I don't know how many of you noticed, or how many of you care, but the fraternitysecrets message board has been down for a while now. Anyone know how this feat was accomplished and by whom?

That message board was terrible, and we're soooo lucky it was taken down before rush began this fall!

Good point. There's no point in being overly defensive.

I know a lot of us who have been here for a while are very wary when someone uses their first post to respond to a website--with good reason.

I didnt even know about that fraternity secrets page guess Im outta the loop oh well not like I can to know the false secrets anyways lol but I know what site HOOTIE is talking about and yes I believe that site needs to be shut down. I know alot of people who have tried and no suceeded though.

There havre been posters over the years that I have been here who have done this and have been deleted by the owner of this Site for a reason.

We or John Hammel cannot shut down a web site, only pass on to the processor if there is something libel or dangerous in what is being posted.

This is an open site for people to see, but it is also controlled via the Web Master. We as Moderators while have no final say, may suggest and discuss on a thread about what we suggest, and suggest only.

While I seem to be attacking, I see no reason for it to even to having to be brought up. It became a very bitter discussion and needed to be put to bed. It just seems to be strange that this comes up out of the blue!:(

So, My question is, why is it being even brought up at this time unless it is trouble!

I, as well as all of the other Daughters of Zeus will definitely miss that fine piece of cyber-literature :rolleyes:

As for the original poster, he/she wasn't posting a link to a website, but saying that a website had been shut down. I guess if there had been a link, I would be much more suspicious.

My personal favorite on that site is his name for SigEp - Strong Brotherhood Forever. Wouldn't that be Sigma Beta Phi?

This is rather old news...the board is down, but the site itself is still up. The board was being spammed continuously which is proabably why they got rid of it - there would be pages of posts that were nothing but a single letter.

A pity too, since it was Always So Awesome. :p

I didn't realize that this topic had already been discussed and "put to bed", so to speak. If I had, I certainly wouldn't have posted the message.

I didn't bring the topic up out of the blue any more than other topics -- every discussion has to start somewhere. I honestly thought I was pointing out something positive. I apologize for bringing down the morale of the group here...

You asked about my identity and my lack of posts. Well, I am a KD alum, and I generally just browse the boards. Not being actively involved in my sorority anymore keeps me from feeling like I should post much. For example, while I have certainly gone through rush on both sides, I can't really contribute to the current discussions -- my ideas and experiences are quite outdated. So, like I said, I usually just read things others have posted. I will occasionally let sisters know in chat when one of our pins is on ebay -- hence my screen name, The Protector.

One of my sorority sisters was harrassed repeatedly by someone on that site -- so much so that she ultimately removed herself from credible and productive cyber groups. Thus, discovering that the message board is down was a relief to me. My sister (who will obviously remain nameless) would undoubtedly back me up on this one.

So, there you have it. I mean no harm, and I apologize for bringing up the subject.

Thank you very much for the clarification. It's something there is often a lack of here.

I find a lot of these sites disturbing and it scares the sh!t out of me. I don't understand what pleasure these idiots get in revealing secret rituals. I doubt that it is the truth.

I also checked out the message board of the Party School website! There was a thread about GLO secrets and I just wanted to scream.

Hootie, I have seen that bloody awful website in question that shall be nameless (I cringe even thinking about it). It was extremely disturbing!!!!! Can't someone just take it down?!!!!

Mine and I am sure each of us are very protective about our Rituals. I had mine in 1966. Yep, I am an Alum also.

There ae many rock worms out there in Cyber space and it rankles me when I see someone bashing Greeks.

I would suggest 2 things:

1. When making a post like this make sure you ID your self.

2. Just because you are not an Active Alum anymore does not mean that you cannot enjoy this Web Site and see a lot of teh goings on in All Groups.

This many even get the juices flowing again and get you back more active. As you read post, you will see a lot of Alums here.

Trust me, we are not all just youngsters.:o

I don't know why people "groaned" about this either! Like I said in a previous msg someplace else - we ALL should be concerned when any GLO's ritual is revealed.

Anyway, as to how the msg board was taken down...it was a response to the TOS complaints that had been made. I know that Yahoo's Associate General Counsel got involved at some point. I'm not sure if the final straw was that there was personal information posted on that msg board or because you could post without registering (probably the latter).

i always hoped he would put something about AXO on there so i could laugh...or cringe if it was right!

i've never heard any rumors about our ritual. if anyone has, PM me!;)

It's unfortunate. Some of my best work was on those boards. ;)

and didnt you know we ALL eat roses? every single one of us. for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and sometimes as a bedtime snack.

i prefer mine salted - luckily, there's nothing in our ritual that says they can't be seasoned according to personal preference :)
