? I've seriously been wondering why has your chapter slipped, as far as hot chicks go, in the past 5 yrs?

I have to agree with that statement......

I don't know any guys who buy jewelry for "just a friend".

The ring sounds awesome though.

What the heck do you mean by this? I'm not even sure how to answer it. If you are addressing it to me it doesn't make sense.

There hasn't been an Alpha Xi chapter at UF since 2000 and I have not been paying attention to any other schools.

My pledge class had plenty of photogenic girls. Several of us, myself included, did some modeling. I don't really know what you're insinuating, but it sure doesn't sound nice. Certainly not relevant to this thread.

Think the lack of quality girls had anything to do with it?
