What is Your Claim to Fame
This thread prob. been done, but I'm too lazy to wait in the search due to my 56k modem.
My claim to fame, I was an extra for the Basketball Diary. ETA: After that 2 days experience, I knew I didn't want to be a movie star. The hours sucks, the food sucks, and the AD was a major a-hole. |
i was on mtv once and the chicago news twice hehe
|
I was in the Corps of Cadets at A&M. Before all home football games, the entire corps forms up on the Quad (grassy area admist the Corps Dorms) and marches parade-style to Kyle Field and on the track around the field to be reviewed by a reviewing officer.
The Commanding Officer of each outfit always leads, is about 5 steps in front of the block with the outfit guidon(flag) a pace behind and to his.......right? (not sure) Anyway, the Executive Officer(like the VP) gets to lead one march-in each year. My senior year in the Corps (4 out of 6 at A&M) i was the XO for my outfit. The XO march-in was supposed to be the KSU game in 2000, but my CO had a bunch of familiy coming in and asked if i'd switch to lead the OU game instead. That was the fall of 2000, when OU came to Kyle Field and we were on Game Day. At the end of the Pre-Game Show on ESPN, they started to cut to commercials over scenes from march-in, Guess who was seen close up on national TV leading his Corps outfit? :D Kitso KS 361 times i need to find that video |
I won the weakest link game show.
-Rudey --Stroke that ego baby! |
I was one of those featured kids in the TV show "Romper Room" (I barely even remember the activities I did) and was also asked back to be on the special Anniversary show, which I did of course.
I was an extra for the movie "Married to It" with Cybil Shepheard, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Beau Bridges. I had to pretend some guy was my dad and we had to keep walking up and down these school steps and have this fake conversation about how school went. I did a lot of print modeling when I was younger, so I'm on the cover of a parenting book and am supposedly in numerous text books that I'll never see. I was interviewed on the news twice... once outside of FAO Schwartz talking about all of the presents I got for Christmas, and it was New Kids on the Block this and that. The second time was when my friends and I got stopped during trick-or-treating. The reporter asked me what my favorite candy was, "My favorite candy is Reeses-Peanut Butter Cups." But besides those, I hold 1 claim to fame very dear to my heart and I brag about this to people because I just think it's really funny. In 4th grade, I made it all the way to the state competion for the Elks Free Throw Contest, placing 1st in my school, town, and other counties in my state. I got trophies, plaques, and my picture in the newspaper twice. Nerves must have gotten the worst of me at states because I was off that day. Nonetheless, I beat all of those little girls, shooting Granny-style! Edited to add: And how could I forget about those 2 school posters I was on? Oh yeah, I looked awful and they were plastered in every dorm and office, oh how I just *loved* it when people would come up to me and be like "Hey you're on that poster!" |
I was on a Japanese children's television show when I was about 4-years-old. I think I was on about 4 episodes. I would have to give the English word for the different pictures that one of the other kids was holding up. So, basically my job was to teach the Japanese kids English.
|
I was in the Macy's Parade in 1992 and I was on TV for about 10 seconds.
A few years ago I did a dance piece at Grand Central and CNN did a special interest story on it. They interviewed me. My cousin saw it one night drunk at the fraternity house. He kept telling everyone I was his cousin, and no one believed him. Oh, I was also in a promotional video for my university - they showed me doing a dance routine (I was on the pom squad). Don't know if they're still using it, though... |
I'm in my schools PR things... about 3000 high school seniors get them a year...
|
I appeared in numerous Real World Hawaii episodes. Each appearance lasted about a few seconds. Most of them were club or campus footage.
I've been on ESPN not once, but twice...happy and semi-drunk. The first was against BYU. It was a hot day and I had taken off my shirt and had my bikini bra and shorts on. I held up a sign that said "I GO LOLO 4 ROLO". Two seconds later, I got a phone call from my mom yelling at me to put my shirt back on. The second came against Alabama. Again, it was a day game so off the shirt went. This time I had beer in hand, but mom saw me AGAIN. I've done local commercials for Unity House, Hawaii State Teachers Assocation, and campaign promos for former Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano. I've also done print ads for Liberty House (now Macy's), JCPenney, and Sears. |
As a child, I was in cub scouts. I was selected to appear in spots promoting the Boy Scouts' biggest fundraiser -- Trail's End Popcorn. I appeared on the Barry Switzer Show with Jamelle Holliway and Charles Thompson (Barry Switzer was an OU coach that brought home 3 National Championships, you'd probably only know the other two if you followed OU football in the 80's). I also appeared in a spot with then Oklahoma Governor, Henry Bellman.
