Secret Squirrel Time Yet?
Okay last year, some of us did Secret Squirrels during the holiday season, do we want to do it again this year?
If so I am proposing that we start earlier and that we get a non-AGD to help (husband, boyfriend, a fellow gc'er) so that everyone can play! Unless there is just one person who doesn't what to participate in the giving and receiving but is willing to do the "paper pushing". Also I would like to suggest that we set a start date and a finish, money limit, and maybe a theme? Or not, looking for input! I'm just starting to think Christmas gifts and Initiation gifts, so I was just thinking.... |
I wanna play! Let me know all the details... I don't really understand the deal with the non-AGD thing though... can you explain it to me better?
|
Last year someone had to sit out and couldn't play because she was the "paper pusher" and organized the whole thing. That is why I thought, say if Lynn's husband would be willing to be the organizer so that we could all play. (I'm not volunteering him, he just seems very proAGD. )
|
count me in! :D
|
oh I wanna play too!!
but at the risk of sounding completely idiotic - how does it work? |
Count me in!!! I read last years thread, and I can't wait. :)
I might be able to get my sister Lori to organize it for us, I will have to ask her. |
I am up for it again! :)
|
yes, I'm in :)
|
nevermind I read last year's thread :D
|
I am up for it again this year. I still have my gift hanging from last year. :)
However--and please don't be offended by this--if you commit to Secret Squirrel, please follow through. I think I recall a few AGD GCers disappeared last year and either sent their gift really late or never sent it at all. That's not fair to your sisters. OK, back to your regularly scheduled thread! :) |
I'm in again too!

Hubby Thanks you!
That was soo cute to say that he is proAGD:D
As if he had a choice;) ((He laughed when I showed it to him.) I agree that we need to set a date to mail by. Keep in mind that there are some sisters are of other faiths and may not celebrate specifically Christmas. I know that Lisa is Jewish..forgive me I know at least 1 more person is, but I can't remember who, lol. so I would hope that that sister gets her "present" in time for her specific holiday. Here's a thought...since Alpha Gamma Delta is celebrating our 100th anniversary, why not say the gift should be "of another era". I know that some members' style aren't into "Victorian" but that's how I think of the 1900's, lol. Guess I should do a search on the History Channel, lol. With the motto "Surrounded by Sisterhood", it might be hard to find a lot of things with females in a circle.;) :p |
Count me in too! Thank you for being thoughtful of me, Lynn! Lynn, I think the girl you are refering to isfrom Oklahoma (I think).;)
|
not sure if you're thinking of me, Lynn, but i'm Jewish as well..
|
Wow, that makes at least three of us.
|
I'm not sure what's involved, but I'm sure you'll tell me.
Count me in! Nann |
YAY! glad someone brought this up!!
Hey all!! ... count me in too :)
I'll be back in Vancouver for the holiday & can cross the border again to send it out from our family's US PO box!! woo hoo!! something to add to my holiday shopping list ... I started very early this year ;) liEP, Jen |
I am so in, I just got a new job so I'll have plenty of money to spend and I do love to spend money. I think its a great idea. :D Just let me know how this all works exactly since I've never done this before.
|
Basically, everyone emails the "paper pusher";) :D with their real name, address, likes/dislikes (esp. allergies). Then the "pp" sends A someone else's info, etc. . Then A (she better! :D ) sends that person a little present..could be AGD related or not (but think of the purpose, lol). It's just a way for sisters who would never have met if not for GreekChat to get to know each other and find out what else we have in common.
It's kind of hard to keep it a secret who the Secret Squirrel is when you have to put an outside address on the package. Of course, there are sooo many MI squirrels, that part might be easy, lol. :) But if you happen to know someone traveling to another state or country, you could prolong the mystery for a while...just make sure everyone knows by Dec. 31st!!:D http://forums.greekchat.com/gcforums...ecret+squirrel Thought of something else ;) inlucde your Tshirt size and if you like pierced/clipped earrings....just thinking of ideas since I have no idea who I will get!:D |
I think that we should set the date by the first of December (but we need to remember that this is final time). And I like the idea of Surrounded by Sisterhood (I loved receiving the 2002 tree orniment (?)) so we may want to think of this theme. Everyone else weigh in!
NEVER MIND... I like Lynn's idea again about the 31st. |
I think we should set a time window. Example, everyone should receive their gifts from their secret squirrel between the 1st and the 12th. So no one has to wait more than two weeks to join in the gift gossip.
