Dream Wedding

All these wedding threads have got me down and dreamin!

For all the single ladies out there... what do you want your wedding to be like? Post a pic of the style of wedding gown you want too!

For my wedding... I want the traditional huge Italian style. Sit down dinner of surf n turf (even tho I hate seafood, but it went off well with the guests at my graduation party!). I went red, yellow, white, and of course PINK roses all over the place. I want a tiara as my headpiece with a veil trimmed in very little gold. My dress will be white, 3/4 bell sleeves, and bits of gold all over-- but not too much. And if I marry an Italian, I want my song to be Umberto Tozzi's "Ti Amo".... but a non Italian, From This Moment.

And my groom? Well my dream would be for him to be some hot, dark Italian who treats me like a princess!

Hey... sounds crazy but every girl has her dream wedding already picked out!

Me neither. Am I the only one who doesn't think about baby names or wedding dresses? Sometimes I even fantasize about eloping to Vegas, 'cause I'm not feeling wedding drama.

Same here!

I mean, I'll talk about it if the topic comes up, but I'm far from subscribing to Bridal magazines!

I've actually only gone to 3 weddings in my entire life! NONE of my friends are anywhere close to getting married...

Hmm, maybe I need a new crowd??

Yikes!!! I was in three weddings before I was 18!!

SSS1365 09-27-2003 12:26 PM

I never daydreamed about my wedding until I actually got engaged and needed to start planning one! I had no idea what I wanted, which is making the planning process a little stressful. It's coming along though, and I think it will be a nice wedding.

Peaches-n-Cream 09-27-2003 12:31 PM

I'm torn. Sometimes I think that I really want to settle down, get married, and have children. When my bf has brought up the subject, I really have no interest in discussing it. I don't know if it is me or if he isn't the right guy. I just am not interested in marriage now, and I am happy with the way things are.

Well glad this thread stayed on topic.

PM_Mama00... a friend of my ex'es had their wedding at the Italian American club in Wyandotte and it was exactly what you described! Too bad all my Italian cousins are already married.. I'd hook ya up!

How is this:

Fantasy: Wedding at St. Patrick's Cathedral my sisters as my bridesmaids. A horse drawn carriage takes me to my reception at the Waldorf Astoria, the Pierre, or the Plaza wih 300 of my closest friends and family as guests.

Reality: Wedding at my parish church which was on the Sopranos when Carmella talks to the priest in the first season. It is a beautiful Roman Catholic church with lots of stained glass where my parents were married. A small, elegant reception with close friends and family.

This style dress. (Not exactly this dress, but it is as close as I can find.)

this thread came along at the right time for me. before all of the wedding threads started popping up, my mind has been long gone when i fantasize about my wedding. it will be small and sweet. i am torn between a beach wedding and a wedding in this garden type clubhouse here in town. i want to get married soon. :(
i have my dress, cake, flowers, and centerpieces, etc. all planned. *sigh*

I haven't really put much thought into it, but I've always wanted to be barefoot on the beach somewhere on the west side shores of Oahu, getting married at sunset.

I'd have a haku lei around my head and he'd wear a maile lei draped around his neck.

No expensive brand name wedding gowns for me. I opt for a cheaper, traditional wedding holoku:

or even a Marilyn Monroe-esque backless halter is cute:

I really dont care if it's some grand thing or what not. I know my fathers side of the family will probably make it into something really grand, but I'd be just as satisfied having something in a chaplin in the mountains of a certain european country with just the two of us there and a priest. Or I could be just as comfortable being in a cathedral. I guess I'm more concerned with making the right choice than making the right wedding.

Anyways, Cream and KDatUTC those dresses are gorgeous! And that pink bridesmaid dress is so pretty and dainty! I love it!

editted for misunderstanding :)

It wasn't meant to be mean or directed at anyone.....I thought it was humorous.....

Sorry for whoever may not feel the same...It's not really meant to be purchased!

Moving on...:)

So far, I'm getting my dream wedding. I've got a great guy, and I love what I've chosen so far. I'm having a big, formal, DAYTIME, New Orleans style wedding :D

Peaches-n-Cream 09-27-2003 06:36 PM

Oh no! This thread has sparked something in me that makes me want to get married.

MeLikey 09-27-2003 07:16 PM

I never really really thought about my exact dream wedding, but I know some things I want for sure, like I want a strapless satin gown that's fitted all the way down, wearing some gorgeous diamond necklace. My sister will be my maid of honor, and my bridesmaids will be a few sisters and best friends from college. Since I hate the cold, and I love the hot weather, my wedding would be sometime in the summer. I still think it would be so cool to get married on the beach in some exotic location but realistically I don't have the money to fly everyone down for that, so unless I win the lottery or my husband's rich, then that's not happening! And my mom told me that for this family friend's wedding, they were married before I was born, but her bridesmaid's dresses were all differnt pastel colors of the rainbow-- I love lots of colors, so I've always liked that idea too.

AchtungBaby80 09-27-2003 09:46 PM

V E G A S !