In college I was an anchor/reporter for my university's new channel. I anchored 2-3 nights per week each week, I had way more than my 15 minutes of fame:D Even got "recognized" around town a few times... |
I have the best "rush smile" in my sorority. :D <--like this

No, Kitso was not an honorary Chi-O his senior year! "XO" is military jargon for Executive Officer, or second in command :D My claim to fame is that I was first runner up in the 1984 Dorseyville Corn Queen pageant; the highlight of the yearly Dorseyville Corn Carnival!!! |
I was in many little print ads as a kiddo and a commercial and a little part in a tv movie. Im on a couple of my friends bands cds too :) *im gonna have my own one day!!*
Nichole |
I was on a Primetime special for a Children's ICU in Little Rock :D
If you go to the Bush Presidential Library in College Station, I'm in the intro video walking with Pres. Bush - I was about 16 or so I think. yeah thats about it :) |
I was in an audience shot for the mickey mouse club. At the end of the show they did an autograph signing. I kick myself for not getting the autographs. Britney, Christina, Justin, JC, and Keri Rusell were all there before they were famous of course.
|
I have been on the KC news, when I was about 5.
Also model little kids clothing on a local tv show. -wendi |
I'm married to a former Toledo Area Student Council Queen. Well, also Prom Queen, etc. But I didn't know her then.
Actually, there are several things I might mention, but the thing that stands out most in my memory is directing the live world-wide pool telecast of a Papal Prayer Vigil and a Papal Mass the next day at World Youth Day in Denver. The fact that I'm a Presbyterian makes it more memorable. |
Well one day, my movies.
|
Being one of seven Indiana Founding mothers for Zeta Sigma Chi. :D
|
I'm almost sure I mentioned this on another thread, but I was the youngest delegate to a Democratic National Convention. A news team followed me everywhere, and I ended up being on NBC News and in Time (for "the youth vote"). I also met a ton of political celebrities, went out with the son of a President, and was on the Presidential Advance Team.
The fact that I am now a Republican makes it all the sweeter! I've often thought that, come the right year, it would be interesting to go to the Republican National Convention for comparison's sake. But I'm not that involved with politics anymore. That's the biggest (so far! :D ) |
Not really in any order:
Founding a Local! Stopping Freshman Hazing a A College. Doing live Commercials on TV! Blamed for a Panty Raid on Campus that I did not do. Kicked out of St.Joesph Mo. Kicked out of College. Kicked out of a Fraternity. Asked not to come back to Kitzbuhl Austria. Pleading with a Preg Women, dont have the baby! Got her to Hospital. Getting a guy out of a demolished car. ETC, ETC, but living to be this old! Puttin up with Kitso who is a Greek-Greek! 3 to 4 hours:cool: |

Kitso KS 361 inches farther one way and you wouldn't be the same Tom Earp we know and love |
I was an extra in the movie "Mo' Money". I had three words--two of them profanities. I'm thankful now that my comments were edited, but I'm still in the film.
I was in the locker room with the press right after the Chicago Bulls won their 2nd championship--got champagne poured on my head and everything. My sister and I met OJ Simpson and Nicole at a party. He gave me the creeps and I told my sister as we walked away from him, "I wouldn't be surprised if that man ax-murdered his family one day." |

My claim to fame is that I starred in a Children's Theater play when 7 or 8. Oh, and my dad drove Colonel Sanders' (Yes, the real Col. Sanders of KFC Fame!) in the Pegasus Parade. |
Oh, Kitso, that is another story!:)
2 scars from Doctors, S**T load from OOOOPS!:D Your turn to call! I will and try not to be Cranky with YA!:D Can see that you have a lot of time on your hands up in South Da-friggin-Dakota!:) |
mine is a cute story:
i'm a tour guide here at beloit, and once i was giving this tour, when all of a sudden one of the moms asks me if i'm "the girl from the brochure". i had no idea what she was talking about and told her that no, it wasn't. but then, when we got back to the admissions office, i went to look, and sure enough, my photo is used in one of our recruiting brochures!! i didn't know i was being sent out to thousands of people each year :) other claims to fame: tom brokaw did a dateline special on schools that work, and mine was one of the ones featured. (this was four years ago?) editor of the fourth oldest college newspaper in the nation, at least as far as we've confirmed so far and proud owner of the cutest darn belly button in the world!! :D |
I'm in a bunch of pics used in my school's slide show for new students.