I am not sure about a theme, I am an impulse shopper. But I am open to trying if that is what we decide on. :) And the price limit Lynn set last year sounds good. "Spending limit - $20 or less. (Unless you really really want to spend more.) Remember, it's the thought and fun that counts!" Still waiting to ask Lori to coordinate. I will get back with y'all. |
Okay well I am going to start a want list!!!:)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.rcsportswear.com/store/2...dCategory=1444 Limoges Hand Painted Porcelain Box Product code: 03RG03 The Rose Garden and Alpha Gamma Delta commissioned this porcelain box to commemorate the 100th anniversary of our founding. Designed by a family of master craftsmen and artists in the town of Limoges in the South of France, these boxes are exquisite heirlooms. The hinge is hand fitted with a rose clasp and inside is inscribed. (2" W x 1"H) Price $149.95 (I hope the picture shows up) Also I am wanting to start an ornament collection... Maria gave me the 2003 one last year (I think, I'll have to look in the ornament box), but I joined in 1999 so the 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002, along with 2004 are all open options. Well... I'm a little excited so please forgive me! |
Are we starting I want lists now? :D I have a few:
Centennial Ornament Product code: 02RG09 Our brass Century of Sharing Sisterhood is the official ornament of 2003. Be sure to order yours early. Price $12.95 This is waaaay out of the budget, but I still wanted to list it: Centennial Throw Product code: 03RG02 A beautiful throw to commemorate our Fraternity’s 100th year! A tapestry of rich, vibrant colors featuring the Armorial Bearings, red and buff roses, squirrel and the pearl badge. Offered for a limited time, be sure to celebrate the Centennial with this one-of-a kind throw. (46" x 67") Price $59.95 Any kind of Alpha Gam shirt you might have in your closet (I'm making pillows to match my T-shirt quilt and I would love to have a variety! already got some from ebay....) Pretty much anything AGD is good for me :D I'm easily pleased! YAY! this is so exciting, I can't wait to pick out a gift! whoo hoo I'm such a nerd :) EDITED for bad grammar :) |
 ;) :D That Limoges box is BEAUTIFUL!!! Maybe if I have any money left over AFTER convention!:D
The throw is beautiful...will go with the squirrel one I already have. I had already thought about getting the smaller box to give a possible gift(s). |
Lori has volunteered to organize the secret squirrels for us. So we can all play. Yeah!! :D
Maybe this will encourage Lori to get online with us, rather than reading over my shoulder. ;) :D And I will get her a special something for doing this for us. :) I will post details later... |
Oh I Found Something Today!!
It is sooo cute!! I can't wait to give it to my Secret Squirrel(s)!! (They were such a low price I got extras;) :D for when I need quick AGD gift!:D ) And yea, I had to put it on the AGD Credit Card...I didn't realize I only have 2 checks when I left the house and I had 4 places to run errands to!
Hubby spends more on his monthly trips to the comic book store!;) |
Me too!
|
hmm....does anyone want a live squirrel? there are plenty on my campus.
|
Lori offered to organize the squirrels, since no one else offered....
Here is the tentative plan. If there are no changes to the rules, I will start a new thread so the rules, and Lori's email will be posted at the top. Give feedback on the following please... ------------ Okay, I read through last year’s thread, and taking suggestions from that this is what I came up with. This is open to review and revisions, just let me know Send an email to Lori at (will provide) and include the following information: GreekChat User Name Real & Full Name Mailing Address Phone Number (for shipping purposes) Lori will assign each of us a squirrel and email us their information. Easy! If you need any additional information or need to contact a squirrel just email Lori. Lori will distribute your secret squirrel on Sunday, November 2nd. So anyone who wants to play needs to have emailed Lori her information by Saturday, November 1st. Anyone who didn’t get to reply or any new Alpha Gam GC’ers who want to participate after this date, email Lori and she will get you paired up as squirrels become available. Financial Limitations: $20 or less. (Unless you really really want to spend more.) Remember, it's the thought and fun that counts! (copied from Lynn’s post last year) All squirrels should try to send/receive their gifts between December 1st and December 12th. Then we can all reveal and gossip all weekend long!! --------- Does this work for everyone??? |
fien with me! I move to adopt these rules and regulations. Do I have a second?
|
I second-
open for discussion.......... |
Sounds like a good plan to me! :)
|
good to go
|
looks good.
|
Kristen, We also might want to add something personal about ourselves to help the giftgiver. Things that might be inaproprate, for instance (i.e. a diabetic might not want to have sweets, some of us are Jewish, and may not celebrate Christmas, but may enjoy Hanukkah etc....) Maybe we could let Lori know what kinds of things we like.
|
That is a great idea. But I don't want to overload Lori with information. But we could post those sorts of things in our Secret Squirrel?
I know most of us have posted personal things throughout the board. And some even posted a wish lists in the thread. ;) |
tee hee I couldn't help it ;) I had to post about all the neat AGD stuff I want Santa (or my secret squirrel) to bring me
I already know what I'm getting mine!!!! yippee! |
First timer question
I definitely want to be involved, but have a question -- how many gifts do you send? Is it just one? Or one a week?
Thanks! Lori |