I'd rather have a really nice engagement ring than a big fancy wedding. ;)

pinkyphimu 09-27-2003 10:35 PM

i am getting married on the beach at sunrise. i would love to go to fiji, but who knows. definately a simple white sundress, no shoes. man- kahkis and a navy blazer...or just a white shirt and tie. i really just want to elope. i told my dad he could come, but he should start saving for the air fare. lol, if he saves 50 cents a day, he will have enough money by the time i meet a guy i want to marry....lol!

blueGBI 09-27-2003 10:56 PM

For my wedding I already know:

a. that I want to be on a WEdding Story! I love that show! :)
b. that I want a small wedding party. No more than 3 bridesmaids, maid of honor, 3 groomsmen, 1 best man, a flower girl and ring bearer.
b. colors will be blue and silver or green and silver.
c. bridesmaids dresses will be blue or green, however they can pick what kind of dress it is as long as it is not like mine and as long as it doesnt look like an 80s prom dress. :p
However, I like this as a bridesmaid dress even though it is a gown.
http://www.gownsetc.com/images/sg2613.jpg

d. flowers will not be roses. am allergic to roses. :(
e. There will be no more than 200 people at the wedding. I love my family and there are alot of them but just having the family only on my side at the wedding will mean that I'm having a 500 seat wedding. And thats just the family East of the Mississippi!!!
f. I'd like the reception to be at a hall with a buffet, cash bar, a small jazz band or a DJ that will play only oldies or music from before 95 ( don't want to take the chance of Nelly or Luda being played at a wedding)
g. 2 Limos, regular limos. I dont need a stretch hummer or navigator.

Now these are dresses I like for myself:

Jill,

I love your dress. I really like that style and wouldn't mind trying something like that for myself. I'm also drawn to a lot of Princess Mary dresses, especially her Unspoken Romance collection (www.marysbridals.com) since I can't seem to figure out how to insert pictures into Greek chat here are some style numbers I like if you visit their website #F035169, F986861 (I especially liked the back of this one just get rid of the big bow) There are others I liked bits and pieces of.

I'm a very large woman so what I will probably do is find a seamstress and have the dress made. That way I can pick and choose the sleeves, skirt, top, etc from different patterns and see if I can combine them into the dress I want. I don't really like sleeveless dress either. I do want a low neckline such as a sweetheart or v-neck. Dress has to be white.

I will definitely get married in my church, going to have lots of candles and want to have a family member from both families walk down the aisle to light the two altar candles that we will then use to light the unity candle - signifying the joining of the two families into one.

My favorite flower is freesia so I want to incorporate those in to my flowers. But of course I want to put in the American Beauty Rose in to my bouquet somehow - even though it is difficult to find florist that can get that flower.

I want to have my bridesmaids get something they can wear again. I was thinking maybe black skirt (that can later be shortened to wear more cocktail style) and a separate top that can be used on it's own too.

Music, I really like Pachelbels Cannon and want that for the bridesmaids to walk down. I love John Denver's "For you" and would like that played at the wedding. Also, I love From this Moment (the duet version) and kind of want that played.

On my 5 year anniversary I want to go up to the California Redwoods to a tourist place called Trees of Mystery and do a renewal of our vows at the Cathedral Tree. This has got to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. On my 10 year anniversay I want to do a renewal of vows at Disneyland or Disneyworld.

Oh well, this is all still dreaming.....someday I'll find the right man.

sherbertlemons 09-28-2003 11:50 AM

Well, I don't really have any dresses I've really looked at, but I do know where I want to hold it at. The Tampa Theater It's this movie palace built in the mid-twenties, and it's amazingly beautiful. You can't see it in the photos on the website, but they have "stars" in the ceiling and the feel of an open air theater.I'm willing to bet it would lend itself nicely as a site for both a wedding and a reception.

SSS1365 09-28-2003 12:00 PM

You can see my wedding planning album here

There's pictures of my first fitting, potential hair styles, the reception site, bridesmaids dresses, etc.

This picture wouldn't show up in my album, but this is what I want my cake to look like:

juniorgrrl 09-29-2003 01:18 AM

My dress and more!

I ordered my dress on Friday! I'm so excited to show it off (except FI or anyone who'll actually be at the wedding won't see it until the day of)

http://www.marisabridals.com/series10/509_front.jpg

http://www.marisabridals.com/series10/509_back.jpg

My sash will be ivory so there won't be as much color contrast, but since the dress is silk and the sash is taffeta, there's a difference in texture. It looks so pretty when its bustled all fluffy-like.

I'm not going to wear a tiara (too trendy); instead I want a comb with flowers for my veil. All of my jewelry is family heirlooms, which makes it all extra special :)

http://www1.davidsbridal.com/images/.../full/4502.jpg

My bridesmaids dresses, except they'll be in a light blue. No gloves, because this is a daytime wedding. I'm toying with the idea of having them hemmed to tea length, even though this is a formal church wedding.

BMs are going to carry small nosegays of daisies, hand tied with ribbon french braided in various shades of pale blue. My boquet is going to be cream roses with french braided ribbon in ivory to match my dress.

I can't wait for my dress to get here! 4 months seems like forever!