I was in the audience of the Price is Right when one of my sorority sisters won a mini van and a refrigerator!! *You know the part where the put the address to write to for free tickets, well on that taping it was a close up of me and one other sister smiling really really big like idiots!* I have been in the paper lots of times because I played 3 sports in high school. I also was in the paper a few times for some featured stuff that was at my school when I was younger. I also was on the news when I was 6 because I won 'the twist and shout contest' at the fair. I guess I was the youngest person on stage. I even showed off my talent for the camaras afterwards in an interview  hee hee. oh well |
My picture from a Sept 11 memorial service at our school was featured on the President of my college's Christmas card that year and on the cover of the alumni magazine the next quarter. I was wearing a bid-day shirt but you can't see it in the pic.
I'm on the left In fitting fashion, a member of my family tree was on the cover of the next issue. :D |
* Chalk me up as another one in their school's brochures. Lol, i'm in the centerfold of the Pitt admissions book. Knew i'd be a centerfold one day ;) Knowing Pitt, they'll be using those promo materials for years to come. When the kids at home get their viewbooks from Pitt, all of the parents end up calling my mom and asking if that's me.
* Freshman year of HS my HS marching band was on Good Morning America on Labor Day. You could see me jumping around with my mellophone. I almost nailed the camera guy because he got in the way. I've also been on the local news various times b/c of band. * Another band story- during a Steelers game my band played, and there was a close up on my face for like 10 seconds that apparantly aired on the broadcast, not just on the jumbotron. I had no clue there was even a camera guy near me until I got home and heard all about it. * Been on the local news a couple of times in high school, was interviewed a few times * Was on NASA TV in HS b/c I was part of a group that did a lot of work with NASA and we visited there quite a few times. Yeah, so nothing else cool :( |
*My dad was the drummer in a relatively well-known band that a lot of really old-school rockers from the 60's midwest still remember.
It's old folklore that the movie "That Thing You Do" was very loosely based on my dad's band. That would have made my dad "Shades". Haha. Which could have been true considering my dad ALWAYS wore sunlgasses when he was hitting the skins. *I've been on the TV news and in the newspaper quite a few times due to my involvement both as a camper and volunteer counselor at camps for kids with cancer. *I was a contestant and member of the Project Greenlight contest and spoke with Ben Affleck a few times. |

That's so cool! I'm a huge fan of Project Greenlight, were you a contestant on the 1st or 2nd season? |
First season, but I never made it on a show.
|
Well....
I was on Its Academic with my high school, twice. I was a cheerleader and was on camera a couple of times.
I was on the local station that broadcasts the high school games (basketball and football) because I was a cheerleader and in the band. I was on the news once for telling the Jack Kent Cook character about not turning my home into a parking lot (back in the day) Thats all that I remember right now....if I think of more (if there were more) I will let you know. Q |
I was in the audience for the Jenny Jones show once and I appeared in the crowd scene on an episode of The People's Court and commented on a case.
|
When I was like 5, I was at a press conference at Spring Training and Tony La Russa was taking questions and a reporter gave me a mic and I asked him for his autograph in front of like 500 people that all laughed...
Im really lucky when it comes to raffles. Ive win like 75% of raffles that I enter lol I broke a $600 window at UCDavis :p |
I was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show in Nov 1996. I got to tell the world how I managed to have the knob explode off the hotwater faucet at 4:30 in the morning.
:) |
I used to live across the street from one of the jurors from the O.J. Simpson trial. The day the verdict came out, my neighborhood was full of reporters. I got interviewed by a local newman Rick Chambers, was in the paper for giving my opinion along with a pic, and had lunch with Barbara Schroeder form FOX11 news. It was only McDonalds but I was happy. Unfortunately, I missed school that day b/c I felt like ditching but b/c I was on the news a lot, my teachers saw me & knew I had lied about being out sick. Got detention for a week. Bastards.
I was in the studio audience for the show Family Feud & you got to see me for about 2 seconds once when they panned to the audience. On the show Who's Line Is It Anyway? I was picked out of my seat & Wayne Brady & Chip sang to me. It was awesome! |
Kind of a claim to fame, but not really:
ESPN had a policy of not giving press passes to anyone under college age - they had a tough time with a kid from SI for Kids and had made a policy afterwards not to allow students to roam the studios. Well, they were doing an opening for ESPNews, and an advisor I worked for soph. year of high school got me a pass. I was writing for the teen page of the local newspaper, and she vouched that I wouldn't cause an embarassment. I ended up going to events all weekend, filing about a half dozen stories, and being invited to come back three years later to cover the 25th anniversary of the network for the same local paper. After my experience they have been much more willing to allow teen journalists since. Other than that...maybe speaking in front of my fraternity's Grand Conclave when I was a sophomore? |
